how’ve you guys been dealing with a guile? i know essentially you just need to bulldog him to the corner and try to get in and mix up… but are there any more tips on getting in? lol that matchups been killing me as my other main is rog
I been having trouble with the this match as well, if the guile is good at zoning I pretty much have no chance unless I somehow get them in the corner. The hard part for me is just getting in, damn air grab is annoying along with flash kick.
U2 is great against Vega.
It essentially keeps him grounded when you have Ultra.
It can also punish his invulnerable backflip shit from 3/4 screen.
I need to do some more testing but U2 is much more useful against E.Honda… I was able to punish a Headbutt on block. Im just gonna go back into practice and test it a little more But it might actually work.
Now Im sorry for asking this and I know there are people like me but could someone explain WHY We all use U2 against 90% of the cast? Could you just name off each character and the Key points as to why we need it…? Cause I find U1 so much more useful then U2
Also, Ive asked this maybe 5-6 times but What do I do against Bison? Screw the “Sweep on reaction to his HK!” It DOESNT WORK for me. Id like to just know how I should play against him (I.E. Defensive/ Offensive) What pokes work best vs him, What To do and what NOT to do. and how to punish certain moves he does. I know alot about this match-up but my friend beats me 60% of the time and Its just really stressful even when I win against him. I feel like Im fighting an up-hill battle here.
check first post. If it doesnt help u, post what are u having troubles with and Ill help u
I think I remember reading an earlier post saying that s.HP beats Bison’s headstomp. I’ve had real problems getting a free hit, at best trading and losing more health than Bison. However, nj.HP works reasonably well and I think can be used on the headstomp followups, too.
PS: Hi, I’m new to these forums. I main rufus, but aren’t too good.
And for all the time I’ve been playing as Rufus, I still can’t get the HP ->HP Galactic down…it feels almost criminal.
for beating the followup of the headstomp, you need to see where Bison is after the first blocked hit, if he is right above you, std close HP will beat him.
for the HP into HP tornado, try double tapping HP after the qcf.
Its not a specific thing Im having trouble with its the entire Match-up and the stuff at the front doesnt help with HOW im suppose to play against Bison.
is there advice for the ssf4 guile matchup, other than use U2?
I actually use U1, I don’t see how U2 is practical as the ultra has to be basically psychic. I’ve actually been working on delaying my dive kicks to beat out c.hp and in some situations even s.hp. I also, am trying to work on not jumping unless I am within sweep distance because I have been eating way too much damage trying to get in on guile. I just try to make sure I have really random jump patterns and dive kicks until I get in. Once Rufus is in, it’s over.
U2 is allright if yes, you are psychic and/or can spot a jump-in the instant Guile takes off, and chances are they won’t if they’re sensible. You could try baiting Flash kicks with random triangle jumps, which could discourage the Guile from doing any Flash Kicks if they sense you’re baiting (particularly for ultra), hence allowing you a clean jump-in at some point.
Also, triangle his sweep, or FA. Your call, so long as the sweep is ever used in the match, since it’s one of the worst things a Guile could do against Rufus.
I think the matchup against guile is probably one of the worst for rufus right now, well if you can put him in the corner you get the edge, rufus can simply destroy him but if unfortunately guile escape from the corner is the end. He will chip you until your k.o. while you’re trying to get him in the other corner.
Of course i’m talking about a good guile who knows how to zoon.
Well, how do you guys deal with T.Hawk? Can’t jump in, don’t know how to punish him, this match up just makes me cringe.
Dont jump at him, you dont need to. Keep him away, use U2. Blocked condor dive = cr.hp/ walk cr.hk/Ex tornado/Ultra 2. if he dares to jump at you and u have meter, blast and EX snake strike, if you dont have meter you can std.hp to anti air him, but be careful because he might do condor dive, so wait and see what he does. Always have meter at least 1 EX bar for EX SS or EX messiah to escape difficult situations. I find this match a bit easier that gief because hawk doesnt have lariat and you can afford divekicking him on wake up, but I dont recommend it.
What about tips on Boxer? I seem lost in this match up as well.
Boxer is going to jab you right out of repeated divekicks. So, get some crossups in. Against those online Boxers who like to try to pressure with dash punches in the belief that they’re safe on block, I’ve had good success U2-ing them on reaction. Also, try to bait headbutts by whiffing divekicks.
Of course, if Boxer gets the lead on you, then, uh… Good luck. Dude’s the most effective turtler there is.
Well, i didn’t play a good Guile in Super until 3 hours ago…
Although I said the match up was in Rufus’ favor, I now consider it solid 5/5 for one reason: Buffed 3HK and juggle with 6HP.
You have to work very hard to get in and Guile can build meter while you’re trying. There’s good chance that he already has 2 bars when you get in, and then dive kick pressure becomes dangerous so you’ll have to bait flash kicks but that’s easier said than done.
If you ever put him in the corner be careful with dive kick pressure because good Guiles can air grab you pretty easily.
Guil is a pain in the air thanks to his air grab and his high priority moves. Try not to jump too much, focus and block his sonic booms and move forward carefully to close the gap. Once in a while, you can jump towards him but then again, if he guesses right you’ll eat 3HK, 6HP(around 200 or more dmg…).
You can also use mp SS to avoid being hit by sonic booms and this way if gUile is jumping towards you, chances are good that he’ll be stopped by the last hits…
3HK has high priority and it is very difficult to have it whiff by delaying your dive kicks. I think j.hp is better if you see your opponent always catching you with his 3hk.
As for the ultra, U1 is better because you can land it in more ways, but U2 is kind of good if you trap guile in the corner and if he likes to jump back hk/mk a lot to escape pressure. Anyway, I would go for U1 even though you won’t be able to land it oftenly against good Guile.
BnB for this game is j.HP, c.mk, EX GT.
Very boring and annoying match up. You’re gonna lose a lot of weight chasing the US army boy.
I agree with you, just few things:
U2 is good against a scrub guile, in the corner a good guile doesn’t jump back (like all great player), i think he has to stay very calm to escape the pressure so probably U1 is the best.
The combo you written i think is good if you can predict guile’ sonic boom but i think is a great risk, i prefer to jump as less as i can in this matchup.
Okay, now I need help with Blanka, I can’t punish his horizontal ball for the life of me. Please help.
