Ultra 2 or block the blanka ball standing and walk forward a little then do c.hp. I like to knock blanka down then pressure him, trying to bait out up balls and horiztontal balls. Dive kick s.lk s.mp hp gt is all that works in this match cause blanka is usually crouched.

Also, about the M.Snakestrike over Sonic Booms: Be careful of Guile’s sweep reach. You’re vulnerable after the Snakestrike, so if the Guile sees you doing it, you can wind up knocked down.

Yes everything I mentionned has to be done carefully and it must not be predictable.

As mentionned above by origin, the less you jump, the better it is(but since you play rufus, you don’t have a choice but to take risks sometimes). Well, it is still SF4, so don’t jump at all.

Note also c.MK stuffs Blanka electricity; throw the move into your combos so the player won’t count on electricity for escaping pressure.
Step Kick balls don’t have armour break, so it’s worth FAing them. Can block then s.HP, too.
His slide is very vulnerable and punishable. Equally, don’t forget how far he actually slides.
Jump in only if crossing up. Blanka has many ways to stuff jump-ins.

Fundamentally, you need to be unrelenting with pressure. Poking and zoning won’t work well unless you have a very good idea of what they and you are doing. Granted Rufus is a rushdown character, and while capable of being defensive must be on the attack.

Fine and dandy me saying this all because I struggle with Blanka, but the reason why is because I try to zone and poke too much, lacking the confidence in the matchup. Blanka has plenty more zoning options of his own, while Rufus has many more options up close.

You can also jump hk, ex snake strike/u1 blocked stepkick balls.

he uses u2. three things he does that i liked, were fa’ing booms for u2 meter, and he baited c.fierces and punished w/ c.lpXXEXtornado.

need help against hawk i dont kno wat to do with rufus

What problems are you having specifically? I think that a lot of players approach this match quite differently than they do Gief simply because Hawk doesn’t have a lariat, but IMO you should approach it pretty much in the same manner. Deal the bulk of your damage with pokes and dive kick shenanigans until you’ve trained him not to command grab after blocked dive kicks. St.hp stuffs hawk dives cleanly, you just have to practice the timing. If you catch them a couple times with that, they’ll probably start empty jumping often, to which j.hk/EX SS works wonders. Basically, you’ll end up doing a lot of poking, baiting, and training in this match just like you do with Gief. Late cross up dive kicks on wake up is really good in this match up too. If Hawk gets close and starts spamming lp/mp pokes to zone you, EX GT his ass and make him think twice about playing that game.

I need big help with E.Honda and Akuma.

E.Honda:
Can’t seem to get in at all.
I do take my time, but it usually ends with me losing.
Can’t cr.mp his butt slam.

Akuma:
Don’t know what to do when hes cornered, I have no ultra, and he teleports away.
Thats about it.

E.Honda:
Getting in can be tough, but you have to make sure to keep it low. Honda can easily punish floaty jumps with nj.hp and his headbutt. Use lots of abbreviated dive kicks to get in as well as his roll kick. Once you’re in, work hard to get an untechable knockdown. Once he’s down, it’s tough for Honda to react to Rufus’ shenanigans. The key is to get over Honda while he’s down. A quick dive kick can do this. This makes Honda lose his charge for headbutt and severely limits his wakeup options. If you’re able to get over quickly and then come back over with a cross-up dive kick, then he shouldn’t be able to react with anything worth worrying about. High-low hit confirm combos work well vs Honda because he has trouble reacting in a flurry of block stun. Try this combo: cr.lk, cr.lp, st.lp, cr.lp xx EX GT.

Akuma (in the corner):
Unfortunately, you have to play an old school corner trap game vs Akuma since you can’t safe jump him and he can just teleport away from cross-up dive kicks, leaving you in the corner. For me, I use the mentality that it’s better to cater my game to keeping him in the corner than it is to get max damage. Stay outside of SRK range, and keep him there with your pokes (mp, mk, cr.hp if you get pushed back). If he hops forward, backwards, or neutral, EX SS him (hp SS works too but is easier to beat, especially if he throws out a quick fireball). If he teles and you’re back at poke range, you can easily dash and punish hard.

im having some trouble with bison. especially when i knock him down, he seems to have so many options to escape rufus’s pressure. how can i limit or elimnmate most of his options

Yes, U2 stuffs so many of his options it’s enough to scare a Bison into a corner when you have it ready.

Anyone have advice vs Dee Jay? I fought one that turtled hard, and used autocorrect EX upkicks on makeup to beat my divekick pressure attempts.

Also on honda, well time roll kicks will hit him when he lands from a neutral jump hp. It’s a good way to get in and hit honda. You can also anti air U2 honda if he does a neutral jump hp from the same distance where a roll kick would hit him. I’ve done the ultra when honda was on his descent from the neutral jump and it still hit him, but that may have been because the player didn’t block or tried reversal headbutt.

Does U2 punish headbutts as well?

U2 should punish headbutts. Haven’t tested it thoroughly, but should be reliable based on the times I’ve done it in matches.

ok, i realized the biggest problem im having against bison is his cr. short to sci kick pressure, i cant seem to deal with it that great with rufus. somtimes i can punish his scissors kick on block with a crouching jab into ex gt, but sometimes hes to far after block and that doesn’t work. then i try to jump out of his pressure and he standing round houses me. any ideas on what i can do
