Quick question, what can I do to get close to Sagat? I’m pretty much done if Sagat is able to zone me properly.
Two questions about M. Bison (dictator).
How do i punish the S.RH? What should i do to make him stop using that thing, its a deadly weapon and stops most of my jump ins.
My other question is
How do you get out of the dicatator’s Lk scissors loop on the ground?
I would really like some help with this if you can. thanks!
Best thing to do is DK over the projectiles… and slowly try to inch closer. If you can close a gap to a small gap you can just ex messiah right through them.
You can also fadc through one of them and immediately ex messiah over the next. It’s not something to abuse as it is really easy to bait out if they’re expecting it but it will get you in from time to time.
Hey Dudes -
I have checked the thread and haven’t found totally satisfying information on the Gen match up. I was wondering if anyone has experience vs the old man and wouldn’t mind sharing.
I find his piano DP kick stops any jump in offense (even dive kicks unless you cross up) and his MK > hands makes a pretty beefy wall. I just can’t get started on a rushdown because of Gen’s deceptively offensive defense. Once I get a knockdown, I’m fine but it’s often hard to get in close enough to score that knockdown.
Any ideas?
How do I stop a wall-diving-crossover happy Vega.
I just can’t predict what he’ll do next. On wake up its either that b,f+k or the escape shit.
Guessing I should just go close and block, Cr.FP will hit him when he tries to escape?
You do realize his overhead wall dives you can FADC and punish with a hp xx tornado.
the problem is that he can grab you instead after a walldive. Best advice I can give you is to learn to judge the distance of his walldives and EX SS his ass, you can even be more daring and go for j.hk. On wakeup he has only 1 way of escaping, the backflip shit. even EX walldive can be beaten on wakeup by a meaty attack
I’ve had a lot of luck simply jumping back and J.HK against walldiving Claws. It won’t combo into stuff, but I’ve yet to see it get beaten when done on reaction… And walldives give you plenty of reaction time. A lot of the Claws I’ve played (online, mind you, so this isn’t exactly pro shit, but the ones who at least know what they’re doing) get downright afraid of the jumpback-HK, and respond to jumpbacks with simply canceling the attack.
This is good info, I’m kinda sad it got ignored. So I’m quoting it.
Gen
As soon as he does his wall jump, press s.hp. You have to make sure you hit s.hp as soon as gen hits the wall he’s going to jump off in order to stuff it clean. Otherwise you will lose or trade. Do not try to j.hk or j.hp because you will lose.
Yeah, I understand he can throw you from the dive but the grab range on that is so incredibly shitty. I usually take the gamble because the pay off is huge. Either way most solid Vega players don’t even use wall dives much at all.
lol you can’t punish standing rh, i think the best thing you can do is simply do a high divekick when he’s setting up for one (he won’t be holding d/b so ex headstomp risk is minimal) and divekick past him almost. hold forward when you do it. if you graze him even better. once you’re in, you can just say “fuck your roundhouse” and get in his grill.
lk scissors loop is safe, i tend to either try to ex messiah it or just wait for a mistake. he’s not going to chip you to death with it, you have to be getting hit for it to be effective. stop pressing buttons, basically.
I tend to play pretty patient against gen because his air to air moves have good priority and he needs to be played aggressively. Most of my gen experience comes from playing asiantom, who is a really good gen and tricky. The biggest thing is that you have to recognize patterns with gens, for example after a jump in, they will either grab you, or go for a s.mp xx hands combo. If you block the jump in just go for an ex messiah cause its safe as shit and will do a ton of damage and get a good knockdown. Neutral jump hk is pretty good in this match too. A good habit to get into is using rufus’ s.hp and c.hk at max range to catch them off guard. The spacing is really key though because a whiffed poke can create a big damage combo cause of gens really low jump arc. As far as his DP goes, that move tends to suck cause of its angle so i just aim my dive kicks higher on gen until the player realizes not to go for the DP then i can lower the dive kicks. Also, j.mk crosses gen up sometimes when he is both standing and crouching.
What situations is cr. HP NOT to be used? I found out the hard way that a blocked cr. HP against a Chun with ultra, or Boxer with super should not be done. Anything else?
It can be punished with cammy’s ultra (probably super?), abels ultra, and i think ryu’s super as well. I can’t play until the end of the week but it would be interesting to see if gen’s PPP ultra or super can punish it. I would also test vega’s ultra cause it has a pretty fast startup as well.
Interesting. I don’t have my xbox right now so can’t confirm. How often/in what situation does the j.mk cross up gen?
Also, mashing EX messiah after the jump in will get you in trouble if you do it too often. It doesn’t always connect, depending on where Gen’s jump-in crosses up. I’ve found that early in a Gen matchup, it’s fairly safe to build meter with light SS, but don’t do it close to Gen, his DP can kick you out of it.
Yea, obviously don’t do it everytime, but if you are getting constantly pressured its the best tool you have to escape/deal out some damage. Also if his wall jump kick gets blocked deep it is punishable, like claws or bisons devil reverse. So if he goes for a meaty cross up wall jump, block from the direction gen jumped towards the wall, and punish with s.lk s.hk or whatever.
I could be wrong about this, but IIRC the Ultra bar only has two states. Half-filled and filled. If you use your ultra anywhere between these states, you will get a damage-equivalent to a half-filled ultra bar.
How do you keep bison under pressure when he has meter? Hes got a million ways to get away and I find it really hard to keep him here I want him. Its one of my hardest and most frustrating matches.
