Any matchup advice on viper? I know 0 in this match besides cr.mp/snake strike super jumps.
how do ppl rate rufus’ ground game?
Great question. I’d like to know as well.
I feel as though Rufus might have the worst set of pokes in the game, but I’m also willing to acknowledge that my suckage is beyond epic.
I dislike it alot lol, it annoys me on certain match ups feel like I haven’t got any decent moves to dish out unless I get back into the air for a combo. Forward + MK is kinda useless always at a frame disadvantage, pokes in general cant really scare anyone pressure wise. His only two decent ground moves is his roll and GT. :lame:
I actually think that he has decent pokes. Sure, he isn’t Ryu but he is still pretty good.
St.MP has decent range and pretty good priority.
The same can be said with St.MK.
Cr.MK is my favorite because you can cancel it into HP GT which catches people off guard.
St.HP is godlike imo. It loses/trades to some characters but decimates most in ground to air battles
^^^
St.MP is decent enough I guess and I hardly use St.HP only against Geif matches really lol I should start using it more.
Cr.MK is alright I still think it should have more range, hardly can poke with that move at all.
(He’s like 6Ft5, he cant believe he has short legs rofl)
Rufus vs El Fuerte… I find this a very favourable matchup for our favourite rotund fighter
^^ Yet again a very underrated character, big guessing game and personal opinion I think his air game is far better then Rufus. Hes got one EX air move which stuffs snake strike or any other sort of aerial moves lol. His range for his flying throw moves I think has an extension. EG: Ken’s Forward + MK has alot of range, El Fuerte would be able to overpass that leg for the flying throw / Same thing can happen with a hadouken. He rapes Zangeif with ease rofl.
Bottom line is after he gets that knock down your kinda fucked lool Splash or cross splash, slide, Infinite loop and he can just abuse one of his air throws.
I’m wondering, what sort of things can you use to link his Messiah? and not just his ex ones
does anyone kno how to fight fuerte? he so fast and wen ur waking up he has the splash, the sweep and if he predicts ex messiah kick he can use is air throw its very frustrating.
The point of El Fuerte is that when he scores a knockdown, his tools make it a dangerous guessing game when you wake up - your best bet is either guess a direction to block and hope you’re right, reversal LP snake strike (you hop over slides, and can catch grabs, but it doesnt always work), jump up, or dash/backdash. Another trick is that if you successfully block a crossup splash (or maybe even a regular one) you can reversal ultra him). In general though you have to realize that you have to pressure him enough, without making mistakes yourself, so that he isnt able to implement his wakeup games on you, because without that he’s just a low stamina character with who hops around a lot.
I’m not positive about this but I think the time between startup and active frames is just too high to cancel into a non-EX messiah, excepting maybe a crumple stun. However, a few good applications of non-EX messiah are:
characters whose regular pokes are low to the ground, e.g. Ryu/Ken c. mk, boxer c.lp spam, as a reset (instead of you doing a jab block string, you jab then LK messiah, which catches a low poke they threw out in that artificial opening)
HK messiah over fireballs if they’re predictable enough (this works especially well on Sagat if you can duck his high shots until he is only throwing low ones)
this is similar to the first one, but if you’re being very predictable with throws and notice your opponent is teching them a lot, a LK messiah instead of a throw when you normally do it is a nice/easy way to get the FADC ultra
thnx 4 the advice but its gonna take alot of practice fighting fuerte before i can own him
now i gotta new problem GOUKEN! this guy does a good job at keeping away better than ryu and sagat imo i tried cr.F wen he did upward hado but got my ass pwnd anyone familiar with this matchup
Man the only character I have problems with is Zangief and Blanka.
Zangief needs no explanation, I just need more experience, and mixups.
Blanka, however, is a different story. I love using the dive kicks, as many of you do too. And whenever I see pro-Rufus players (Kindevu and Justin Wong), fight Blankas, they dive kick Blanka all the time. But whenever I do it online, they do the electric. Its so efficient. Why don’t pro-Blanka users use electric against Rufus’s Dive Kick anyway? Any suggestions, people?
A meaty cross up dive kick beats out electricity. But I mean it has to be perfect timing.
Normally if you mix it up enough. A Blanka can’t electricity on reaction. Try not to be so focused on divekicks. Cr. MK is your friend in this match up.
I use tornados against Gouken more than in maybe any other matchup. I usually start out the match focusing hados and dashing forward to let him know that I’m not jumping into upward fireballs for shit. The fewer Gouken throws upward the better. Then the tornado onslaught can begin.
If you can get Gouken to think he has to win with jump/flip shenans it’s only a matter of time before you catch him with j. hk.
Tornado is also crucial early on to make Gouken stop his wakeup parrying. Once Gouken has revenge meter and you’ve already crushed a couple of his parries you can switch to crossup dives or max range early ex tornados on his wakeup to be safe from the ultra and keep pressure on.
These strategies won’t get you any perfects, but the idea is to break down Gouken’s usual habits and demoralize him by the end of the match.
I’m having trouble with a rushdown Sakura. The player is very crafty with using her FA’s quick startup time to neutralize my footsie game. Its like a race to see who can corner who first, than punish.
her anti-air game isnt very good. rush that shit down hard and fast. c.lk xx lp tornado will either force her to block low. and if she FA’s the c.lk your tornado will break her focus.
Good points. Yeah I really shouldn’t make it obvious I’m going to use the Dive Kick. But instead bait the opponent into thinking, I guess. My own stubborness makes me persistent to keep using Dive Kicks on the Blanka waking up until it works though hah.
