I’m struggling hardcore against Rufus with Chun-Li and was hoping to get some match ups against Rufus if anyone is interested. I am also looking for a Rufus counter to practice as well (Ryu, Bison or Blanka) so I can play those characters to help you with your trouble matches. How do you punish blocked head buts? (EX and normal)
When is a good time to advance?
And how do I deal with the repeated sumo smashes?
I have no problem when i get in on Bison, but when he starts spamming Hk and mk what can i do to consistently counter?
I tried c.st but that works only at a specific range, very tight. and st.for looses.
If i jump in/ dive kick, i eat another st.hk. (recovery is so fast)
Any ideas?
If anyone didn’t know when blocking you can “Counter-Hit” Chun li’s Ultra, right before the last hit connects “EX messiah FADC Ultra”.
Very useful to know when there trying to end it with chip damage.
From full screen I like to dive kick head butts, and focus smashes whenever I can react in time.

So many f’n Blankas. The ones that I was beating have all quit. The ones that beat me? F’n Ultra. I hate this dude. So damn scrubby. He gets so much for doing so little. He’s like a little green Lariat.
If it weren’t for facing Dime on my way to po-ing a Sagat, I’d be frustrated right now.
Matchup Question:
When Green Fucker freezes his ultra mid screen and you can’t afford to take the block tick, what’s the option to avoid him altogether? This would be hard/impossible to test in practice because I can’t fake a reaction for timing. Help much appreciated.

So… How do you guys deal with the noobs that jump around like they’ve got a ferret stuck up their ass? This seems to be what I struggle with. I know s.hp + c.mp is good AA along with SS but I struggle to hit them most of the time. Unfortunately seeing as most noobs employ this tactic, I’m finding it hard to win a championship. I’ve got to the finals quite a few times but can’t win one for toffee as it’s generally some Shoto/sagat player who loves to bounce!
Playing people who play “properly” I can happily play against as they don’t do this… I got around 900BP and seemed to have broken away from people that do this, now with championship mode I gotta do it again (I got most of my BP playing Rose and only played Rufus higher up, so never really had to deal with them). Any advice appreciated <3
noobs who jump around I usually crouch-block and cr.MP their jump-ins. if they’re mad hoppy, work out their pattern then j.HK > owwwumadd them and they tend to stop bouncing then you can go to work. just practice the spacing and timing of cr.MP, srsly. it’s a godlike normal tht is crucial if you don’t want to get worked by jump-ins w/ruf. if you only have 900bp, I’m guessing you’ve not played many games w/rufus so it’ll come eventually.

Missed headbutts in front of me - st.HP xx HP Tornado. Missed headbutts behind me - no idea. Sweep?
Do not know the answer to the Blanka question. : / Do you mean he is mid-screen and 1+ characters away? 1 character away, dunno. 2 characters+ away, wait for him to drop then just jump over him. If he is mid-screen and up close and you have meter, block the low ‘stun’ portion (it does no damage, chip or otherwise) then immediately EX messiah as he rises upwards, beats it clean. If you have no meter, ggpo.
Target combo whiffs on crouching characters :(.
But of course, it is character specific.

I don’t know, I am just starting to actually develop my Rufus. Been messing around seeing what I can find out for too long.
