Anyone having an issue against boxer with dive kicks? They seem to whiff for no reason when you are in his face and Im getting punished/throwed when I know the kick should be hitting, its pretty rare =/
hahaha, i personally wouldn’t do that unless it was for the win because of how well s.hp beats it clean
or just focus attacking and lvl 2’ing him into combos
damn, i think DSP might be like a retarded dog, how many times did gief hit his cr.hp with the tornado and he still tried it?
focus attack.
Yeah that works, It wasn’t the headstomp>punch, but whatever his move is with the punch instead where it’s a fake headstomp…whatever you call it. FA works though. Thanks.
Here’s the thing about crouching mp and head stomp. I was trying to do this in training mode just now testing the FA on the other move. How do you hit cr.mp when you’re close about half screen or less. It does not seem possible. I tried different timing but could never hit him.
You have to bring it out abit early, so when its comming towards you in the air I think its about one character space or closer. Then you bring out the Cr.mp.
Vs Zangief:
Just had this stupidly close match where I end up using my Ultra in his face expecting him to Lariat me on wakeup or something.
“America sheds a tear!” and then…
I hear “For Mother Russia!”
…god damn, right?
SOS connects, and then I win the game against this 8000+ point Zangief. Good stuff.
I still get stupid though and eat UAB in other games because of stupid things like failing to resist the urge to Falcon Kick combo Zangief to death (stupid!), a bad habit I picked up after Falcon rushing crappy Zangief players.
Vs Blanka:
I’m actually winning a lot in this matchup (Blanka’s no longer at the bottom of my Character win% list), very much thanks to reading through this thread. It helps a lot when they aren’t doing random electric shenanigans, for me though. Beat a whole bunch of annoying 6000+ people picking Blanka because they all know we hate him.
Vs Akuma:
I treat every Akuma like they will just do fireball runaway shenanigans, so for the first hit I’ll smack them once with a Glory Kick poke after a Gou Zankuu and camp on the other side and wait until time is over. Fire Hadou, Gou Hadou, Gou Zankuu, dodge/focus/Galactic Tornado as needed, rinse and repeat. Then when time is short, just punish them for panicked offense attempts.
The ones that know how to teleport a lot though, annoying!
Vs Sagat

F1xxy, do you mind sharing what your game-plan is against blankas? In particular, what to do after you get a knockdown… I tend to dive kick into electricity or get vertical blanka-balled whenever i try cross-ups.
Yeah, it’s tempting to try and dive on them after a knockdown (and who doesn’t love a good dive kick beatdown on anyone?), but you have to stop the bad habit of trying for it, and just stay just about sweeping range after knocking him down. Just sweep or jab if they electric, depending on your range; block if they try a lower attack like that sliding punch, or if they rainbow roll/vertical roll, let it go over you and crouching high punch if you can reach for them.
<3F1
against sagat, this is what i do.
-never jump forward, only straight up, and divekick to gain ground.
-c.mp anytime he jumps at me.
-time c.hp to hit when he does hi/lo tiger shots(simutaneously with high, and hitting him before/at the same time with low), also for when he does random s.rk’s/ s.F+rk(aim for recovery of it)
-corral him to the corner keeping 2 character’s distance with above said tactics
-once in corner, rtsd upon knockdown.
-punish tk’s with c.mpXXhp tornado. (according to frame data you can do s.close hp too, but i’m already crouching and so do c.mp more often than not).
-option select tech throw against blocked ex tk’s
-uppercuts punish accordingly.
-EX messiah kick through super/ultra
Definitely going to try to not jump forward. Another bad habit to break.
I apologize if it’s been mentioned somewhere before, what does “rtsd” mean?
edit Hah, I think it means Retreat To Sweeping Distance. How silly of me. (was rattling brain through acronym combinations like crazy for the last few minutes)
I’m loving that ex messiah kick more and more.
Thanks for the pointers, I’ll keep 'em in mind for the next Sagats I’ll face.

Rufus’ cr.MP and EX Allah Kick are the two best moves in the game imo.
Rush That Shit Down.
Even better than my stupid guess. Thank you.
<3F1
but if they block EX mahoma kick youre in serious trouble
BTW check this vid, this guy does a nice punishment to blankas ultra:

you can replace ultra with snake/EX snake obivously
Cross-posted from the thread cos it’s a textbook display of gbursine’s match outline above. Remember to turn down the volume.
You got any vids of you playing fatty on live? Let us be the judge
No, I agree with justin. DSP seems to know some of the Rufus basics but he definitely doesn’t use him to his potential.
Another highly situational tidbit here, dunno if this is common knowledge: if Ryu tries to meaty Ultra you from point blank to win the round by chip and you have your Ultra stocked, reversal Ultra-ing goes through his fireball.
gbursine’s Sagat run-down is great, thanks dude. Do you have similar game plans you could share for Ryu/Balrog?
My Sagat’s game gotten a little better, thanks very much gbursine.
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned before, but LP Snake Strike stops Blanka’s horizontal EX ball? Had it happen just a while ago, I’ll get to testing this right away. Hate when EX ball crosses up on SOS though, bleh.
edit Done testing, maybe? The timing is iffy and icky, and only had it clean one time out of 30. Better just doing cr. LP, st. LP or st. MP. I guess I got lucky with the hit in that game: I was using Snake Strikes since he kept attempting Rainbow/Vertical Roll “mixups” and LP Snake Strike came out when I realized I didn’t have enough for EX SS. /edit
On Balrog, If he’s a corner, I can’t seem to cross him up as effectively.
Played a lot of Seths yesterday, at least 6. One won, but the rest weren’t so great. Not that he’s entirely difficult, but any pointers? The one that won was rather scary, in one round, he pulled a full non-stop combo on me, stun included, and almost killed me with a perfect. I got a comeback and beat him with about 5% of my life left… just one EX Snake Strike and an Ultra finished him, but he put up a good enough fight to beat me the remaining two rounds. It’s almost like Dhalsim and Akuma combined for this matchup.
Can anyone enlighten me on how their E. Honda matches are going? I’ve seen people say that he’s a hard matchup, but he’s actually one of my easiest, and no, not the silly ones who just headbutt/splash all day.
I’ve yet to play a good Dhalsim. My rate against Dhalsim is 100%, but that’s only because I’ve played 12 or so. Met some players who knew a few tricks, but I already knew to block high on Teleports.

Blanka users have been tearing my Rufus to shreds lately. It’s disheartening that I almost don’t pick Rufus for that fight but I still try to do it.
Apparently Rufus’s jump ins get owned everyday by that electricity unless you predict the electricity and dive kick at the edges of Blanka? His dive kick gets stuffed every time from above but I accidentally hit Blanka out of it by hitting closer to the edges, rather than the whole of his body. I don’t know, maybe I just imagined actually landing a dive kick on a Blanka.
-cr.hp is great from long distances at punishing the electricity.
-Vert Roll is going to stuff out every dive kick you have to offer that they don’t want to elec
Fought Boxer about 20 times in the past two days, I’ve gotten them down pretty well.
-Tornado beats out long range dash punches and that nasty turn punch.
-Dive kick is bad here, headbutt stuffs it every time I’ve tried. And I’ve eaten a few Ultras because of it.
-EX messiah if they dash punch at the end of their cr.lp onslaught. EX messiah if they EX their dash punch. EX messiah beats a headbutt, unsure about an EX headbutt, haven’t seen one yet.
Dictator can be a pain if they sit down and wait on you to rush over.
-Head stomp gets snuffed by jumping straight up and pressing hp. Devil Reverse gets a trade if they hit your hands, wins outright if above/below you.
-Tornado beats psycho crusher if you time it like a fireball. Trades with EX crusher and they get knocked down. You just get knocked back.
-Scissors kick is hard/impossible to punish if it’s lk version. Haven’t done it yet.
Honda gives me problems too.
-Headbutt gets snuffed by tornado if you time it like a fireball. EX headbutt hurts. Super hurts more. Ultra hurts about as much as Super.
-Hundred Hands kills everything but a well aimed dive kick and EX Messiah. I’ve been hit out of an EX tornado before he could even suck Honda in.
-Dive kick his wake-ups. Tornado can be subject to sumo throw.
-Don’t jump if Honda has Ultra (Common sense)
Seth is just plain horrible. I haven’t lost yet. Just trade with him in everything he does. Play him like a sim actually.
-When he jumps back and hp, jump forward and hk. Get ready to Ultra or EX SS.
-His normal hp is free Ultra bar. Just focus and dash backwards.
-If they TP next to you, EX messiah for 40% damage. Just about murder if you have an Ultra bar.
