Northwest VFers

me…

I’m gonna play at Evo 2k8

Yeah, I’ve always wanted to get decent at least at vf, but I was using akira and his shit is hard as fuck to do.

I’m not making this up, it even says so in the goddamn strategy guide!

i’ve been playing lau he’s pretty dope ^^ i’m not too fond of akira because he doesn’t seem to have many low mid mix ups it’s basically all mid c.c; which is fine because you win vs akira bye blocking up haha. sometimes.

Is Nick(Chanchai) going to EVO World?

I believe so.

Nick cannot make it to World this year.

what!??
chanchai is not coming??? oh my gosh lol there is no place i can stay at evo now… I have to find it.

i am sure you can stay with NW somehow we will find room!

Hey all!

I am really sorry I haven’t posted since before Evo West… Really, really sorry about that. I am so grateful for everything everyone’s said and all the support. I can’t even count it all, a lot of people gave me wonderful support.

Before I get on to the direct thanking… I should post the bad news. The really bad news is that I can’t make it to Evo World this year.

I have been looking forward to Evo World since March and it was a huge goal. I even got myself a seeded spot, but I won’t be able to represent or fill it. It’s very frustrating, but it’s also a decision I had to make.

The main reason I can’t make it to World is work, but I don’t want to make it sound like I blame work. To be honest, my boss will let me go to Evo World, actually. However, I really love this new job and it’s a startup that has been giving me amazing opportunities to test myself.

And sadly, the Evo World decision is one of those tests that wasn’t intended, but I had to face this year. I am really needed at work, and we’re at a critical phase where my commitment and role is vital for supporting and keeping the company moving on a very good path. The amount of responsibility I am entrusted with is gigantic and more than I’ve ever been trusted with. Again, work would gladly let me go to Evo World, but I can see that going would actually be dropping the ball big time.

So… I am sorry that I won’t be going to Evo World. It may even seem like I’m abandoning the path we’re on… but, actually, I do believe that the success of my company would be a benefit to competitors like us. More on that in the future, when the time comes.

That said, even if I did go to Evo World, my budget is severely tight.

Anyways, back to appreciation… Everyone here has been wonderful. @js started the props, but the support has been way more than I expected.

Mackinzie and the Portland Crew called me the day before the Evo West Finals (actually, they called me the day of, at 3am… and I was to wake up at 7am to make it to San Diego… but I love the love and you guys brought it!). Thank you guys so much for cheering me on and giving me props for staying in the Winner’s Bracket at that point.

Thanks to Shag from NYC who called me an hour before the final tournament and sent some awesome NYC wishes to myself and the SoCal crew.

Thanks to the SoCal players who made the trip absolutely amazing. I’m glad I supplied a Carlsbad “Mansion” but you guys supported the fun! The VF gatherings all weekend was freaking awesome! LA Akira and Plague especially contributed but every single person that came to Carlsbad was totally awesome.

Thanks to Unsafe Dan for being an awesome dude, being a great opponent in the Winner’s Bracket semifinals (honestly, I’m surprised I survived our match), and the props you gave in this corner of SRK. You’ve been giving VF a lot of love on SRK and VFDC and trust me, I appreciate it SO MUCH! Keep posting, bro!

Thanks to Amir (of 3s fame) for taking pictures and being a very cool dude. You never brought it up, but other people told me the crap you have to put up with because of your lifestyle. Props to you for keeping your head up high, being an awesome guy, and of course your 3s game.

Thanks to the Washington and Portland players and friends who all gave so much support and called. Femto, I got your call and I greatly appreciate it! Rayblade, thanks for keeping me up to date and in-touch with the fighting game community while work and lovelife distracted me from the game for a long time (and technically, still). I greatly appreciate you and Mackinzie being that link, keeping me connected.

I will be back, btw. Just that things are crazy and will be for two more months.

Yosuke, thanks for being you and being my friend. I feel so bad for letting you down by not being at Evo World this year. I was looking forward to it so much… I hope the Portland players can find a way to make room for you, though I know their room is full. We’ll try to get the word out and make sure that you and Itazan are taken care of. I AM SO SORRY… I wonder if there is an e-mail problem though. I sent you an e-mail a few weeks ago and I thought I mentioned that I probably will not go to Evo World… But either way, I am very sorry.

I really want you to be able to enjoy Vegas… I also hope your essays have been going well. I haven’t had any e-mails from you about those, so I was worried that we might be having e-mail troubles.

FatBear, thanks for your heads up to me. You know my response and you know I’m so looking forward to it

Washington crew, thanks a lot for the great words. I look forward to meeting a lot of you, since we still haven’t met. Again, Femto, thanks for everything. You’ve been awesome. Sorry I haven’t returned the calls, just been busy with stuff.

I haven’t felt so honored in the Northwest Fighting Game Community like I have this Summer.

I do feel bad for not responding or posting in a long time, though. However, I have been both a work-a-holic and love-sick lately. However, pretty soon, I really hope I can get back in the game and push myself forward.

I still love VF5 a ton. It’s just that love, work, and family have taken a lot of time lately and they come before it.

THANK YOU ALL!

-Chanchai

no problem. I will find a place where i can stay. I would be with KOF players as I stayed in chicago.

hmm…it seems like you are going to quit vf5 like maddy. do you know how long it would be?is that 2 months? when can you be back? is it soon, or more than 1 year? I will not play vf in seattle as long as you don’t play because almost no one is interested in VF there.

I will keep playing VF5  Now I have to, I can’t have Yosuke not play VF! It’s just not right! However, for two months (September and October) I will be incredibly busy. That said, if I have an apartment at that time, it’s open to guests

When I move into a new apartment, I will let you know!

I will probably only be able to play VF5 once a week during the two months though… Hopefully more.

There are quite a few people around me that want to learn VF though (SRK and non-SRK people) so I will probably be playing some VF on the side when I can, because I definitely want more VF players

I know someone who is going to Evo that has told me you and Itazan can stay with him in Las Vegas during Evo. Hint: he has played both of you and plays Shun… and you hung out with him recently

With VF5 version C coming out for 360 with online play in October, I think you will definitely see a lot more Seattle VF players soon

I am hoping the 360 version brings a lot of life to Northwest VF. But I also love the current crew we have in the Northwest (including you of course!).

I see. I am kind of wondering if Itabashi can stay at your house( i mean your new apartment). he really wants to experience a lot of things in the us( kind of as much as he can) he will stay in LA, but I want him to go to Portland since it has different system and view of the us such as tax. if you open it during middle of september, I will go there too. I am on a vacation before the quarter.

I see. it is going to be him… but I want itabashi to stay with SNK players. he said he prefers it, too because he won’t be able to meet them after evo. I don’t know if I buy VF5 on 360 because I will need a stick lol. stick is going to be more expensive than the game… what the world is going on in the us?? haha.

this is kinda out of the blue and all but isn’t the xbox 360 version of VF5 supposed to be on live? I know most people have no idea who i am (at least those in the VF5 scene) but the interest to play this game is still there, and if it’s on live and the lag isn’t an issue, i think i’ll be able to learn a lot.

VF5 is on XLive.

I won’t be getting this as soon as I thought, since I’m saving up for a tattoo. On the other hand this could save me time to see if PS3 will get ver.C. I’m hesitant about getting the 360.

For those of you dudes still interested in Virtua Fighter, Yosuke returns on the 10th. I guess for college.

I haven’t heard from Chanchai for a while so I assume he is busy with his stuff.

Release of 360 version is just around the corner so save your money if thats your version of choice.

It’s been so long… and opportunities were missed…

Well, life is still crazy for me, but I’m still crazy for VF. Wanted to bring this thread back up from the ashes and hopefully do my part to get the Northwest VFing rolling again.

I so horribly regret not being able to meet with Itazan… I am pretty sure I will eventually go to Japan though, so I hope I might be able to meet him in the future…

How has everyone been?

I’m gonna try to play some VF again with some of you, hopefully this Friday night

Anyways, back to work & projects for me…

-Chanchai

YAR chanchai is back from the dead?

hope to see you soon ^^

Thanks to Yosuke for stomping all of us last night in VF5 at Zach’s, the game’s looking even more fun to play now! Wish that the end of the month would get here sooner =[.

Any feedback from last night would be great. But I know trying to find that from how i was playing will be pretty hard considering that I’m still in the dark about the game.

If you haven’t dl’ed the demo from XBL Marketplace yet, here’s a video:
