cloudfan i got a phone call from my girlfriend during that last match and had to head out right after, my bad haha
^Add you as a host house? If you just want to be added as an online friend then you have to go to first page and read and follow the directions.
Sorry I’ve been slammed with work so I haven’t even asked about anyone hosting. Well I kinda pointed people here hoping they would volunteer.
Tonight a friend of mine from work will be over. I don’t think he is very good(He might have gotten better). He plays Sakura and Juri(?) So he and I will be rotating. If it works out I may be able to have more people over, but I don’t get off work until 12am, so it might be too late for most people to bother.
We’ll get online probably around 12:30am or so. So send us an invite if you have room
I won’t be on that late, but Mackenzie normally is over and plays pretty late at my house
360/XBL: AMurderOfCrows
Bah! I posted after that post but it did the SRK double post. So I deleted one, but it did the SRK Double delete! So yeah that was last night that he was over.
So I’ll type this up again: GG’s to everyone that we played last night.
My friend had fun even though, he can’t play on my joystick and was losing so badly. I’m sure he’ll get better in time. Going to try and help him get his PS3 set up with internet on friday, so hopefully we’ll see more of him.
Was my first time fighting Zangief as Hawk. Can’t believe Headbutt beats my DP clean! I mean wtf?!
I’m starting to grudgingly admit Hawks flaws. I know I can take him much farther than I have, as my game as a whole needs work. He has some tricks that I haven’t perfected, but I’m not sure he has the tools in the long run to be viable. The more I play him, the more I realize how linear and predictable he is (or maybe I’m linear and predictable). Which really saddens me. Zangief just has a lot more tools imo. T.Hawk was the only one who I was REALLY excited to play. Still going to main him, but expect me to break out my ultra scrubby Ibuki, Juri, Honda, and Bison more often.
Lastly, @Dusty Blastoise sorry we didn’t get any games in man. Wasn’t sure what exactly was going on. I think I’m going to get a headset just because it would be so much easier to just be like “Hey! Invite AIDSbot!” Takes forever to type it up for me. There were some other people that I was hoping to get to play as well that I missed. We’ll have to get some things hammered out, but I did see that a lot of people were online, or had just gotten offline, so hopefully people got some games in. Just be friendly and send out those invites (directed @ everybody)
I just added my GT.
If I haven’t met you I’m Phil. Lol
yeah headsets are the way to go, half of the fun of playing online is being able to talk with different people. speeds up my learning process.
A Murder of Crows what nights are you typically on? ive been playing a lot week nights around 6 and later because Joe(slayu2) gets off of work around then. Ninjetek has been pretty active online too.
i tried adding cole but his list is full lol, adding some more of you seattle guys though and anyone in oregon.
I HAAATE the PSN networks’ headset thing. Like, you can use any bluetooth to hook up a headset, I’m sure I could even figure out a way to use a USB mic to do it, but the sound quality is TRASH over the network.
Besides that, Stricnine, no worries dude, I had a lobby of a few people and was hoping to get you in on it, but it happens. We’ll get games in sooooooon! Funny running into KK last night, he trashed meee.
I think the psn mic system is fine as long as you have a good mic and the developers of the game program the online properly. I use the sony branded PS3 headset that has great sound quality, but a little uncomfortable after awhile do to its design.
Ok, I have a request/announcement.
I think that I’m pretty terrible at footsies. I understand the concept, but I think I’m pretty fail at it.
So I’m going to be trying to play more with no special moves for a while to improve. I think it’s really important with T.Hawk, Honda, and Bison, but I will also be messing with Juri. Honestly I did some training mode today and I think Juri has some pretty awesome normals, Hawk has good ones, but his AA’s are kinda tough to use. So my goal at the moment is to get better @ footsies and making the most of my normal moves.
That is the announcement part, the request part is simply that while playing me, if you notice things that I’m doing wrong, please don’t hesitate to send me a PM here. (Much easier than trying to type it up with a joystick. And sometimes I can’t hear mics very well.)
So yeah, any tips or comments are welcome. I would really like to be a solid player and the more I play the more I realize that I have a lot of things that I can improve on.
Edit: Also wondering if you think it might be cool to set up certain Tuesdays for character improvement. Like if there is something in particular you are wanting to work on, post up here and maybe we can work on it.
Example: Player A posts: “I can’t seem to tech throws can we work on that on Tuesday? Just taunt @ the beginning of the match to let me know.”
Players B,C,D invite Player A and proceeds to implement a lot of throws into their games including tick and kara throws. Until Player A begins to recognize when a throw is coming and is able to tech them fairly consistently.
.
i have been getting so much offline play that i really haven’t been going online at all. i’ll have to jump on here soon
Cleaned out my list and added all the PSN users. Lets do this.
GG’s to CodenameVII
Was nice to play T.Hawk again, though my execution has suffered from playing too much Honda. Missing a lot of SPD/Ultra opportunities.
WTF is he doing moments:
Random Ultra with Ibuki from fullscreen? I couldn’t remember if it was kicks or punches and for some reason just went ahead and tested it right there.
20 Headbutts in a row? I wanted to know what Cody could punish HB with so I was spamming to see what you would counter with.
He started to try and use focus attacks? Yeah I forget they are even there and I had just remembered. I really need to work on using those effectively because as you saw, I suck at them.
He is counter picking Guile with T.Hawk? Guile is one of my personal(and also T.Hawks) worst matchups so I wanted to try and get some more experience against him.
Things I noticed that you could improve on:
Against Honda: You jump a lot (Pot meet kettle ) Sometimes I was able to shut it down and other times it worked so I need to work on my AA’s. Against Honda you should really be a lot more careful jumping in on Honda when he has meter, crossups included. I wasn’t the best at punishing you for it, but better Hondas will eat you alive with EX Headbutt.
Against Hawk: Punish Blocked dives. I believe you can do Cody’s slide kick into Ultra to punish. Also, this info will go against most peoples instincts, but feel free to rush Hawk down after a knockdown. Hawk best options are block and back dash. His reversals are crap except for EX DP, and what makes that good is that as long as it hits (Blocked or not) he can cancel into EX dive and escape. He doesn’t have a “Get off me!” move like Zangiefs lariat to really stop rushdown.
I have a really hard time against Cody for some reason. He is one of my worst personal matchups with Hawk. I think some of our matches would have gone differently if my execution hadn’t been so off, but overall I think you seem to do really well against Hawk. You kept me out well and when I did get in, it rarely was for very long.
One other thing to watch out for against Hawk, I think every time I tried crossup splash on you, it hit ( Then I fucked up the combo:shake:) Learn to block those crossups. Typical Hawk move is crossup splash> cl. Mp > Tomahawk buster (on hit) or 360 tick throw (on block). So be aware of that.
Thats about all I can think of right now. Long post, but hopefully you will get something worthwhile to take away from my ramblings.
Glad I got some wins in here and there. When you picked bumblebee cody and beat me the first 3 matches I was almost mentally defeated right there:lol:
GG Stricnine.
Thanks for the feedback. I know my biggest weakness is blocking crossups. I was throwing out a lot of wheel kicks with abel to see if you would block and punish. Wheel kicks are a big no no against hawk since he can block 360 throw. I believe cody can zonk knuckle honda headbutts, also if cody whiff’s any specials punish. His specials have horrible recovery and if your in range do some damage.
Another issue I have is jumping way to much, or trying to crossup alot. Something i noticed when i was using adon against honda. I noticed you started trying to keep me off the knife in those hawk cody matches. i was trying to see what i can do with it . I havent really used it much. Seems to work pretty well against him.
Do you have a mic?
I noticed that we seem to play on the same level. I noticed i have a tough time adapting when i just get owned, and am still trying to learn things. It was nice playig someone on the same level.
Haha, yeah I’m sure it was pretty obvious that I’ve only played about 3 or 4 abels. Ever. Kept getting hit by the second hit of CoD because I just forgot that it was an overhead. I’ll remember to 360 those wheel kicks from now on… If I can remember to block low. Stupid stuff like that gets me more often than it should!
With cody, I guess I need to figure out what to punish with because most of your specials looked pretty safe. Well as T.Hawk anyway. With Honda I just Jab>Hands>S.RH, which I think is part of the reason I did so much better against you with Honda.I just know how to punish better with him. With Hawk I get fixated on that 360 and I’ll end up letting stuff slide that I should have at least jabbed at. I’ll try and test some stuff out in training mode to see what I can do, because I’m pretty lost with Cody at the moment.
As for the knife, my thought on it was this, T.Hawk doesn’t have the best response to rushdown. His best option is just to block. That option is not nearly as nice when every hit does chip. Now Hawk has a ton of HP, so I wasn’t REALLY worried, but you having extra range on your attacks and doing tons of chip while I helplessly block was something that I was trying to avoid. It might not make much of a difference with other matches, and I could totally be wrong, but I think the knife is probably a good thing against grapplers. Especially Hawk.
I will be trying to get a mic next payday.
Yeah it did seem to go back and forth pretty evenly with us. We’ll for sure get some more games in. Next time we should invite anyone else who comes online as well though. They may be able to give us some different perspectives on things.
Lastly, I hope it’s cool that I’m posting critique in the forum rather than pming it. Would like it if more experienced players can see and correct any bad info that may get passed on here. Plus I would like to see more of this on here. I think it will help people improve.
Yeah no problem posting in the forum. When I make a endless session I have all the slots set for private so I can send an invite to anyone who is online.
For some reason, I missed this in the Idaho thread. I’ll add myself on, yo.
Awesome, I’ll check but I think you might be the only Idaho player on there. Definitely have to get some games in and see how the connection is. I’m pretty horrible though just to warn you in advance:bgrin:
I’m pretty new to the srk forums but none of my friends play SF so I’m in need of local players to play and help me better my game. I listed myself hope to play sometime.
DuckZero, CodeVii. Been working on footsies a lot and trying not to jump as much, need to kick the focusing habit. Friends called and wanted to hang or I woulda played more. Thanks for the games.
Dusty no problem. Your bison is beast and I need to get some more practice with Cody against him. I’ve been trying to work on my ground game, defense and anti airing.
