Northwest Majors: June 28th at UW

cvs2 4 LIFE~ I will probably show if cvs2 is there.

Yup. Come operate Dr. B! We can get smokay.

But for every board we have, we have to spend ~$250 on superguns

Assuming we want at least 5 TVs running, that’s over $1000 :frowning:

Sounds like arcade ST is covered… would transportation down to PDX be a problem?

Yeah, I’m totally gonna push PSU till we can get a definite answer…
Heres some more info :

We should make this big if we’re getting the ballroom. I’m thinking that more than 3 games is a sure-go? If we only have 8 TVs max provided, and my 2, how many others can people supply?

I know we may already be getting ahead of ourselves, but hey, what do you guys think?
I think if we do it later in the year, KoF98 UM will be out, and we’d see a surge of interest in that. I’d like to have GG, but that would require some of those redmond guys to come down…
And SSBB will be out, so pretty much a go for that if we want big #s

Wow Hellsap, those pics are hot. I for one would not mind coming down to PDX for such a nice area.

I can’t bring a TV, sadly, mine weight 900 tons. But I can bring arcade boards of CotA, MSH, and ST. I don’t have a supergun but if someone wants to bring one we can hook those up for either tourney or casuals.

PS: I loved starcon as a kid! I’ll be checking that out.
PPS: The CotA side tournament will draw such a big crowd that it will be at evo next year. Bet on it! Spiral pwns.

Agreed.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Please show up Brandon. This is Mandel. It’d be tight to throwdown in CvS2 with you if this goes down.

Yes, if we have this, it’d be dope if you showed up as well. IIRC were you the A Geese player that was came to a couple Lanwerx tourneys?

We can get that chunky skunky el quapo chron. Or the Pyrolee weed lol.

Also, for clarification, I wouldn’t object to going to Portland for this event if it was gonna be held there.

Just a humble suggestion…if you want to have a Major shouldn’t you set the playing platform to EVO standards?

This makes sense to me and it would seem that this might draw people in the region who want to practice for EVO (since it’s given that EVO is the be-all-end-all American tourney).

But on the whole, I’d support and attend a Major. Not saying I’d place or anything, but it would def serve as inspiration to learn the games.

I’ll go wherever as long as I can get some 3s.

Also, I like the idea of mixed events, because someone can come for marvel and end up picking up st, or whatever. Whereas if we only have one game at one event, people are never going to pick up new shit.

Yeah the Portland venue seems pretty nice. I’d prefer a Seattle venue obviously, but I don’t object to going to Portland in any way. It’s not really all that far.

I think it would be better in Seattle, because it’s inbetween Portland and Vancouver, the two cities we should be trying to get players to come from

but then again, Portland is closer to Cali, but are the Cali players going to want to show up to this?

^If we whoop enough ass then hell yes they are.

yeah, we went to every lanwerx tourney in the summer 3 years ago…lol I still play a-geese sometimes~

If you come up for that bring a CD cause i will buy that shit. Ballin outta control is on that shit! And bring oliverian too cause his beats are serious

I know a lot of people who play Marvel, CvS2, ST and 3S in Puyallup and Tacoma and they’ve all said numerous times that they’d love to play in big scale events to see how good they are.

Off the top of my head I can think of about 7-16 people who’d come to the event.
And probably more if I did some deep recon into the matter.

The idea is sound but it will take A LOT of planning to do. And I mean A LOT.

As for games.
MvC2
3S
CvS2
ST
GGXX:AC (maybe a side tournament?)
And XTG was mentioning an SNK game, I’m pretty partial to MotW. So I would like to see that happen.

There are also many other games worth considering if we had the tools to do so. Like Melty Blood (hate all you want), MvC1, Alpha 2/3, X-Men:CotA, hell, even T5:DR and countless more.

As for the timing we should do it. I myself would LOVE to be apart of this. But, I am not in WA right now but will be by the latest, beginning of next year. Which will probably take that long to plan all this and get all the kinks out if not longer.

There is a lot of other stuff I would like to say but can’t fit it into words really. But I hope this helps.

I am not trying to spark no flames here, but if they were talking about going to some big scale event to see how good they are, why weren’t they going to SC or GT or Lanwerx when those tournaments were going on? I’m going to safely assume that these people you are reffering to are the same cats that i was playing with when i was living in tacoma/puyallup.

No flames taken.

And they didn’t game hard core or know about lanwerx at those times. And neither did I.

And no, these are people I’ve met over the past 1-3 years that really want to learn and get into fighting games more so then they are now. So I’ve had to them to game nights and gone arcade hopping with them among other things. Some of them are pretty skilled, some are lacking. And some just need the exp to be great. Which is why I think this is such a great idea.

And I know Olympia has a big (but someone scattered/scarce) CvS2 scene from what I’ve been told by my friend, Drew so I’m sur ethey’d like to come too. They got fucked hardcore when Tilts randomly closed.

You can’t ignore Tekken.

^ Sadly, I agree.

I hate Tekken but it spreads like wild fire.

I know Washington has a decent smash bro’s scene too.

I know the best mario and luigi players live in Woodinville.
And the best Young Link player too.

Also, the last tourney I went to with a bunch of friends, there was almost 75 people at the tourney. And 80% of them were locals. So I know there would be a huge turn out for smash.

So…it might be something to consider…

Yes we can and will Ignore Tekken!
