$15 a head + $5 entry per game? thats feasible.
I am going to start working on fundraising soon. Like within a week.
I really think that charging more to get in than usual will discourage a lot of people to come and participate.
Here’s an idea, why not do a raffle for a prize (game, shirt, movie tickets, gift cards, etc…) $1 per raffle ticket…Might make some money this way…Just throwing out some suggestions…
That is a good idea, and I will keep looking into it, but if we do one it would be best to do it off campus and at some other event. The campus has strict rules governing raffles because it is technically gambling, so there is a lot of red tape to go through when setting one up. I will talk to the RSO office and find out if it will be worth the effort.
So I ran this idea by Brent and he said he liked it and to ask what everyone else thought
pre-registration will be a $10 per game flat fee, through paypal
registration at the door will be $10 per game, plus a $5 “late” fee that you only have to pay once no matter how many tournaments you enter
sound fair?
Can I give someone who has Paypal, I give $ and they sign me up to.
Yeha same here can I just give my money to Axel or Brent?
Yeah. Sounds good.
lol I can paypal for people, but I can’t pay 'til I get paid, which is next friday. just throwing it out there. it’d probably just be easier to give it to one of them I’m sure.
I don’t see a problem with giving us cash in hand to pre-register, we just have to make sure we keep really good track of who’s money is for what
Is this the official club name? Do we have a tournament name decided?
I’ll try my hand at a little logo, but I’m not much of an artist. The typography will be impeccable, tho - I guarantee. Any good source art sitting on peoples’ HD’s? Unless otherwise mentioned, I’ll try to put together something simple that can be done in B&W for flyers.
If anybody else wants to try to make something, though, plz go ahead. Will probably look better than anything I make.
EDIT: Because we don’t want them looking like this:

Lol.
Super work-in-progress. Am working on paths for cable’s HVB now. Also, hate the type, will probably replace. Colors will come later (if ever!), since I figure we want something that can be done in B&W.

Hey, that is pretty awesome.
I like it. Thanks for working on it.
It should actually go in the UW thread since it is for the UW club. The tournament is being done through the club, but it is sort of a seperate thing.
I mean to keep posting in this thread and keep people up to speed on what happening, I have just been busy with finals.
Yeah, me, too. Last one’s tomorrow morning…
Looks saucy, Good shit.
That does look good. I have a question though, I don’t know about you guys but then e-mail I got from the RSO has our official title listed as Fighting Game Community at UW. I still have that e-mail so I can forward it to you guys if you want, but I just wanted to get the word; what’s our official title? The executive vice president is not sure what he is executive vice president of at the moment.
We should use the ST regular tournament money and the Mikado regular tournament money for Preppy this friday, and then afterwards until Pacific Northwest Majors, we should give all the ST money to the regional… we’ll need gwop for it to be awesome.
I was talking to Zach about this event yesterday before everyone showed up and the one concern he brought up was advertisement. Someone should make a thread about this in the tournament announcement forums to cause awareness. It’d be great to have out of towners at the event. Also, (because I forgot) this is a one day event right? One thing Zach suggested is that there should be something that caters towards the people that travel to this event (like a day of casual play or something).
This is a one day event.
I have been waiting for the go ahead from Axel on the website before we started advertisement, just because I wanted to be able to link directly to all the information in the first post. The website is up and so is the paypal registration. Axel made the page and it is run through SuperTurbo.net (Thanks Axel ) and he wanted to get a few more things done before he gave the go ahead to link to it. Tommorow will be exactly two months before the event, so I will call him and see whats up. I wanted to have 2 1/2 months to advertise, but 2 should be enough (I hope). I am going to make up a flyer within the next two days and start advertising.
That is a great idea about the day of casual play.
I was thinking that since so many people will be donating stuff for the day of the tournament that we may be collecting beforehand, we could encourage others to organize a pre-tournament game night in there areas. That way people could practice even though their stuff may be already handed in. A casual game night would make it a lot more worthwhile to people who travel far.
