Anyone have any opinions on the schedule? Feedback lets me know its going down how you guys would like it. Changes? Suggestions?
9:00-10:00- Day of Registration and Free Play
10:00-1:00- First 2 Tournaments
1:00-1:30- Break- Tournament Switch
1:30-4:30- Second 2 Tournaments
4:30-5:00- Break- Tournaments Switch
5:00-8:00- Last 2 Tournaments
8:00-9:00- Special Event

Super Smash Bros Melee
Guilty Gear: Accent Core
Potential Scheduling could be-
10:00-1:00- STHDR, Melee 1:30-4:30- Third Stike, Guilty Gear: ACP 5:00-8:00- Street Fighter 4, Marvel Vs Capcom 2
8:00-9:00- Special Event- Still Undecided
9:00-11:00- Finals for all 6 games- Possibly top 4, because top 8 would take to long.
Wow a NWM site, that is awesome. Good shit Brent. The only gross part is Melee being in the mix. I will pretend like I never saw that, because it is for the greater good.
It would be SICK if some direct captured top 8 matches could be made, I am sure some DVDs could be produced for a profit evo style.
edit: Kudos on HDR being before SFIV, because a) Old people need to go to bed, and b) I can help run HDR (and probably bomb in the tournament myself) and get that out of the way and focus completely on SFIV.
This schedule can get shifted depending on preregistrations, and inclusion of other games/events, and your input. It is not final. The current schedule is just a skeleton so that we can have something to work with, and figure out where more games would go and were we would have to move things around.
Good to have a time frame that we can work around.
Now come to think of it, we do have quite a few Marvel players in the SFIV tournies at Zach’s… Maybe switch MvC2 and GuiltyGear? I don’t know how popular GuiltyGear is up here so slap me if it is much more popular than I’m assuming.
So I’ve been trying to figure out a way to include 8 games and still have finals. I didn’t think it would really workout time wise, but I think this may work.
Tell me what you guys think.
*Possible Schedule
6-8 ? Arrival and Set-up
8-9 ? Registration and Free Play
9:00 - 11:30 ? First 2 Tournaments (2:30)
11:30 - 12:00 ? 30min Break (0:30)
12:00 - 2:30 ? Second 2 Tournaments (2:30)
2:30 - 4:00 ? First Finals (1:30)
4:00 - 6:30 ? Third 2 Tournaments (2:30)
6:30 - 7:00 ? 30min Break (0:30)
7:00 - 9:30 ? Last 2 Tournaments (2:30)
9:30 - 11:00 ? Second Finals (1:30)
11:00 ? Teardown*
This leaves room for 2 more games (Blazblue and KOFXII) and 2 seperate finals showings (One at 2:30, and one at 9:30) so that people who play early don’t have to wait until the end of the night to finish. It also still leaves 1 hour for teardown/breathing room.
Potential problems could be:
9am start time for tournament games.
Running 2 games at once. People entering both tournaments get stretched.
Very tight Schedule. We would need multiple people dedicated to running tournament throughout the day to make sure we finish on time. People could switch off between games, but we would need about 5-6 people running brackets at all times throughout the day.
Last time, we had 1 person in charge of running each tournament, and they were generally ran on about 2-3 TV’s sort of loosely. To run this kind of tournament, we would need at least 12 set-ups running at all times, with 3 or so people running brackets for each game (6 total). This is assuming we get around 40-50 entrants per game. We likely won’t, but some games could bring in around 30 or more and we could see a huge number for SF4.
For this tournament set-up, we would need-
12 tournament set-ups:
12 TVs
12 Systems
12 Games
6 People Running Brackets (3 for each game)
I think its very possible to run this if people are willing to show early for a 9:00 first tournament. That is the biggest hurdle I see, but I don’t think it is too much to huge to ask. But I would like everyone’s opinion.
Here are some other formats we could try if people think they might work better. I really think the above schedule can work though if people are willing to start at 9:00.-
6 Games
10:00 start time
12 hours of tournament running: 2.5 hrs per Game with 30 min break 2 hours of finals at end
6 Games
10:00 start time
12 hours of tournament running ? 2.75 hrs per Game with 15 min break 2 hours of finals at end
8 Games
10:00 start time
14 hours of tournament running ? 3 hrs per Game with 30 min break No finals showing
8 Games
10:00 Start time
14 hours of tournament running ? 3.25 hrs per Game with 30 min break No finals showing
Brent I’m diggin the idea of two finals during the day. Its like having two events in the same day and I feel that giving people the option of leaving early/showing up late based upon what games they’re going to be playing in is very respectful of a player’s time. This might mean less people at the event at one time, but a better chance for more people overall so I say you should roll with it. I also think you should stick with a 6 game tournament. It seems really easy for any kind of tourny to get out of hand with how long they take to run, though I would love to see Blazblue and KoFXII included on the roster. So I guess i’m somewhat torn. Either way I’d like to say thank you pre-emptively on working so hard for this event, shit is no joke and I know we appeciate you letting us have so much input.
Personally, I had kind of counted Tekken out for this years tournament with the upcoming release of Tekken 6. Do you know of many people who are looking to attend for Tekken, or do you think it could do just as well as a side tournament?
