Basically a twenty dollar reg. fee for the first tourny you want to play, then 10 additional for each tourny after that.
$10 per person+$10 per tourney=$20
$10 per person+$10 per one game+$10 for another game=$30
there is $10 at the door, and $10 for the game[s] you want to compete.
make sense?
cause it did to me.
K, I didn’t need it explained that many times, but thanks.
Was it like that last time? Was I just too stoned to remember paying the extra money…?
Think of it as a discount for all the extra games you’re going to register in.
$20 per game.
BUT WITH A SPECIAL DISCOUNT! $10 OFF EVERY GAME YOU REGISTER FOR PAST THE FIRST!
Act now, operators are standing by.
By the way, I heard that Marvel was going to be run on 360s for the PNW majors - make of that what you will!!!
Also I talked briefly to Jerry & Mike of Penny Arcade today at Baka^H^H^HSakura-Con (I was manning the Japanese consulate’s booth), and mentioned the Majors. They said they’d be happy to hype it a little, said maybe get in touch through Robert (?), who seems to be their resident fite-gamez aficionado.
Grant L busts out the diplomatic style!
I like it.
can the BopNation crew get in this?
whats happenin everyone!
can we get a group of people (i volunteer to take some photos) to take photos and or film the event?
i think it would be pretty awesome.
imo.
Robert is ZigMover. Great guy. Everyone knows him in the Tekken circle.
oh shit niggas, I’m coming to this.
I’ll be playing HDR. What system is it going to be played on?
lol this venue is where we had my senior prom back in 06 xD
Maybe the date should be put in the thread title now that the venue and the schedules have been (for the most part) set.
What?? You’re not gonna play Smash?
did you seriously call me gay?
Hey everyone. Thanks to everyone who?s been posting up ideas and info.
I?ve been thinking for a long time, and I finally decided that I think this year?s Northwest Majors needs to be a one day event. I?ve been planning for a long time and trying to figure out how to make it a two day event without going completely over cost and still having it work solidly with logistics and it just isn?t working out. It could be a 2 day event if we really want it to be, but I?ve been putting a lot of time and energy (and late night thinking/worrying) about how to make it really work well, and it seems like it just isn?t going to work out as well as I would like.
I?ve been putting a lot of planning and other things on hold while I?ve been figuring out how to make it 2 days, and I?m starting to feel like other more important things are falling behind or being neglected. With a little under 4 months left, I think it will be a lot better if it just stays a one day event for this year, and we make as much use of the space and time as we can. I would rather have a great 1 day tournament that incorporates as much of what people want in a solid event, than try to stretch it over 2 days and not have it come off right.
Sorry to the people coming from out of town. I wanted to have a 2 day event not just to make it bigger and better, but to make it more worthwhile for people who were traveling farther. The venue for this year is great, but the location and long distance to the nearest hotel (which is fairly expensive) is going to make it a pretty big hassle for anyone without a car, and a hassle even for people traveling from Seattle. A Seattle based event for next time (possibly winter) will make it a lot better for people to attend and go out and have fun while not at the tournament.
Now that I am not worrying about the cost and funky logistics of having it be 2 days, I think there are a lot of great things we can do in the full twenty-four hours we will have the space, and the 10,000 square feet and stage we will have.
I would really like to hear everyone?s ideas for special events or other games we can include. A lot of people have come up with some great ideas, and suggestions for other games to include, and I think we can definitely do a lot of them with the time and space we have. I?d like have as much of what people want to see at the tournament as possible, and I think we can do a lot to make it happen.
Some info-
I?ve looked into the cost of renting TV?s for Rent-A-Center, and the cost is a lot better than I expected. We can get 16 32? LCD?s for around $250, which could be used as the main tournament set-ups, and would free up all community loaned screens for the massive casuals area.
With 16 high quality dedicated set-ups (mirroring EVO), we can run through tournaments a lot faster than last time, which means we can include more games in the tournament roster, or set some aside for special events for people to participate in while in tournament matches.
A larger casuals area with enough TV?s will also mean much better facilities for side-tournaments for games people want that didn?t get included.
Some Ideas that have been suggested-
- Team Tournaments- What games would people like for these?
- Include KOF XII in the official tournament games
- Include BlazBlue in the official tournamnet games/make it a side tournament
- Combo/Challenge Mode Competition
- All Dan SFIV tourney as a special event - HeavyD
- Have 4-8 stations set up with either pre-nominated games, or random titles. Each Match would be assigned to a new station via say dice roll or something simple
- SFIV Seattle Rookies invitational Tournament
- Iron Chef-esque Challenge
SFIV Seattle Rookies invitational Tournament
That shit sounds like some hot fire if you ask me.
That is a bomb idea.
Edit: I was also thinking it could be cool to do like an iron chef type of thing, were we have 3-4 our the strongest players, and contestants call them out, and play them in a random game. Someone could even dress up with a sword and crazy outfit like the chairman.

the main thing I wanna know is, 360 or PS3?
Whatever is available really. It will likely be 360, but we could have a few PS3 set-ups for people with PS3 sticks or preference.
1 day events is my preference. I’ll surely b at this event
The Tournament Announcement Page is up! Let me know about anything you think should be changed or that would work better.
I’m going to post event announcements on Dustloop, Tekken Zaibatsu, Facebook, Myspace, All is Brawl, All is Fighter, Craigslist, EventHubs, Gamefaqs (maybe, since they don’t stay floated for long) and any others that you guys think would be good. Been working on a flyer, but if anyone would like to take a crack at it, that would be amazing.
Elliott?
Schedule-
I’m working on the schedule and will post up what I’ve got so far. Let me know what you guys think or if another type layout would work.
This schedule can get shifted depending on preregistrations, and inclusion of other games/events, and your input. It is not final.
9:00-10:00- Day of Registration and Free Play
10:00-1:00- First 2 Tournaments
1:00-1:30- Break- Tournament Switch
1:30-4:30- Second 2 Tournaments
4:30-5:00- Break- Tournaments Switch
5:00-8:00- Last 2 Tournaments
8:00-9:00- Special Event
9:00-11:00- Finals for all 6 games- Possibly top 4 because top 8 would take to long.
(Top 8 is 10-11 sets of matches. Top 4 is 4-5, and could probably get done in time. We could just put finals at 8, and hold special events along side tournament games throughout the day.
I was also thinking we could try something different, like maybe having 2 finals in the day, like running 3 games, holding finals for them midday like an event, and then running another 3 and then their finals. Could get sticky with the equipment switchy, but could be fun and not make winners wait around all day for no raisan.
I was wondering if we would be able to squeeze DR into the rotation?
If need be, Im sure people in the soon to be revived tekken scene can bring any extra tv/ setups needed for the tourney
