Northwest Majors '09 - Saturday, August 22nd- Landmark Convention Center, Tacoma, WA

Yeah, we all know what you want.

LOL, Roll: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v135/Incruentum/Majors2roll.gif

But I guess some people like doll joints. :S
Feel free to post about that on the “Get to know” thread.

I have some good pictures of rool, but I just assume you have more pictures of rolo than me.

Whoa, that picture is really creepy. Maybe it’s the lighting that does it. But I’ll wear it. Maybe because this version of Roll has curves, it’s a little unsettling. I prefer my animated/CGed characters to not harbor real life qualities. Big heads, big eyes, giant hands. Stay the fuck away from the uncanny valley.

Somehow, I’d guess that you have more Roll pics than I. Which is why you should send me all of your Roll related images. If you could find vector images from the menus of Mega Man Power Up, that’d be tight.

Rufus av plz!

Blanka and Seth making a baby AV please.

Totally kidding, that doesn’t make you think any less of me, does it? :frowning:

A sfiv bison av please (preferably his vs pic from sfiv), and it needs to be psycho power purple

Needy!

Table Count

We are going to need to rent tables, so I am looking into a rental place. It is $9-10 a table if we rent from somewhere else, which is 8 dollars cheaper than renting from the venue. We only get 4 eight-foot tables free with the room rental.

Tournament Floor- 7-8 Tables

We will have 12 stations running tournament games at all times on the main floor. If each table can hold 2 TV’s, we will need 6 tables for tournament games. 1 table to hold the projector and 1 possibly for other equipment.

Casuals Floor- 6-7 Tables

I would like to have around 6-7 tables set up for casuals on the middle tier of the room. This will change depending on how many TV’s people loan as well as systems. I was thinking 3 tables in the middle, each holding 1 TV for better viewing and bigger matches, and 2-3 on each side, holding 1-2 on each table as equipment allows. This could make for 10 or so dedicated casual set-ups throughout the tournament.

Check In- 1 Table

Will be in the Lobby. Entry Hallway seems obvious, but lobby is better for getting a hold of people and passing info back and forth, and is also better for watching people going in and out.

Tournament Running Table- 1-2 tables

A place where Tournament runners can place things and go to for brackets, clipboards, and other things. This will go wherever we find it fits best. Maybe right in the center of the main floor.

Total Table Count- 15-18 Tables

Minus 4 Free Tables = 11-14 Table Rentals we will need.

About $110-$140 for tables.

Question? This also brings back up the question, what do people think about the possibility of shorter tables? Some of the tables I was thinking of getting are 2 feet tall (instead of usual 3), so people playing on the ground (most everyone) can see easier. It is not much lower for people sitting in chairs, but could be a lot more comfortable for people sitting on the ground.

Opinions?

Say I brought 2 card tables and a 3’ table, would that help?

The card tables have proven to hold up a 25" CRT (About 40-50 lbs) TV so I figured that’d be sturdy enough, right?

YES! Yes yes yes yes yes. My biggest problem with the last event was I can’t really play in a chair without leg rests 'cause it’s too much tension on my bad knee, and sitting on the floor was a really awkward angle. I think that would be amazing. Awesome idea.

@jalapNo I think it’s a great idea also to bring your own tables if you can fit them and they’re sturdy, people may need them for side tourneys/games.

People seem to want avatars. Here is a photoshop template until such time as I or another person can be bothered with specific requests. (Sorry guys, finals coming up)

Brent, have you looked into getting exposure on the official Capcom Blog? Seth says that he will try to put the best ones up, and Northwest Majors is definitely the best!!!

Who can put up info on the website? (Uh, axel, I’m guessing)

Even preliminary information is fine. Stuff like: What times are we allowed to use the theater? Even something like, “2:00 PM - 11:00 PM (tentative)” would probably be useful for those who need to travel.

Event-specific rules can also probably be tentatively written down, since I doubt we’ll have anything crazy and different. What will it take to open up pre-registration?

I know it’s three months away still. But I feel like the sooner things like events and times get set, the more time we’ll have to beat the drums and get people to come out.

I’ve decided to set the schedule as it is for right now. I’m adding in Blazblue and KOF XII, and they will take up the two new spots from 9-11:30. If no one shows up that early for them, then it won’t be a problem adding them anyway, but I think it would be great to have them, and damn it, we have that room for the whole day. We are gonna use it.

Tournament Games-

Street Fighter 4
Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo: HDR
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2
Guilty Gear: Accent Core Plus
Super Smash Bros. Melee
BlazBlue
King Of Fighters XII

Schedule

6-8 ? Arrival and Set-up
8-9 ? Registration and Free Play

9:00 - 11:30 ? BlazBlue, KOF XII (2:30)
11:30 - 12:00 ? 30min Break (0:30)/ Extra Run Time
12:00 - 2:30 ? Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Turbo: HDR (2:30)
2:30 - 4:00 ? First Finals (1:30)

4:00 - 6:30 ? Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike (2:30)
6:30 - 7:00 ? 30min Break (0:30) Extra Run Time
7:00 - 9:30 ? Street Fighter 4, Guilty Gear: Accent Core Plus (2:30)
9:30 - 11:00 ? Second Finals (1:30)

11:00 ? Teardown

Let me know what you guys think, but for now, this is the new schedule and game line-up.

I tried to stagger the games to that run fast and slow, and space them by the amount of cross-over we can expect. Everybody is playing SFIV, so cross over with that can’t be helped.

Yes! Brent Cleary 4 life. You need to run for President someday.

Hey Grant, could you change those AV’s to say Tacoma. I know Seattle is more recognizable, but it’s really where the event is. They look great.

If you could make me a Vega one, that would be tight? Do you know how to make ones that move like Final Round had? I know nothing about moving Gifs except that they really catch my attention.

Can do.

You’re awesome. Now we just need to get the website updated, and everybody may proceed directly to get hype.

Animated gifs should not be too hard, but can somebody track down an example? Or can you just describe, in words, what you have in mind?

Hmm, I search for a final round one. I think they may have dropped them all though.

It is basically an avatar that has the event name, the date and location (city, state) and something flashy. The final round one had characters giving thumbs-ups. It was pretty creative but we probably shouldn’t copy them.

I like the ones you are doing now too. I can send you the logo if you want to try to incorporate it somehow. Let me know.

So, animated. What about something like this?

I know it’s not premium-sized, but uh… Sorry.

By logo, do you mean the thing on top of northwestmajors.com?

I’ve updated the PSD file here: http://matchpile.com/Majors2/Majors2.psd
So if you want to make your own animated gif, it’s as easy as dropping in a new thing with stuff.
More fancy animation would be cool, but I was a little worried about file size. 19k is harsh. Nonetheless, I remain open to suggestions.

Not the SF4 art, because it didn’t fit in the frame well. If your heart is set on the SF4 versus art, though, let me know.

Also, get at me (PM?) with art for BlazBlue and stuff if you guys want. Because I’m not really up with the new games, yet, and my stash of art doesn’t extend to anything newer than the Dreamcast.

I like the cross-slash animation, and that Vega pic is great. If you can PM me your email, I can send you the new logo. It’s not the current one on top of the website. It will be shortly.

I get off work at 2 and can get it to you then.
