Brent for sound system stuff, my boss has a gig on the 22nd, so like speakers and stuff are a no go. He might be able to let us get some mics, but I honestly think it’s a no go from him.
I can help run SFIV as well too…Just remember I’ll be in and out due to my reunion. But I’ll be there from 7- after teardown. To commentate SFIV and MvC2…Iono about 3s cause I don’t really know the game like that but I can give it a shot.
I can help run SF4, Blazblue, KOF12, or 3s if you want Brent, since I will most likely be staying put the whole day.
EDIT: I can actually help out in all those games at once if you really need help since I am pretty good at multi tasking when it comes to things like that and I can actually read brackets right lol.
Hey there, none of you know me, but I have been browsing these forums for a while looking for a chance to break into the scene. I finally got SF4 for PC and this seems like the perfect opportunity. Anyway, me and a couple of friends are pretty hype for this and will probably pre-reg in the next week or so.
I did need a bit of info though. My friend is a Brawl players and he needed a little clarification on how the SSB action is going to be ran. I was also wondering if there were going to be any PS3 setups, as I only have a PS3 stick.
Also, if anyone needed a ride in Portland, I have to drive through there and I may have a couple of seats available.
interesting. one of my friends who i know casually plays SF4 mentioned it on facebook, and I mentioned the tournament to him in a comment, and some other random guy my age who I’m pretty sure isn’t involved with the scene here mentioned that he was about to also tell him about NWM. I think that means this is going to be kinda big, bigger than i originally thought at least heh
anyway, when is commentating matches happening and is that something that will be planned or kinda just on-the-fly (like it seemed they were doing at EVO)? I don’t want to necessarily ask and steal away anyone’s opportunities or anything but commentating was something I always wanted to do and felt that I’d be good at so if there’s any chance I’d like to be able to. I know for sure I can commentate 3s since I still actively play it and know enough about the game and it seems that’s become kinda uncommon among us now…I also might know enough about BlazBlue and GGAC if no one who plays it is available since I’ll know those games a bit.
as for tables, i have no preference but what you said about it helping out floor-sitters without affecting chair-sitters sounds pretty convincing to me.
also brent my parents are cool for doing lots of photos for you (free) as long as they can get around to good angles on the stage and whatever easily if that’s cool.
not gonna lie, the fact that NWM is my last day living in the NW makes me so much more hype for it, haha
Do we have a Facebook “event” announcement for this? Somebody should put that up.
3s, Blazblue, GGAC are all yours because my knowledge of those games well…I know a little 3s, but I wouldn’t feel confident in commentating if the top 8 had like Oro, or Necro in it, and BB and GGAC just don’t float my boat lol. I know I will be commentating SFIV, after my “audition” @ the Gameworks Fight Club tournament. I’d like to do Marvel as well because…well I played the game for a long ass time so I should know the ends and outs of it by now.
I don’t know if Brent was going to have someone else commentate with me, I do know that (and this is probably a shocker to ppl that know me), but my commentary is very professional, no swearing and I try to be as informative as I can while matches are going on. So if someone was going to roll with me, sorry but these are the guidelines that I’m going to follow (really looking to see if I can like use this as a stepping stone for something else).
I think Brent has a facebook event up already, I’ll double check in a minute.
I can vouch. Your’s and Mickey’s commentary on the Gameclucks tourny stream was good. I was watching from home cause I couldn’t make it that time, and I was surprised. Soundin so pro.
I wanna hear:
LOOK AT DA DAMAGE LOOK AT DA DAMAGE
it goes like this:
LOOK AT DA DAMAGE LOOK AT DA DAMAGE!! …look at da damage…
also, when he says oh my GAWHD. are you SERIOUS?! he gawks like a valley girl, lol
next session i want to hear your commentating
YESSSSS! That’s THROUGH that! LOOK AT DA DAMAGE!
As long as you are confident running a bracket, the job is yours. We will probably need about 4 people running seperate brackets, but that is just an estimation.
Bummer on the sound,, but it would be great if you can commentate. Since you are commentating and coming in possibly late, it is probably better if you don’t run a bracket. It would be great if you could go over good commentary with anyone else who is planning on doing it. Even if they have done it before, I would like all commentators to meet up, discuss points to focus on, and go over the basics and general rules (like the ones you posted.)
It would be great if you could help run a few of those tournaments, but only one at a time. Be sure not to burn yourself out.
I think I we should probably go with mostly 8’ tables the more I think about it. The shorter ones are nice, but they are only 6’, and for .50 cents more a table, that extra 2 feet could really come in handy.
Could I see some of your parents photo work? As long as they know not to shoot flashes right in peoples faces when they are playing, then that should be great. Tau usually takes a lot of pictures as well, and I am going to see if Cloudkap (is that guy still around?) is interested in shooting a video of the whole event like he mentioned before.
Chris posted most of the info on this site. Some things are still to be decided, but he is running it in its own area, so he is definitely the man to talk to. Check here to find out.
GameClucks Smash Announcement on AllIsBrawl
We will only have 360 setups for the tournament matches, but there should be some PS3 setups in casuals. A lot of people have been asking about PS3 vs 360, so I am really hoping some PS3 people bring their system for casuals. It would be a huge shame if they didn’t.
Yeah, let’s try to not get a repeat of those awful evo commentators.
Why you lookin so salty, dog?
Guess who got the day after NWM off? That’s right!
So what’s up with a live stream? And we have a projector? It would be tight to like move matches to a “Big Screen” where ppl can commentate on them.
Honestly I’d like to have Mandel or Mickey commentate with me, just cause the chemistry is already there.
Jeff if you want to hear my and Mickey’s commentary go here:

Mickey’s starts @ around 50:00
I’m willing to run BlazBlue at the tournament, since I probably won’t be entering many tournaments (if I enter at all, since I haven’t had the time/money lately to be very involved). That said, I’ll be there early since I’m coming in the night before and bringing my laptop with tournament software and my camcorder for matches.
Here is the general floor plan. The area is divided up by space, circuit locations, and play areas. Tables are the grey rectangles. The different shades of grey don’t mean anything. It is a rough plan, and all of the tables shown are 8’ even though about 1/3rd will be 6 foot, but it will probably look something like that.

The small "X"s on the map are power outlets and there are 13 ciruits throughout the main room. There are more, but they aren’t well positioned.
The main tournament floor has 6 circuits, Smash has 4, and casuals has 3. Each circuit can run around 3-4 TVs and setups.
Not sure what to do about the stage yet. If we have people play on it for finals, it will need its own setup with sounds and projection, and we need to figure out how to get a sound system and projector first. It could work better to just have 2 big screens sit up on it and project onto them since they will be elevated.
Trying to figure out what to do about a projector. Need to figure out sound too.
I am not worrying about live stream. It would be awesome if someone else can figure it out and we can make it work, but it is not on my important to do list.
