Sup, i’ll try to best to go in this event to make my revenge vs you.

The only issue I can see with the cab is that the bat top will be awkward for many players. I have 2 of the DB15-to-PS converters right now but you’d have to get info from Ghaleon on the details of setting them up if it’s not clear to you:

PSX to JAMMA converter

Is this something that you’d feel comfortable connecting? I believe it’s just a matter of soldering wires from your switches (stick & buttons) on both sides of the panel to 2 DB15 connectors with the pinout listed in the link. That way, you can plug those laugh converters right in. And players’ sticks will plug into the PS side of those converters.

Since NEC is a month away, it’s a good idea to get all ST details resolved as soon as we can. How many setups are available? I understand there’s a cab from Sorwah so far. Anyway, I do have a supergun that accepts PS1/2 controllers and can bring it as long as folks keep an eye on it. Some folks know I’m part-OCD so if anything goes awry, that will be the last time I bring anything.

I’m greatful that we have people like you to help the arcade scene, but what’s with the frankenstein setup? Square gate, american style grip, and happ buttons, (or seimetsu in what I assume will be american layout)? Hoping to please everyone by mashing them all together will please no one. If we want this to work, we need to unify on an already existing standard which is sanwa or seimetsu stick with ball top, and sanwa buttons in curved layout. Simply having a cab is not enough. If it’s not great, it’s not worth it. If there’s anything you need that you currently don’t have, please say so here so that we can help out. But if this cab remains the way it is with no converters, the tournament will not work. If the cab has converters, I doubt anyone will opt for the built in controls, which defeats the purpose of bringing a cab.

Will i hope everyone will get together and make this happen, if im needed please hit me up.

Also does anyone have a Xmen vs Street fighter setup.

i dont have a super gun sadly i was hoping to see some of the maryland heads i.e krost help out lol

I asked earlier in the thread a few months ago what everyone would have wanted but no one replied to me. I personally prefer the JLWs as I’ve never been a fan of the Happ joystick. I’m not against ordering two happ joysticks or 12 buttons to please those who will play at the tourney. I don’t have access to a metal worker to redo the metal paneling to make it japanese style arcade layouts. As for the “square gate” part, I’m unsure what the current sticks are in reference to square gate or circular, as I’m still not 100% on how to tell the difference (I’m new to the arcade scene and it’s terminology).

Even with that out of the way, all I need to know is what arcade joysticks/buttons most of the competitors would be fine with, but time is running out as I would need the time for shipping. I can’t fit Sanwa or Seimitsu arcade joysticks in as the paneling is set up for a square base for the stick (hence why I wouldn’t be able to put the JLFs in, it’s basically Happ or JLWs).

Again, I’m open to changing my setup for the tournament provided that I receive proper information on what type of setup the community wants. If they would rather me just bring my CPS2 game board up to use someone’s Supergun, that’s an option we can look into as well. It would save me a lot of time and money if it gets ironed out asap.

Sorwah - Can you please provide some pictures of your control layout? Include the underside of it as well please. Hopefully a few of us can discuss (in a prompt fashion) how to resolve the situation. I want to play on cabinet. Not a supergun. Even though a SuperGun is still the ARCADE version, the game was meant to be played and is best suited for a cabinet.

Can you also provide the details of your part(s)? What type of stick(s) can be mounted on the panel and the button model(s) please? Thanks again.

Frank

Sure, when I get home I’ll take some pics.

Currently the two sticks are Sanwa JLW-TM-8. You’ll see in the link that they are a square base, this is required as the metal paneling for the Capcom Big Blue cabinet I own was designed for American Happ joysticks. As far as I’ve been told, the Sanwa JLW is the only japanese stick that fits in the metal prongs.

The buttons are just default happ buttons. They came with the cabinets when I aqcuired them, I haven’t gone to order any replacements yet.

thanks

Sorwah - Oh so it’s a Big Blue cabinet? Nice. Ok, this is easy. Just get some IL Competition sticks from LizardLick and mount those at a med-low height. Problem Solved.

Ganelon - Please have someone solder those converter(s) and I will also ask Ghaleon if I can borrow his set for the weekend (not sure if he is going or not).

Issue resolved. K thanks bye.
