We could reach out to them and see if they’d be willing to at least point us in the right direction. I feel they would have to benefit just a twinge to even consider helping us farther than directing. Unless they’re nice and want to see more fight scenes close to them
Hopefully lol. The fgc all around here is very nice from what I’ve seen. They help pretty much anybody learn and whatnot so I see no reason why they wouldn’t help out.
Lol that’s great to hear! I only know a handful of folks and they’re all from GSP’S Friday night KI. Well let’s also reach out to them and see if we can maybe have a double state torunament night or something. That’d be awesome to see!
Yeah! That reminds me so much of the Street Fighter and Marvel “Salty Battles” at local battles when they were big on fighting games. A lot of top tier players from NYC came down like ChrisG and Sabin. Hopefully that can start up again and be more prominent around here.
We could try contacting them and see if they’d be down for it. We can even talk to the owner of Local Battles to see if we can have a night dedicated to fighting games.

I guess we would have to do a headcount at one of our first meet ups then. What should we do first? Petition for Friday Night KI at GSP, contact people in nyc/big named gamers, or get a legit head count?
We could probably get a facebook group going as a headcount & at the first meet up or whatever we could all sign the petition.

I just got a call from Microsoft Store and they said their head of customer affairs will be in touch with me to see what we can do to restart FNKI. Worse comes to worse we just attack one of the tvs and play.
Also what game do you think is easiest to grow the scene with? Since KI is xbox one exclusive i don’t know how easy it will be to get people for it.

Right! Basically it was a sponsored event by Microsoft itself. It was to promote both the Xbone and Killer Instinct plus generate more foot traffic to the kiosk and store. Though, now they’re focusing on promoting the office suite and surface so they swapped the two events out with each other.
So now what may happen is that we’re going to get a permit that’s going to allow us to have the event again. Hopefully it won’t cost us any money to do it as it’ll be literally the same thing as their event, but ran and organized by us.
The rep that called me was very nice and seemed genuine with doing the event with us. She won’t be our personal rep for it, but she did give us her name in case we needed it.
So if it happens they will just let us use their space/setups for free? Also do they also have 360’s there if people want to play ultra/marvel?
They have xbones, I have to double check on the 360. So the woman that I spoke to also headed the KI torunament and is very excited to hear we’re eager to have it back. She said she had to talk to her manager to define it Ely give the okay. She’s aiming for the third friday in August for the torunament.
She needs a definite head count. I gave her 10 just to give us some wiggle room, but we definitely need a head count asap. We can also submit the petition to her manager to speed up the process.
When she contacts me back, I’ll inquire about the 360s for UMVC3.

My vote is for either Ultra or Marvel. Either of them would probably get a decent turnout, and I could use some live competition on both. My friends and I are also big into MK9 and Injustice, but I’m not sure how much reach that would have. If I can rally my people for a little something at Local Battles, then count us in there. I’ll pretty much be up to play anything.
