rugi/chillin - Very proud of the way you guys played in teams. Those losses were all my fault, both by pixels and one by a dumb decision to jump into 60% death lol. The other one I blocked the rog overhead, but I think it jumped back and I got hit (hence the standing animation), very sorry about that one as well. It’s nothing food/removed cast can’t handle, respectively. I will work my magic next time, we’ll be back for sure. We did ok, but the goal was definitely set higher. Good job on your part again, guys.
NY crew : In general good seeing all of you, as always. I like to talk shit and get hype, it doesn’t happen often in my area. I feel like at home when the hype is present, thanks for coming to NEC all.
Chris Hu : You been studying too much Daigo shit, I can tell. You’re learning it well…I’m having too much trouble :(. Good shit in casuals, it was good to play a solid Ryu for once and for hours.
Rico : Definitely impressed by your Abel. I think yours is the best in the country. Your way of punishing my back dash was smart; rolling behind it and command throw. It’s creative and something I’ve never seen before, mad respect for doing so good in a bad match up.
Aqua : Good shit taking my money, but I am hungry for that run back. I wanted to back dash more of those 360’s, but I couldn’t mash it out in this current state. You played very good though, you won and it was solid, so good shit.
MD/VA : Plain and simple, we never play and it’s starting to show. I think having this off-weekend came with a reason, and it’s because there hasn’t been 1 session that every top player was at. Eh, I don’t know if the rest of you are motivated…but I want to rep the area as best as I can. So I’m doing whatever it takes to step it all the way up next time, join me if you want to show what our area has.

But just to respond to this, I think, if anything, SF4 placing pretty much confirms what I’ve been saying, which is that NYC SF4 is overhyped, outside of the very top.
TOP NYC is better than everyone right now. They are very talented players, and they play more. Justin, Sanford, Joe, Art, marn (if you wanna still count him as NY)… sure. Gotta give them credit all day.
I don’t count Flash as NYC. He’s just a traveling man. If NY can claim him, so can FL, Japan, VA, US Airways, etc.
The second tier of players (read: the guys that talk the most) are still just as likely to lose to Philly, New England, New Jersey or MD/VA, even though those areas clearly aren’t playing SF as hard as they’ve played other games in the past, or in MD/VA’s case, at all.
I mean… the results speak for themselves really.
We don’t care, man. You know that. I don’t see it getting any better for you, with that dude that apparently has cabs for all the old games just chilling in NoVA. Nobody’s playing SF4. When the guy that plays SF4 the least in the area places the highest, that says all that needs to be said for our dedication to SF4, and SF4 as a game, itself.

BIG HUGE THANKS TO BIG E for running possibly one of the best majors ever… not only did the major games like SF4 and Tekken got huge turnouts… other games that normally don’t have the greatest turnouts had huge ones (for example MB) so much props to Big E for looking out for not only the huge tourney ones… but showing with the right hype… any game can be a success at NEC!!!

Props to Jug and Gouken for making top 16, if anyone knows where I can watch the matches from the stream after the fact I’d appreciate it. Was stuck at work and couldn’t watch, I heard about that Sagat match, Jug will learn from it we can be sure of that. What I’m hoping is that the rest of Buffalo learns from it too.
About the whole theft thing, we should be hoping that it IS someone within the “community” if you want to call it that at this point. Reason being it’ll be much easier to find mans once we get an ID on the camera. PLUS that person can be (and had god damn better be) banned from all events PERMANENTLY. I wasn’t there, but I’ve been to NEC before, if you tell me down the road when this case is closed that the perp came in on that $20 Chinatown bus, I wouldn’t be shocked in the least. Always a ton of no business hoodrats that can’t afford to travel to anything BUT NEC at this thing because of that bus and come in causing problems. One tried to fight a friend of mine after losing a sidebet during teams, this shit has no place at these majors.
You guys should pay more attention to 09’ers and their views on these events. Stuff like people STILL coming to majors smelling like rotten ass, and coming in actin a fool and picking fights, this is stuff that comes from the same few people usually. And those people are generally allowed to stick around because they play the same good at you, moreso if they’re actually talented, they can get away with bad behavior. Take a long hard look at this, and decide whether or not being good at a videogame is an excuse to act like that.
At the very least, make sure when you find out who it is that stole all that shit, they STAY gone.

next time PLEASE TAKE THE PLAYER NAMES WITH THE TEAMS. jibbo AND my team (ski/ds) got disqualed even though we were RIGHT FUCKING THERE. no one could hear past that massive crowd and a bunch of those dudes were in other tournies or busy doing something productive like commentary. i know it is our business to be right there but those were two of the better teams in the tourney and they just got cut. shit happens and all that, but can we not have that specific mistake in the future?
it was all good times, i had so much fun which is what NEC is about. commentary was hella fun too.

i didn’t really go out and meet SRKers at the tournament because i’m kinda shy / quiet. if you saw a short asian kid holding or using this stick, that was me.
i missed my first match in A2 (my friends got caught up in something, and we couldn’t make it back to the hotel in time). i won my loser’s bracket match, but then i lost to D’Nyc3.
i’m sorry i couldn’t take guy to the top. i’m such a noob.
