North Carolina Thread LXVI

I know Objection too, last time I saw him was NEC.

All new people look the same.
So do all black people.

How do you not know who we are Shiki? I’m at all the ReSe, all the pour houses and was at the first three ranbats. Well you do complain about everything… I guess I should of saw this coming.

Thanks for having us Arm. I feel like I leveled up a lot playing against you guys and had a blast. Look forward to doing it again sometime!

Looks like the Jury has spoken and you are GUILTY… but this is nothing new I guess you are just being yourself. Hey Shiki next time make sure you have collected all the CORRECT evidence before you get on the witness stand putting in your two cents and trying to call people out

lol the irony

The point system doesn’t really encourage people that don’t show up regularly to suddenly make an appearance, once you’re behind in points the incentive gets less and less to show up. I’ve never really liked point systems myself… I remember the days of spreadsheets and Edmondantes. Especially for people that have to travel to the ranbats and probably won’t be there every single week, I don’t really think it’s a favorable system.

I’d be in support of just a regular ol’ weekly tournament instead of ranbats personally. Competition is good motivation but money on top of competition is even better motivation. It’s just a much more flexible format.

Wow… Anyone playing KOF today? I’m almost willing to learn SFxT today. hit me up.

I wouldn’t mind some KoF later if people wanted to play somewhere. I’m in the lab right now out of boredom. Working on one of my 900 3rd characters that I play.

Been in the lab too with Saiki. This character’s damage is stupid. I managed to pull of 960 for HD + 2.
Saiki has some fucking sick looking combos especially the DBZ style midscreen teleport combos

If people are getting together for kof I would be down too

I have to agree with Jon. Also not a fan of forcing folks to enter everything.

Also, if I was to pick majors I’d attend, Season’s Beating would be 4th on my list- after FR, CEO, and NEC, so the prize isn’t really worth it to me.

If you have any questions on how anything works or need suggestions on stuff to do I can help you out next time. I played Saki extensively before dropping him for Ash since he can’t zone as good on point compared to him and yea his HD combos are easy as hell and so damaging.

So then, who’s house we playing at? My place is still a dump and I’m too lazy to clean today so I un-nominate myself.

Also lol at hwa jai being drunk. I didn’t realize his drunk combos built back the meter he uses to get drunk + more, that’s so dumb.

you mean you never noticed that Blake was building meter while doing the stupid combos? thats why the best thing to do is just not jump when hes drunk lol.

im also down to play anytime today if its going down. im not uber religious so easter isnt something i go out of the way to see family for.

also i have a favor to ask to anyone who is in the RDU area. this wednesday i have to go to chapel hill to handle the stupid ticket i got going to the ranbats a few weeks ago. i know that will be in the morning, but i want to also go to WNB. i really dont want to drive all that way, go home, then double back so would anybody be interested in chilling for the afternoon? im really looking at the people that play KoF because that would be the PERFECT chance to get a crack session going before the event that night.

NOTE: i only want stiff competition  lol

Well I guess that pretty much narrows it down to me lol.

I’m down though. I REAAAAAALLY need the practice.

My ears are open and I have other options if this isn’t something that people want I can modify it to another version that I was going to do. I just want all of us to come together and practice and bring more people together in more games. The fact that people play everything brings more interest in other games and others can help teach people how to play. We don’t have to keep that format at all. I just thought it was a good idea. It all comes down to what players want to do. With out you guys nothing works so I will go with plan B.

As for the cash payout and prize part I was going to announce something at our first gathering after I seen how many people we had consistently. If we had at least 10 people at each RanBat then I was going to do a $1000 payout for Final Round. $500 for 1st and the other $500 would be split $100 each for 2nd - 6th. For Evo I was going to do $2000. That was going to be split 1st place with $1000 and the other $1000 split between 2nd - 6th. However I won’t worry about that now since no one wants to do this.

Also Seasons Beatings was just a tourney to hold us over to FR. We were not competing for it. I was just going to get enough hotel rooms for everyone that wanted to go!!! again it was not a prize just something for us to go to till FR came around. FR, EVO, and the cash was the prize. I was also going to take the money left over and put it towards season 3. That “was” going to be for Japan.

I will present my other option for the RanBats and you guys can tell me what you think about it. We need something that will gather us together competitively and get away from this independent club/cliq mentality.

This is what I was thinking about doing for the other option. Let me know what you think…

RanBats Format B:

$10 entrance for each game played. Players do not have to enter everything.

50% of the money for each pot will be split 80/20 for 1st and 2nd place. The other 50% will be used for EVO 2013. There will be no FR prize only an EVO trip.

Same point system will be in place for the EVO trip. Every 4-6 weeks we will meet at one location, that cycles, to play everyone from different locations for the top points.

There will be NO bonus points like there were in Charlotte. (I only did that cause the Greensboro guys stopped coming out the last month so I did it so they could catch up in points. Apparently it back fired cause they didn’t know it was for them and they didn’t like that it happened)

That was the other option that I was going to do but chose the format I did cause it was successful in Charlotte and figured everyone liked it. I will think about another format tonight and see what you guys think about it. I would like it to be something that we work towards, a goal for all of us to try and accomplish.

If it’s a cash payout that people are wanting then I can make that work too. I just figured people would like some kind of payback for all the money they spent putting into other people’s pockets. After all I don’t think that the guys always winning over and over would would be wanting to take any of you anywhere much less give any of it back to you

Let me know what you think about that format. If you have any ideas post them up. I will also have a poll going on Facebook.

As you all know there are the FRanBats going on now. It’s for a trip to Japan for the first place winners of each game. The only problem I see with that is that there is not going to be a big enough of a showing after a couple months cause people will drop once they know they won’t be going. That is why I never made my format for only a couple of winners. It dilutes the pot that we have to work with and stops people from coming out cause they are basically wasting their money/ paying for someone else to go to Japan. Instead the top players get some really good bonuses, these 2 seasons was cash and all comps, and everyone else basically had the hotel room paid for and other little things like gas money and food when traveling.

Just a thought and a look as to why I chose the format I did.

More like “don’t do anything that I can potentially blow through with D Dragon Kick”, lol. Jumping is actually harder for me to punish because you have to be a certain height for the combos to work properly, though it’s really good against hops.

And yeah, thumbs up to Jon for basically ignoring everything I’ve been doing with Hwa for the past month or two. Because every time I yelled “DRINK!” at him when he was playing Hwa, I was just doing it because Hwa looks cooler in purple.

I’m going to be really spotty on stuff this week because I basically took the week off for the Holy Pascha leading up to my church’s Easter on next Sunday. I MIGHT show up for WNB, big question mark on that. I also still have classes this week.

Seriously man, I think you’ve got some sort of obsession with this guy. I mean, what in the world is it about Jon that causes you to constantly comment on everything he does ever? Who gives a shit if he ignored your Hwa? He wasn’t trying to play Hwa until recently, so why the hell would he be trying to learn your shit?

It’s obvious

Jon is Dante.

Everyone loves Jon. In a man-on-man action kind of way.
