North Carolina Thread LXV "Farewell NC"

Now that GG is coming back I might as well get out of super lurk mode and post. I’m super hyped since GG is the only game I really care about. Even if the netcode ends up being bad, it’ll at least be on a current console. There won’t be anymore excuses about not having ps2 sticks or anything like that.

which coincidentally…was my excuse

Your knowledge of GG is definitely impressive, if they make a new one and it isn’t just a bastard version of the previous games do you think you’d get into it?

Also, as far as the rebalance stuff goes I was never heavy into Accent Core since I only kept up with GGX/#Reload but from what people said low tier characters were perfectly viable in AC when discussing the finals of the last AC tournament with MTP vs Zoogstein someone had noted Chipp was actually far from high tier yet MTP did really well with him against Zoog.

AC is the most balanced game I’ve ever seen at high levels of play. That said, Bridget and Johnny require a shitload more work than the rest of the cast, but they have their own bullshit;

So I’m assuming everyone is gonna talk about playing GG and a month later everyone is gonna drop it. sigh

Kinda excited but I already have every version of GG for PS2, a game which I’m sure I’m the only one in this state will play. Either that or Alpha. Maybe if the game lasts longer and people actually stick with it I’ll get hype too, but for now there’s KOF XIII, Tekken, and the upcoming VF5, which I’m sure will have more players than GG. :frowning:

As usual sofa you are completely wrong and honestly confusing. Congrats!

Completely wrong.

Prove me wrong then. Only two people in this state play 3S and no one plays GG (Austin left remember). Call it salty or whatever but NOBODY plays GG in this state besides me. Just like with 3S you’ll see it at a couple of local tournies then poof, gone. Except ReSe at least still runs 3S.

So after GG hits XBL/PSN lets just see how long the “hype” lasts and how many people are actually left playing it.

EDIT: Why are the same people who were hyped about 3S now hyped about GG, but none of them are playing 3S now? What a coincidence, huh?

Because the promised perfect arcade port for 3S wasn’t really perfect. Online is also kinda meh despite it being GGPO. BlazBlue has the best netcode, so you can bet that GG will be great online. As for NC’s history in GG, you can do a little digging in the SRK archives, youtube, or wait til Matt Frank posts.

Like I said, lets see just how long the “hype” lasts.

And I’m pretty sure long ago NC played GG, but they also played 3S. Yeah, the game that is available for XBL/PSN and has only two dedicated players in the state left playing it.

With these old games, the nostalgia factor is more important then improving the game.

GG will be a nostalgia rush, but my guess is it will be the same folks playing who already are after a couple weeks. I know I won’t like this game one bit, so I’m passing- it’s not like I’m hard up for good fighters these days anyways.

Oh, GG was very much played here, and was as popular as 3S.

My motivation is pretty much 0 now for some reason for fighting games. Think I’ma sit brawl at the beach out tomorrow. Good luck if anyone is still going.

Don’t expect GG’s netcode to be the best thing ever. Remember, BB’s 5 frame buffer window for inputs helps hide lag really well. That was how the game was designed. Guilty Gear was not designed that way.

That’s honestly what scares me about this port as far as netcode goes…GG wasn’t intended for netplay. So I’m afraid some characters become damn near unplayable just b/c of how tight you have to be with them+online lag.

theres a difference between playing a game and PLAYING a game also. and trust me this state has some GG PLAYERS

Don’t get me wrong, I REALLY enjoy GG. Its just that those actually crazy about GG would have still had their PS2 copy and been on that, which who do you know is? Everyone is asking for them to re-release “X” game to XBL/PSN when all they have to do is crack open a PS2 and play it. Its just a waste of “hype” that could be spent on current games. I appreciate that people are “excited” about it coming to XBL/PSN, but lets be honest who’s gonna be playing the game serious for a while? Especially during the same year when there has never been so many fighters released in one year.

I’d rather save my “hype” for Persona when it hits. That I hope hangs around for a while.

Yes. People will expect one thing and get something else, then completely drop it for that or other reasons. Like Azn_Boy said about 3S, people thought “arcade perfect” and then were like “WTF” and the game died…again. I don’t want to see this game get all hyped up just to watch it die again.

I have every single version of GG for PS2, the Korean #R excepted. You like GG, Sofa? Next time there’s a gathering, GG will be played.

I’m too tired right now, but this thread is about to get blown up. Tomorrow.

3rd Strike Online was fine. Actually really fucking fine. People went out of there way to bitch! That shit made me not want to play 3rd Strike anymore. Me!

The arcade perfect port argument is a waste of time. Specially in a day and age when a majority of new players have never played the arcade versions of those games.

I’ll just be glad to have a plethora of game options on one console instead of trying to hunt a <insert older gen console> and copy down.

You could not have less of an idea as to what you’re talking about. That’s just me being nice. However, since you play GG and I don’t, how about a money match the next time I see you? Should be free, seeing as how I don’t play the game, right?
