Well god damn how hard is it to plan a tournament not on the same day as another tournament in the same state?

You actually go to tournaments?

As for patches, I think they’re great. If you can improve a game, do it.

Happy new years people!

I like Clark first for a couple of reasons, but a big consideration is that grabs and command grabs build good meter and they don’t give the opponent much meter (as a matter of fact, normal throws give your opponent zero meter). Shen’s a great anchor, he can decimate someone instantly with HD and bar.

Drive gets refilled faster, but I’m talking more end-of-round scenario, where you need to add on just a little bit of damage. Using 50% Drive there works well, but I like to use a stock instead so I have full HD ready to go at the start of the next round. That way, if I get an early opening, I can potentially end the other guy’s second character, which leaves his anchor against my whole team.

Really, I feel like it doesn’t matter as much as I thought initially. Ideally every character on your team should be able to utilize resources effectively. Team order should deal more with which character needs resources the most. I would say for pure damage output, EX Iori is more reliant on bars than either Clark or Shen, so maybe run Shen/Clark/EX Iori or Clark/Shen/EX Iori. I like the first config a little better, but the second one should work great as well.

Pretty hard considering there is already 3 tournaments going on in the state because even with Lucky’s dying there was EZ, Gamefrog tournaments being around forever (as long as or close to as long as luckys maybe even longer if I remember) and ReSe, the fact that there’s usually only 4 Saturdays in a month meaning that there’s only one Saturday you could host on that isn’t conflicting and that they wanna do tournaments at NC State too meaning that’s 5 tournaments total for months that usually only have 4 Saturdays.

There are some more coming in the RTP too. I was thinking about running a big one myself as well. I think at this point, you might as well do what you want to do and pull in people that are closer to you because not everyone can make it out to the distant locations from their house.

Actually command grabs, super or special, give zero meter to the opponent as well. Clark’s SAB only gives meter if you do the Flashing Elbow follow-up (because it counts as an attack).

Robert’s HCF+K is the only exception to the rule, probably because the move was traditionally a Proximity Unblockable. However, now it has a whiff animation, so it’s like the worst of both worlds…

Is it really that hard? Shouldn’t it just be whichever tournament organizer calls the date first? I mean of course there could be other tournaments on the same date but people will just go to the bigger tournaments over the tournaments nobody has heard of. Cali has a thread specifically for tournament dates so they don’t get in the way of others. I think we should do something like that except we put it on the front page of NC thread instead.

According to his page and mine our prices are the same in both venue and registration fees.

With the venue fees I managed to get it extended, but by only a few days, so I’ll still take them if I can. As of right now I’m unsure of it still happening. I have about fifty people’s contact info, most of them don’t respond to my emails, voice messages, facebook posts, and text, and out of the few who did only one person has made arrangements to pay for the venue fee. I will let you all know for sure if I’m still going to have it.

I appreciate you coming out to the last one. You could still make a payment if you wish and if I can’t have it this month on the 21st it’ll be used for the costs of the next one which I have planned for February 18th.

Edit: I thought SCV wasn’t due until the last weekend of the month.

@Sensei People usually arent going to check their email for stuff like that. I’d say you have a better chance of having a tournament turnout by letting people know on the gaming forums first.

And I’m pretty sure people will have SCV before the end of the month. Actually I know for a fact that there are some people, theres a guy named Demo thats been hooking everyone up for years this year will probably be no different.

I assume that was a joke? I just moved back to my home state a few months ago. I’ve only been to one so far and apparently I should have went to Rese which was going on the same day. When I actually have a Saturday off I’m not trying to decide which tournament to drive to that will have the most people because there are two gatherings going on in a very small state.

A tournament every Saturday isnt really a tournament. I literally mean something that everyone goes too on that weekend, not a usual saturday gathering. The fact that this state apparently has a tournament every saturday is strange, why not just have gatherings every week and then tournaments once a month at the least?

It just sounds like a conflicting of dates, which should be able to be easily solved.

And what is this that I hear about moving the Charlotte gatherings to Greensboro?

move it to rocky mount

Also, Rouzu, you cant really expect people to come to your tournament if people have no idea who you are and the fact that you havent been to other tournaments or gatherings especially ones only 10 minutes away from you doesn’t really help either man. You have to go to a couple tournaments and make a name for yourself and find out how they work before you can start running them. Thats why many people were skeptical about Miguel running Lucky’s. If Miguel hosted it anywhere but Lucky’s sure enough almost nobody outside of greensboro would have gone to the tournament.

I did go to a couple of tournaments. I went to Lucky’s twice and played Tekken 6. I precisely wanted to start my own tournaments because I was tired of not being able to go to tournaments. So instead of sitting here complaining that I can’t go to anything I took the research, time, and initiative to bring it to me.

Yeah, it might help to have a thread, but some people don’t have the luxury to pickt he times all the time. There is also tournaments happening around different games too. It’s hard to pick a date regardless.

I don’t really consider weekend things that happen all the time as tournaments. I like big events with nice prizes myself. We have a lot of casual tournaments in NC; very few big events.

location, location, location

Honestly, HAVING to pay registration fee early for an event no one has ever been to, to a person no one has ever seen, I feel like that’s going to hold the tournament back. I was interested in going to it until I saw that, but then I said fuck it, I’ll just go to gamefrog.

Also I agree with Famine, would be nice if we had some big tournament here eventually. Lucky’s was the closest thing to that, and Brian seems to be working up to it at RESE, but Charlotte is so god damn far for some people, especially with the state so spread out. I feel like if we have a big tournament in NC, it needs to be in Greensboro or Raleigh since those are more the middle ground of NC. If someone from wilmington wanted to go go Charlotte, that’d be like 5 hours for them. Might as well go to another state if you’re gonna have to drive that far.
