MERRY CHRISTMAS! (and keep watching after the credits lol)
*Lt. Mario Megaman and Officer Dante Vergil respond to a Twelve Twenty-Five, disappointing a child on Christmas. * He wanted SSF4AE…but he got…something else! Who is responsible? Justice will be served.
I Think Flame Iori is simply easier to Use then Claw Iori (for Me @ least). Flame has decent Damage on his B&B (Meterless) Combo’s, the Execution on them isn’t particularly high & neither is the Execution on His Kill Combo’s. Both are REALLY good Characters though, to Me Claw is just alittle (keyword: alittle) bit more difficult to be Effective with. Now if You want to find a Busted Character, Look no further then Takuma. smh This Character is a Demon, Spawned STRAIGHT from Hell. LMAO! I think Im Switching My Main Squad to Takuma, K’, Andy. Not really sure yet.
It does and doesn’t. Without getting real technical on you it’s their fiber ring but it still uses the same protocol as DSL to transfer data. The real difference is that if you are not within their required distance then you can’t get it where as DSL can be recycled to go long distances, that’s what makes it so bad. Uverse is fine for games but cable will always be better cause it uses a different protocol.
Also how you have your router setup can make a HUGE difference. 80% of people don’t have their routers configured correctly. If they did we would see a big difference in gaming online.
How do you have your router setup? I can walk you through setting it up if you like.
Sup NC. Long time no post. Where is the scene at for the Raleigh / Apex area?? Are their still gamefrog tourneys in Durham? I’m trying to catch back up and possibly start showing up for events. I’m “sixtymhz” on PSN if anyone wants to add and play Thirdstrike or UMVC3.
Is anyone going to play Soul Calibur 5 next month, granted it doesnt suck?
I wish I had high hopes but theres something wrong with a game that has more information about pre-order DLC bonuses than they have videos of the most recently announced characters. 8 empty slots on the character select still?
Greensboro is have a huge session tonight if anyone is interested. Almost all of the triad players(AUSTIN IS BACK) and a good amount of Charlotte players are coming. Heres the address: 804 S. Chapman St Apt 1d, GSO. Session starts at 8pm.
edit:RDU MAY be coming as well. the games we will mainly be playing are kof,ae2012, and
marvel. also,BRING SETUPS
I could come, if that’s cool? I’ll know for sure if I can make it in about an hour or so… And I think Lucerne said he wants to come too (his internet isn’t hooked up yet)…
Will be nice to get in some more KOF before I leave… Maybe some Arcana if there’s interest…
Also, anyone want to play some Melty (PS2 or the new PC version)?
I mean the demo PC version. Afaik, the full PC version won’t be available until the 31st of this month (unless someone on the internet gets a hold of it early. lol)…
Let’s fire up the Wayback Machine for a minute, since I never got a chance to respond to this.
Having Phoenix as you bad matchup in Vanilla was a pretty big deal. That was pretty much the reason he and Wolverine were dropping in the ranks, because of how prolific Phoenix teams were.
In my experience, the throw protection mucks this theory up. Similar to Guilty Gear, you have to delay tick attempts due to the window after guard stun where the opponent cannot be throw. Because Wesker is so reliant on assists to get in during certain matchups, it screws with his timing to have to wait for the blockstun of the assist to end. It just gives the whole setup away. Someone can just jump away pretty easily.
Can we please not use tournament results for a game that had six months of play to formulate a tier list? Tournaments are good for determining the relative strength of players, not characters.
Okay, a good tier list is based off of actual experience in play, not “hypotheticals”. As far as tournament results, again, let’s not mistake differences in player skill for demonstration of character dominance. With Flocker’s team, Zero is just as important as Phoenix. Yes, the presence of Phoenix is what caused people to try to rush down Flocker and subsequently run into Zero’s sword, but obviously it wouldn’t have been as effective without a character like Zero. This is part of why it was such a smart team, because it demonstrated how Flocker didn’t need to learn all of the technical details of Zero to make him dominant. Marvel is a team game.
All this really says is that Wesker + Strider is easier to use than Zero + Strider. It’s a fairly isolated example.
You know I’ll be playing it. If we play online I’m making my characters all white just to fuck with you.
Basically have my PS3 plugged straight into my router, then, DMZed my PS3 so it gets all the ports forwarded. Just did that 2 weeks ago and it made a huge difference. Is there anything else left to do to improve connection?
Well fuck! I literally just woke up but I woulda liked to have come to this. Heads up sooner next time guys.
Well I was just talking dash up command grab once they’re scared, but i fyou do dash up cr.L and then expect them to up back out of your command grab setup, doing another dashing cr.L will hit them out of their jump startup, which is why that mixup is so effective since I believe cr.L is plus on block. You can also air throw which leads to a combo. If they block the second cr.L they’re just in the same situation again.
Flocker probably could have done that with a lot of other characters as well. Tron and Phoenix basically carried his team, most of his openings were from people throwing themselves into Tron or trying to avoid Tron and getting blasted. With Phoenix and Tron nerfed, my money is on not seeing Flocker in a top 8 again for a long time, if ever.
It was just an example, but basically he just converts to damage easier. Having a consistent state you can put people in regardless of what’s going on makes comboing easier, which is one reason Wolverine combos were so herp derp. Didn’t matter what weird height you hit people at, you could always just drill claw > dive kick and now they were in a ground bounce in a consistent position. With Wesker you can always get a knockdown and then go for a gunshot to get consistent, easy to manage combos. Zero’s stuff is harder to convert because it’s distance / height dependent and doesn’t have an easy go to combo option to get things started. He did before because buster > lightning worked really consistently and didn’t float so high, but now it’s really inconsistent and requires tighter timing, doesn’t really work outside of the corner that well.
There was a study on the front page of SRK. Of the Zero’s that appeared on point in SCR, he only scored 2 kills, vs 10 deaths. And come to think of it, I rarely finish a match with Zero in the winning spot. It’s almost always Dante that mops up everything. More often than not, it seems like Zero on my team gets killed before he can do much in tournament matches. Seems to be the case for a lot of other Zeroes I watch too. Chalk it up to poor health and mobility, it’s like playing anemic zangeif. If I can get him going though, he sometimes mows through whole teams, but that’s hit or miss.
For me at least, “once they’re scared” doesn’t happen. I either get pushed or my grab whiffs. People just don’t sit still long enough in Marvel. And cr.L isn’t that plus, it’s +1 on block. His cr.L is 5 frames, which is awesome, but +1 behind a 5 frame dashing normal really isn’t plus at all.
Flocker probably could have done it with other characters, but honestly, with that particular team, Zero does it best. Dante might be a little better in some situations, but Zero is just the king when it comes to covering a whole bunch of space safely, which just makes that particular pairing great (Tron startup covers Zero, Zero safety covers Tron). I know you’re gonna sit there and keep saying Tron and Phoenix “did all the work”, but then why didn’t anyone else pull off the same thing? Why did Viscant in particular have trouble with that team when he was running Wesker/Haggar/Phoenix, a team running around the same concept?
I understand that Wesker can convert OTGs into damage more easily than Zero. IMO, Zero compensates for the fact that he generally does more damage off of his OTG than Wesker. I understand this aspect makes Wesker “easier” to play, but Zero with the right team has no problem creating the position he wants for a combo.
As far as the SCR study, again, don’t really care about results from a single tournament in a game that hasn’t even been out for a full year AND just got recently updated. Tournament results are balls for deciding character rankings. It takes years for a game to get established enough to where tournament results consistently reflect accurate character rankings. This should be especially true for a game like Marvel.
