Good thing I did bring my green 360 and my copies of AE 2012 and UMVC3…your welcome Fayetteville/Elite Zone!!! Glad I could be a crucial part of the tournament lol. We enjoyed our first trip to EZ. Good stuff! BFP loving to support the community!
I don’t think Kensou is considered all that great either but I might be switching my team up a bit here maybe sorta. Takuma is a dirty asshole though, he can stay.
As far as Wesker / Zero, all shit aside, they’re both really good. Wesker gets openings and he gets in easier than zero, he can create his own mixups better. Zero does more damage and has stronger hitboxes, he probably has a bit more room for flexibility.
I had to switch to my Wesker team to beat the guy in losers finals today, who I foughtt earlier in the tournament too. Zero literally couldn’t beat his team. There are definitely some strengths Wesker has that Zero does not and ease of use is important when it comes to converting hits and consistency. People always say Viper is top tier but you never see her place outside of that one guy, same with Zero most of the time, although Zero is a lot better than Viper. Potential is important too but even then, what wesker does won’t ever be not good and he has a lot of options that Zero doesn’t, and vice versa.
Re: Wesker and mixups, I’ve found that the way Marvel 3 works doesn’t favor the type of mixups Wesker can create on his own. His reset mixups are amazing, but his stand alone mixups using ticks and command grab don’t get him anywhere on someone who just pushblocks. When it comes down to it, the ability to control space in the hectic atmosphere of the game is more important, and Zero is just way better at that. Wesker has to hit you first. Ease of use, again, Zero’s just not that much harder than Wesker. If you were playing Viper, I’d agree. People in tournaments probably just approach Zero wrong. You have to remember that the majority of the player base is not that good, especially when you talk about the newer games.
Like I said, it’s just early game syndrome and people taking the path of least resistance. Wesker dropped below top 5 in Vanilla eventually and he was better in that game. Once people get more comfortable with Ultimate, they’ll start to take advantage of his weaknesses more. Right now though, he’s one of the strongest Vanilla characters who got nerfed the least, so people are gonna ride him until all the new stuff gets figured out.
“All that great for KoF” this should be in parenthesis. Game definitely has some of the better balancing out there due to lack of knee jerk nerf reactions from SNK. I feel everyone is viable in the game clearly but only some people are viable for certain peoples game style. Terry is considered pretty bad but sat down with Ed in casuals yesterday and he showed me quite a few impressive things because atleast in this game a good bit of people have weaknesses in some area but they excel highly in others meaning if you recognize that weakness and get past it with your style of play you’re good to go (as I saw with Terry).
Uh…what?
By the end of the game he basically had the #2 spot on lock, and was winning tournaments all the way up until the end.
If anything he was still getting STRONGER because even the basic-level scrubs who were relying on him for his assist and X-Factor comebacks actually started learning his resets and mix-up bullshit tricks that Viscant pioneered.
KOF 13 console, while it is ‘better balanced’ than most games, is definitely not as balanced as people think it is, but it will take a while for most people to see that as the game develops.
Kensou I suspect will end up , at worst, upper-mid.
Duo Lon is probably kinda lowish, but still competitive.
I don’t think you need to pick 3 top tiers in order to compete, and everyone’s probably at least viable. I got a few complaints on KOF, but the characters/balance isn’t one of them at all.

I’m in a generally bad mood and was going to type a post calling out everyone who was complaining about Wesker and say some really harsh and hurtful things, but then I thought to myself “I just don’t give a fuck” and decided to not post it.

I was also going to respond to this thread I saw in the recently active threads list and say some really harsh and hurtful things, but yet again I thought to myself “I just don’t give a fuck” and decided to not post it.
At first I was gonna say damn son you’re off for a whole month, but then I realized there’s only 2 weeks left in this month and it’s the holidays.
Nice turn out at EZ tourney, I learned a lot about KOF 13, I’m gonna stick with Mai, she was doing her thang!! Could have placed better, Took a week off from practice cz shit got real at the work place. Should be back on my grind here real soon. Really hype matches in all the games.KOF MI2RA is a stoopid crazy ass game. Really fun and just plain silly at times.GGXXAC was also fun. Didn’t get in any MB or BB, that’s too bad. I’ll be back up at EZ on Tuesday to play with NEST Kyo!!! Back to the lab. Holla, Thanks to everybody who came out.
Those stream monsters were funny as hell, “DAMN YOU SUCK!!!” lol
hahahaaha, That shit was crazy!! I’m sure that was just Nathan being a real life troll, about the stream.lol Either way I became instantly salty.lol Thanks for the fun matches. Gotta step up up my game. I wanna use Takuma more. My old team was Yuri Takuma and Ryo, but I really like Mai and Kula now. Since your off work I’ll see you guys up at EZ.
Interesting, since pretty much every tier list I saw for the game before Ultimate came out had both him and Wolverine below the top 4 or 5, with characters like Magneto, Dante, Zero and Phoenix being listed as top.
dat Dudley empty jump Ultra
Yeah, I would definitely stick with Mai if I were You. She was annoying the fuck outta Me Yesterday. lol I think She’s ah really good Character! I gotta hit the Lab with King today, She seems interesting.

If I’m not mistaken (I could be) I think Wesker was starting to suffer the same problem Zangief did in SF4 Vanilla. For a long time he was top tier cause he gave a ton of the cast problems, but towards the end of it the rest of the top tier/near top tier were all bad match-ups or match-ups not in his favor. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Ryu/Sagat/Akuma for Gief. Or something that to that effect. I vaguely remember Viscant also mentioning something about finding more and more difficult match-ups for Wesker from the rest of the top of the cast.
I just don’t see how he could have had bad matchups other than phoenix. Also push block being an issue for him? How do you push block a command grab? If people are sitting there looking for the cr.L, they’ll be sitting on down back more and the command grab is 1 frame so it’s gonna beat whatever they do when you get in close.
I agree with Shiki, it seemed like, if anything, he was only gaining momentum. He won evo and was placing high in tournaments towards the end. The only character that seemed to be doing even better was Phoenix.
Tier lists are ass. They deal too much in hypotheticals and don’t focus on the reality of the game. If Phoenix, Wesker, and Wolverine are winning all the tournaments, then… just maybe they’re the best characters. If only 1 viper player has even placed out of like 100’s of tournaments, she just might not be S tier like people were saying, same with Zero, and Flocker was really carried by Phoenix, which forced people to run into his Zero’s defense in a mad rush to kill phoenix.
Plus, as an example for my ease of use argument before, here’s a really good one. If I use Strider’s assist to stop run away, both Zero and Wesker can OTG to continue the combo for themselves. For Zero, he can’t do this so well outside of the corner, and if he does want to do it mid screen, it takes something like 2 very frame tight links to get it to work, where as with Wesker you just run up and gun shot OTG and combo, so there’s a lot of tangible situations where it’s not just the execution thats making the character more effective, Wesker can combo in some situations there were Zero literally cannot, even though they both have the same option. Just trying to clarify why I see ease of use / consistency as an important factor, not complaining about Wesker.
I’ve been on this for about an hour now. Port looks good. I’m glad the button mapping is similar to AH3/HDR/BB too. Even if you gotta exit the game in order to do control options.
Put it on steam…seriously.
Marvel finals for those of you that missed it yesterday
