JP player Dune posted a tier list/first impression of console XIII characters. Check the front page for the full article. Top tiers in short are:
Kyo (lol Jon), Hwa Jai, Flame Iori
These are the only characters that the dude just straight up said were top tier. Everyone else he was a bit more general. He mentions Shen, Claw Iori, Vice, Chin, Takuma, Yuri, King, and K’ as being strong. Other characters are more middling. He considers Terry the worst in the game right now.
He said King was “EXTREMELY” strong, so yeah King is instant top-tier like I said on Day -3.
Surprised he said the only reason Yuri isn’t top tier is because she doesn’t have good jump-ins. What exactly does he consider air D and her divekick then???
Terry is pretty buns. Absolutely no neutral game and no safe specials = no pressure.
Confirming off of cr. A with his new chain is pretty much the only real buff he got in console, and he wasn’t that good to begin with.
Crack shoot or whatever his kick special is was only -2 at worst in the arcade version. Yuri can be smacked out of her dive kick pretty easily it seems, her air D is alright but it doesn’t have enough range.
King is solid I might drop Athena for King if Athena doesn’t work out.
Hey guys, I’m trying to find some people who might be interested in getting together for some casuals and possibly future events involving the fighting game scene. It would be affiliated with the ECU gaming club (Greenville, NC.) At the moment I’m trying to drum up support and determine if there are enough people out there willing to come and join us. Just thought I’d hit up this thread in case there are any members/lurkers in the area.
It has lots of start-up begging to be stuffed, pretty bad recovery on whiff and an awful hitbox that barely hits crouchers.

I’m having so much Fun with Saiki. He can be so annoying to fight against. lol Just wish He had higher Damage output Mid-Screen.

Wow HNK , I missed the conversation!! Love that game, still have it if anybody wants to play. KOF 13 is still going strong, about to try out AE 2012 , I guess. Csx Looks pretty tight and I’m liking the new changes(Especially Tager HURDUR720NEWCAMBOS). I’m going to import Csx also so we can get some matches in online if you’re game.
I told you guys Kung Lao was top tier. People scoffed. I told people Metaknight was top tier. “that character can’t kill”. I told people Zero was godlike. “that character does no damage”. I TOLD PEOPLE KYO WAS TOP TIER. Spam them double kicks, you tier whores!
Hwa Jai being top tier is strange. I figured he was strong but not like… top tier strong. Maybe being zoned isn’t such a big deal. Also what makes King top tier out of curiosity? Just good pokes / zoning?
