Dune said you have to have skill to play Kyo though, which doesn’t equate to spamming double kicks. He has all the tools, but you have to actually know how to use all of them.

I like how everyone is saying Kensou has bad normals. cr.D and st.D are both great, cr.B is really good for hit confirms. st.b st.c chain being frame advantage is good too. I don’t really trust top player evaluations sometimes. People tend to rate the characters they like higher and the characters they don’t like lower. IE: every tokido tier list “akuma top tier”.

Well he even said he just thought Kensou and Athena didn’t really fit with the flow of the game rather then being bad.
His normals are better then Athena’s.
Some folks rate their chars lower as well.
Also never use double kicks outside of combos on grapplers with instant grabs.
King has really powerful combos, that’s what makes her near-top in my eyes. She has a hard time forcing mistakes if she’s behind though, that’s her only flaw.
BTW US release of BB Extend is $40 on Valentine’s Day.
Every single character in KOF 13 can do “powerful combos”, that’s not what makes a character top tier.
Since every character has a combo that kill someone, it boils down to:
a) how EASY it is to land that combo;
-does the character have to force you into the corner, or can they TOD anywhere?
b) how EASY it is to confirm their damage
-does it have to off a close strong normal that you have like 2 frames to confirm off, or can they do it off a bunch of crouching light kicks that they have forever to confirm
c) how EASY it is to open up a character
-neutral game and mix-up potential (long quick sweeps, hit confirmable lows, HD confirmable overheads, command grabs, specials safe on block)
d) how HARD it is to catch the character
(how much stuff their EX invincible special goes through, anti-air pokes, projectiles)
e) damage-to-meter ratio
King ranks probably in the Top 5 of each of those categories.
Pretty much all she needed to be very good in console was better air normals and a cancelable slide. She got both of those and more. She has great projectiles in a game where projectiles were mostly nerfed, including the only air horizontal projectile, which pretty much owns the grapplers of the game (since they were some of her biggest counters).

Gonna spend some time in AE 2012 with Evil Ryu, the buffs he got are great. Fei Long “nerfs” are like non existant if you know how to hit confirm. GUy and Cody’s “increased walk speed” is barely noticeable if at all. Most of the changes are horribly miniscule.
Also oni can do some crazy shit now… for instance:
Air double jump hit > Raging Demon
High anti air LP SRK > TK Air Raging Demon
Electric fireball in the corner > TK Air Raging Demon
Anti air fw+HK > TK air raging demon.
Air tatsu > TK air raging demon (works mid screen)
Probably some other shit he can do it off of too, shit looks crazy.
After hearing about my boy Terry, everything Dune said just went out the window. Maybe I’m in denial, but I can’t just give up on Bogard like that. Although I was thinking about using Kyo and Flame Iori. Hwa Jai I can accept that he is a beast.

YES! That’s what I would of loved if the movies were like that. Sad that I like the 80s movie better than any of the new ones. Although out of the three the third one was done the best IMO, minus a lot of the unnecessary stuff put in it.

Subject: KOF Storyline > SF Storyline
So I read up on the KOF storyline today. Must say that SNK at least put in some thought when it came to it, even the character personalities. I like some of the characters more now after reading up on them. Thought back to SF and couldn’t come up with what the main storyline about it all is. And team boss coming together only to disband after one tournament. And so many team swapping and retires and comebacks. Now I know why people refer to “teams” now.
But one thing got me thinking. Rugal being thought to be dead and coming back in '95 isn’t really bad. But Iori killed Mature and Vice and their both back in XIII as “spirits” if I’m not mistaken. Considering SNK doesn’t believe much in “If you’re dead you can’t come back,” does this mean perhaps Geese’s return and/or even Rugal?
And Garou seems like the 3rd Strike of SNK, even though I do believe Garou came out before 3rd Strike. I mean in the sense that a lot of characters were replaced by other characters with similar abilities/skills.
EDIT: Poor Team USA only entering into one tournament only to be forgotten.

The reason they threw Vice and Mature back is in because they’re palette swaps, so since they could reuse a lot of animations and modeling for both of them, that saved them a few months of development time.
Rugal doesn’t come back except for Dreammatches. The only playable tournament version of Rugal is in 98(UM) and is probably going to stay that way.Technically Omega Rugal is allowed in Japanese tournaments for KOF95 because that game is so broken that it doesn’t even matter.
Geese is even more rare. They intentionally keep Geese out of KOF to make people appreciate it more when he actually is in.
Garou came out around the same time as 3rd Strike but way after SF3: New Generation, so Garou: MotW definitely was inspired by the SF3 series, in terms of technical gameplay and the idea of a “new generation” of characters replacing old ones:
Kim --> His sons (each one has half his moveset plus a few unique moves)
Geese + Terry --> Rock
Mai + Alfred --> B. Jenet
Raiden --> Tizoc
Xiangfei and Tung --> Gato and Hotaru
Ryo + Takuma --> Butt
