combos named after some of his best kills and one-liners (as in “tell em freddy sent you” “playing with power” “how sweet fresh meat” and of course “kung fu THIS bitch”)
Momoko is one of the worst designs in KOF history. She’s up there with Chang, Choi, and Kula. Argh. I think the top picks over there were Vanessa (lame character) , Mary (solid safe pick) , Yamazaki (good pick), Oswald (great pick), and Rock (overhyped pick but still decent)
Just to clarify. I’m not showing up because I want to lose. I’m competitive as shit. Just not the salty kind (except to online bullshit, which then I throw my arcade stick around). I’m showing up because I dedicate time to it as my hobby, and since I have no other friends that do I have to go looking for some (will you be my friend?).
My main point was even though I’m competitive and learn the game thoroughly, I put a limit on it. I’m not willing to make flash cards for character specific combos, or memorize exactly how to punish every single move etc. But I am willing to put enough time in to practice to where I’m good enough to play the mental game somewhat, learn from my losses and those better than me and enjoy the competition in that feeling of “I out thought you at that one moment, I read you”. What better feeling is there than getting a perfect read and winning a round off of it? That’s what I’m chasing, not tons of tourney wins or going towards a career in it, but just like I play basketball on the weekends and can make shots, I play street fighter and can win some heated matches. And damn it feels good to compete and win!
Yeah man I feel you. That post was towards Sofa King and some of the stuff he had said since he was talking about being competitive before. I can respect that though, not everyone has the time for this shit lol. You’re welcome over at my place today if you want, not sure how many people are coming out but I know of 2 or 3 atleast, and I’m sure more will show up magically.
So there is a storyline behind KOF? Even though I’ve messed with a few of the others, I haven’t given thought that there was ever a storyline until about a week ago. Always thought KOF was like TTT, where storyline doesn’t mean anything considering it was a mixture of characters from different games. Rock not being old enough makes since to me now which explains MOW.
I don’t know how Rugal died since he was fun to play in CvS2 and I’m guessing the guy who fights similar to Rugal in KOF 2000/2001 is his son (can’t remember exactly which one it was). But can’t Geese Howard still be alive? Everybody knows he just hit his head and is still asleep like the sharptooth in “The Land Before Time.”
Cool! Unfortunately I’m still in Denmark. I leave in 7 days though!!! hells to the yeah. I’ll definitely be out in the very near future. Like I said before, my skills are mad rusty because I’ve only been able to play in the training room for the past 3 months because the lag sucks here and there is no local scene. well none that I can figure out.
Hey, is there an event page or something for the Gamefrog tourny Saturday? I’m assuming games will be MvC3, Tekken, and AE, but what about price and KOF since I heard mention of that game as well? Also, is the place inside Northgate like EZ is? I’m completely clueless as to that part of town.
Actually on Rugal… he’s in the background of one of the new stages on KoF 13… I noticed him appearing on one of the screens on the big TV / Piano stage they added. He appears real briefly but he’s definitely there, in KOF sprite form and everything. So maybe he’s not actually dead?
Now you know darn well why people like** Moe**moko. I really don’t have a wish list for KOF XIII because they’ve already added everyone I want (Elisabeth, Shen Woo, Duo Lon, Yuri, Ryo and Kyo)
Speaking of Gamefrog. I’ll be bringing a PS3 for Arcana 3 casuals (and asked Ed if we could run the tournament too). I’ll try to record a lot of matches and make DVD’s from my computer for people if they wanna study matches or whatever.
Also, would anyone be willing to bring a CRT for Arcana 3? If not, I’ll try to bring one, just that I’m already planning to bring a PS3/ Computer/ Recording Equipment/ Stick.
And if people are willing to show up for MK9, I think it should be ran at Gamefrog as well.
Highlights:
AE: singles and 3v3 teams
MvC3: singles and 5v5 teams
MK9: singles and tag teams SF3: singles and 3v3 teams (some old school 3S heads are looking to come out… ramza, exodus, shinshay, &deviljin)
T6: singles
BB: singles
AH3: singles
BYOC area, many more dedicated stations, large hotel venue, 2 setup streaming w/ projector spectating, etc etc.
basically, all the shit we should have done for CW, but didn’t. That’s why it’s the “runbacks”
Also, two of the games will get an “early” start at 11:00am sharp. it’s probably going to be the MK9/BB combination. Stay tuned.
As before, I will gladly provide floor space to anyone who’d rather crash/game the night before.
There is KOF, and then there is Art of Fighting which is an alternate timeline and the prequel to Fatal Fury. The place is on the outside of North Gate, it’s easy to navigate to if you just go in the mall and look at those huge map things.
The problem is that anyone can really be alive or dead… I actually found out there have been times that SNK hasn’t actually known that a specific character was killed off from like previous games or other time lines and I don’t know all sorts of bs basically. Fighting game stories are the biggest lol ever.
Probably more of a popularity thing but might wanna just ask Ed.
I think he’d run if it got numbers. He was going to run Blazblue until he realized there’s only like 4 people that play it, or just some insignificant number.
Oh…for some reason I was under the impression that he was dead after the XI ending and Shen Woo appearing with him absent. But I’m all for him being in the game. He’s easily in my top 3 favorite kof characters. I just didn’t think he was all that popular since they didn’t put him in XIII from the start…
I voted in the ngc thread and did that for the most part. However, when all is said and done, I will probably be the only person on the planet who tried to vote Laurence Blood in.
Yeah, hopefully the turnout is good… Already pm’d Ed about that newcomer thing I mentioned on HomingCancel. So might have a couple people show up for the Arcana tournament since they’d be getting a free entree + a payout (if they place, that is)…
