North Carolina Thread LX

It’s too bad the old and the new can’t converge on something, NC seems really split, in game preferences, and geographically.

Is it bad that I feel I’m leveling up more playing online than offline?

I’m running into alot of good players in Endless, and I’m just watching my replays to see what I need to do for certain characters. Lag is still an issue, but not to the point where you can’t play the matchup.

Not at all man. Lots of good players online, lots of matchups. Viscant has played thousands of MVC3 matches online and that games online is regarded as shit, but obviously it helped him. That’s how I got decent at SF4 when I used to play too so yeah, keep it up. Not like NC has much of a competitive scene these days so you gotta get it where you can.

Obligatory wolfkrone reference

If I do get it set up then you or someone else could supply the set up for that game as I don’t own a copy of that game.

Gamefrog ranbat tomorrow start time 7:00 pm until!

Reg $10 Pizza and drinks on the house.

I MIGHT go to this, I’ll have an answer in a couple hours. Depends on if I can get other friends I want to see go, aka Tom, Raf, etc. Could potentially be a good reason to go to NC and it’s closer than fayetteville for myself and others.

Hey, could you guys help me out? I’ve got a friend right now in Asheville and then he’s going to Waynesville. Are there any arcades located around there that have any fighting games at all?

sucks not having a job/money/living in the middle of nowhere…can’t go to hardly anything.
Anyway…I’ll see if I can make it to the EZ tourney in fayettville. If so, It’ll probably be the same deal as last time where I’ll just help out since I still can’t really practice anything.

I’d absolutely be down for that. I have MK9 with all DLC except Freddy on PS3.

I wasn’t planning on going but if you go I’ll more than likely show up.

3S and Alpha 3 were the first games I really got into. I played A3 with my old best friend in school, but 3S is the first game where I got to play against other people. Also, a little GGAC down the road. I’m glad we’re getting an arcade perfect port, hopefully I’ll have enough new players to play so by the time most of them arstal finish that shit down and quit immediately I can have at least learned some BnBs to play with the OGs.

Luckily though, 3S:OE is a download title so they can’t download a rip of it and actually quit at like day -9 like it was BB:CS or something. Especially after talking hype about it for 6 straight years.

Online is necessary to cover the matchup gaps you have from just playing offline. Unless you live in Japan, you’re not going to have so many players in your area that you see every character played at a high level. It’s also good for those times you want to play but can’t play with someone else, like at 5am, and for games you like which there is no competitive scene locally. Not saying online prepares you 100% for tournies, it doesn’t, but I do think it’s the best insurance against getting gimmicked out.

I’ll play 3s again. I played it on GGPO for a while but I stopped due to there not being that much comp for the game in Raleigh so I just got bored. But now since I’m not that far from Q, Angus, and Roski, there’s really no excuse to not play it again (in fact, that goes for everybody up in wilmington, you’ve got one of the best Makoto players living in your city…take advantage of that fact and learn from him).

For the Gamefrog Tournament…

Ed confirmed with me that the Arcana 3 tournament will be run.
We will also be doing a regular special for every tournament where one newcomer who’s never entered an Arcana 3 tournament gets free entry.
If interested, talk to me at the tournament venue.

There will be 2 free-entry slots at this Gamefrog just cuz it’s the first time we’re doing this kinda thing…

Tryin my best to make arrangements to make this, but not 100% yet :frowning:
I’ll be sure to bring a PS3 + Arcana 3 / Tekken if I can go.

I can provide a PS3 and PS2 system if I can come. Also, if you need anymore help running the tourny, I’ll be able to help out as well.

7 PM? Are we doing casuals beforehand?

Hopefully so… And I was planning on coming like around 2pm. D:

I can provide a ps3 with MK9 (all updates included)
