Zero: i think youve misunderstood me. Tekken isnt Street Fighter where the stage is just a backdrop for the fight so of course the stage ALWAYS matters but youre saying that the loser should be able to pick the stage…which is what I was arguing against. why should the loser be able to pick what stage they want to fight on? when someone loses in Tekken, its hardly ever because of the stage they were on. with proper movement a player should rarely be FORCED into a wall situation unless via juggles.
Dale: ive tried. so hard lol. plus whats so illuminati about EVERY OTHER TUESDAY in raleigh. and the gatherings are annouced days in advance. Ando ALWAYS sends a message a few days out before the RDU sessions. but on the note about the “elitist” players i have to ask
what the hell is everyone looking for? its like oh yeah Ace, Wonder, Bryan, Ando, Rob and DeMo arent good enough. even though we are MORE than consistent locally and have made ripples into waves at majors. its like this whole NC community thinks Tekken doesnt exist unless Daniel, Jeremy, Jon or some Tekken messiah are there or something. and thats PURE BULLSHIT. for everybody that goes on and on and on and on about what people do OUTSIDE of NC being a measure of someones worth, name anything any of them have been to in the last 5 years…go ahead…i will wait.
thats not a knock AGAINST them so much as its a knock in the mentality some people apparently have
so the Lucky’s ORGANIZERS dont respect Tekken, well thats fine (even though I know Lucky himself LOVES the game). thats why it doesnt get played there. stop trying to shoehorn it like the players just dont come out, because some do. At least the same amount for BB and GG come for Tekken. but if the past few tournaments have been any indication they leave because they dont know the game is going to be an official tournament or it takes too long to get things going (this I have PROOF of).
I find it funny how the VERY FIRST EZ tournament had near about 15 entrants for Tekken (same amount as MK if im correct), simply because it got announced as being there. now subtract the 3 fayetteville players and thats still 12 entrants from other parts of NC.
He listed a set of tactics for wall stages, and another for infinite stages. He meant that if you can’t do both, then you’re an auto loss half the time anyways. Alisa has a disgusting wall game, btw.
Dale has it right. This has nothing to do with “respect” for Tekken; tournament organizers show love for the games that have shown them love back. Tekken has yet to do this at Lucky’s on anywhere near a consistent basis. If you can’t fill up a bracket with established Tekken players, then there’s no possible way you can expect new players to want to join in.
Demo, I have no idea about anything goin on “every other Tuesday”. All I see is Erik, Jon, Will having gatherings/tournaments. Why do people keep having gatherings, post about it once, and never come back here again? That shit isn’t how it works. And what about Ando? I haven’t seen the dude in a solid year cuz apparently to get in on tekken gatherings you gotta be on some kind of “high level tekken players” mailing list.
15 is a respectable number, but you can’t guarantee the same # of entrants will be there. No disrespect though man, I know you’re trying to make things happen.
I agree Matt. Well heres the deal. Next Luckys heres who I know we should have
Dominique “AceUnlimited” McCowin (even though its his birthday)
DeMorris “SilentSymphony” Edberson
Jovan “SmallWonder” Martin
right there you have arguably the CURRENT 3 BEST players in the state
Brandon Douglass
Dorand Blackston
James Robeson
those 3 always travel together and have been at the last couple Lucky’s tournaments (and Final Round) but have left because it took too long to get an official word or for things to get started
now im sure with Jovan being there his fellow XS team will be there which is
Mario Smith
Stacey Blake
Bradley Harrison
Ando cant make it because he will be at a wedding. Im not sure about the status of the new RDU players that Alice Chan brought in. But theres more than enough players to make this happen. Im ONE person. Im depending on the rest of these guys to show up now.
EDIT: Dale, im gonna start hitting you up when Ando hits me up. Every other Tuesday at Bryans house. Its usually posted on TZ.Then I have my little gatherings on Wednesdays, but thats not just specifically for Tekken.
Don’t forget how it started off by me talking about it, then mentioning it a day later at EpikNikki’s gathering, then actually making a post about it like a week before the tournament “we will do a tekken side tournament” because that’s what I was told it was going to be a “side” tournament which then turned into something actually happening. I will say I felt pretty terrible trying to teach my friend how to play a game that i’m not even that good at and only know basics and that he wasn’t able to learn how to play any other game but when we had those 7 people at Nikki’s gathering and then such a good turnout off a “maybe” at an elite zone tournament I didn’t feel so bad anymore because I atleast thought we started getting people giving it a chance.
You guys really should see how much work Demo has given/put into the Tekken scene and realize especially with the gatherings that just because he’s in Wilson? (I think), doesn’t mean it’s Illuminati and that he often actually does post times/and that it’s every week.
I don’t know why various people don’t play it but it’s something people should at least throw out support for or try to play it. Hell I entered the tournament even though I suck ass at T6 and I got like 9th place or something and whatever because I like the game and even if I don’t expect to win I want to see numbers for it. I know for sure that T6 is at least on the level of BB/MK/Non Capcom games. I find it really amusing too that we’re going to discuss the numbers it has at Lucky’s considering how inconsistently the tournament has been hosted when Roski moved (not that I would expect any tournament to be consistently ran every month) also combined with looking at the numbers for other games (BB which had been cancelled many times or gotten like 4 entrants) and a few other games. If anything for tournaments that host Tekken just tell them that 7 people or below will be a round robin 70/30, 80/20 split and anything 8+ will be run as a tournament at the usual 70/20/10 rate.
Yo real talk, we got that 1 month in advance hype train going. Get ready for the next EZ tournament, RAWRRRRRR!!!1!1!!1!!1 Post in the thread so more out of state players can see it.
Thanks for the BBCS2 info guys. I bought that wolf guy and Makoto a while back, but had no one to play against. So Ill get that little magic girl and I’ll be set, after I get the update, thanks again.
I find it funny that people want to blame the Tekken community. A good number Tekken players have not come out to tournaments in a while, but that doesn’t mean that other people aren’t out there pushing the game. Demo is out here adding to the pot bonus. Alice Chan got his friends to come out to gatherings / tournaments for this game (not to mention helped teach them the game). And I used my computer and capture card to stream Tekken and Arcana at events. People in the Tekken community are doing things to help the scene grow.
The problem is that people are looking past all this, and complaining that they don’t see (insert name) at gatherings/tournaments anymore… or blame the scene’s past attendance at tournaments when there are a lot more new players who have come in since Tekken was taken off of NC’s tournament rosters.
DeMo, I hope you do get stuff going on with T6 man. I might not be able to play that game worth a crap but I don’t mind watching it or supporting it. BTW I’m gonna need someone’s help getting started with TTT2 when that comes out, loved getting my butt kicked and watching the original.
I kinda disagree. I’m actually looking forward to the next game, just to see what happens. Of course, this is most likely because it seems like they might actually finish BB’s story, whereas GG…well, y’know.
LOL story in fighting games!! Just messin’ with you, Blake lol, I remembered that you could unlock her in story mode after I posted but I didn’t think anybody would care to go through it. Isn’t it a huge pain in the ass? I don’t even have wolfman or squirrel furry yet. Man, this blazblue game has a fetish for everyone.
Demo: Please do, you might even be able to give me a ride since you’ll probably be coming through my area and I can help you relieve some of that gas money pressure.
As far as Tekken goes, I do see some new people and that’s fine and dandy but I’ve been playing a long time and I’ve seen alot of people claim alot of shit and then disappear so forgive me if I seem just a bit jaded. All I can say is I hope these guys are still here when TTT2 drops.
lol yeah I’m turning back into a storyline scrub, slowly but surely. BB is a great casual game, despite its shortcomings as a competitive game.
The CS story mode isn’t as annoying as CT because you don’t have to play through every single character’s path to unlock the true end (and subsequently Mu). It doesn’t take anywhere near as long, and you can always skip through text if you don’t care about the plot.
Demo, hit me up when Bryan’s having gatherings. With TTT2 coming out, I’m interested in getting back into Tekken.
160-40, stuck on the 5th Lord slog.
Even at intermediate rank, online Phoenix players still are quite beatable in spite of the lag.
Found out Taskmaster with meter gives my team some really big problems.
Sadly, that’s probably the only 2 things I learned today.
Actually found myself so bored fighting a Dante/Akuma/Ryu that I wasn’t looking at the screen when doing my BnB combos. Akuma/Ryu seems to be like the default backup team for lot of online scrubs. Even when some of them seem to have a decent point character and know how to effectively punish, it seems like Akuma/Ryu is the default filler in their team because they don’t know anyone else.
If SNKP releases KOF 13 on console sometime this century, I’m really not looking forward to seeing Terry on every fucking team. At least in KOF, you can’t have any weak links on your team and expect to win. There’s no Level 3 X-Factor to random out wins, either.
I’m amazed at people who have played 1000’s of matches on PSN and STILL pick laggy stages in matches. I would have thought it would have been common knowledge by now to always pick Danger Room when playing on PS3. I seriously think it should be a rule for PS3 Marvel tournaments.
After 1000’s of matches you’d think people would be able to pick up on the difference.
Or maybe people just don’t care that much. Or pick laggy stages deliberately.
Received my first hate mail today. Honestly I’m shocked it took this long.
Naturally, he rage quit.
Naturally, he had a really laggy connection.
Naturally, he was using Wolverine.
Naturally, he had random X’s in his name.
Apparently, I’m a stupid ass bitch who does the same things all the time. By that, I guess he means I repeatedly spam my BnB combo to punish unsafe moves and people who don’t care for blocking.
Told him to Stay Free, and to keep being original with Wolverine and mashing buttons and to make sure to always ragequit when losing or else he might look bad.
Oh god man, I really hate ragequitters but sometimes it’s so amusing. Now I don’t recall but didn’t MVC3 do something to punish rage quitters? Does it work and did this guy realize what he’s going to encounter if he keeps doing that I wonder. Good job grinding it out online though man that’s tough work.
We can both suck hardcore (or hopefully avoid it) with TTT2! Game looks like it may be a bit harder than T6 although like most team games i’m sure there are some synergy stuff going on. Overall though the game looks really fun from what i’ve seen so it will be cool if you play since then it will be more people “growing” on the game with me and I wont be the only scrub lol.
I guess this’ll be the first NC SSF4:AE gathering so… GET HYPE. Expect Marvel on one TV and AE on the other. Need someone to bring a copy of 360 marvel though as usual.
