Uh, well, if anyone just wants to play BB and have good ol’ fashioned fun & comp playing against a strong opponent that can adapt, hit me up. Tournaments, majors, experience, newer games, etc aside, I enjoy playing the game and will play it with people. Though I can understand time constraints stopping people from picking it up.
It just comes down to this: scrubs will always make excuses for sucking at games, and good players will find ways to optimize their practice time and level up more quickly. -Fubarduck

I decided to play BBCS2 since I still had it for some reason- it seems much improved for some reason.
I suck hard at this sort of game though.
I did like the super Hakucounter buff- loved full screen countering Hazama snakes and a gold burst already. I’m sure that move is pure gimmick though.
Top players aren’t making a living off of PLAYING video games. You’re making a living as a tester currently; so is Justin. Marn doesn’t have a full time job, but he doesn’t make a living off of video games either. Justin’s success is by no means over, and his family wasn’t very supportive of his tournament career until very recently from what I understand.
NOBODY should attempt to make a career out of playing fighting games. The only person who’s even close to being able to do that is Daigo, and he plays Mahjongg full time to make his money afaik.

When I brought up the money thing, I specifically mentioned SF4 for a reason. It really has nothing to do with the overall level of the players; as Matt pointed out, this state has produced players capable of competing at regional and national levels in their game of choice. The idea is that, as Matt also pointed out, we’ve been slack. The newer players especially have not done the degree of traveling necessary to see what they need to see and play who they need to play in order to step their game up. But even the experienced players have been apathetic about most of the newer games. Everyone has their reasons and I’m not passing judgement, just saying, we know what we need to do to improve, so those of us who want to get better need to get in motion.
Re: BBCS2, honestly Jon, just pick characters and figure out who you want to play. If you want to play Makoto and Valk, give them a legit shot instead of waiting for someone else to tell you how easy/hard they are to play. If you find a character you like, you’ll probably do well enough with them, regardless of whether or not you’re doing the optimal techniques. It’s never stopped you before, so I don’t see why you’re so hesitant now.
I may also hit up EZ this weekend. Depends on what’s going down in the next couple of days.

I’m just gonna have to accept that I probably won’t understand the NC fighting game community at all. There’s another 2+ weeks left so maybe there’s still enough time.
