BB player here in Benson/Raleigh/Fayetteville area. I’d definitely be interested in the Fayetteville tourney at least. Been to two of Lucky’s and thought it was a decent tournout both times. I’ll try to make it for the next one.
And although I rather dislike that you have to pay for DLC characters in BB (are there any other games that do this?), even if they are slightly more expensive on the PS3, I think it may be a better console, especially since pad warriors tend to prefer the PlayStation’s D-pad over Xbox’s.
I am going home to SC for a month. That means you have 30 days to buy/panhandle for/steal/kill someone and take theirs/steal someone’s credit card information get/ build out of legos and cheap wiring/ rob the hori manufacturing plant or warehouse for a stick. I don’t care how you get one, but get one.
See you in a month NC.
Did someone say MBAA?! I thought that game was dead in NC. Would rather much play that than any of the majors that are up. The only reason I care about AH3 is because no one plays MB and only care about BB cause nobody plays GG. What a sad time I decided to join the fighting game community.
The thing is that I don’t want to go through putting all this stuff together and then have a whole bunch of people not show up. it’s hard enough getting anyone in wilmington to show up considering most gamers seem to be frattish bros juiced on fps games or most people thinking that games are for kids while simultaneously bashing m rated games designed for non 7 year olds. I am saying some lag going on what Byrd is saying. I see like… Nothing. At all. Also there are tournaments that people travel to organized by er, valle that use so called “laggy” monitors. What I consider lag is like something actually significantly affecting gameplay, not that it takes .10102930394090288905409840th more of a second for tron to moan during her jump h.
@ the guy talking about the ps3 versions being better- massive framerate drops on marvel. as in, hi, welcome to marvel 3 ggpo.where 40 fps is normal in a 60 fps game. console warring is some pointless mess unless there is something actually effecting game play. graphics, characters, whatever, doesn’t matter. if a game works better on one console then that version is better. as it stands I do not know of differences on mk or ssf4, but as far as I see there isn’t much of a difference. I’ve heard of framerate drops on the ps3. Dumb. Ps3 is more powerful.
we can get equipment for this stuff- i honestly don’t care about screen lag or whatever. but you have to SHOW UP for something if we set it up to your specifications for whatever reason… not going through getting like 15 crt’s and xboxes and copies of marvel and clearing ALL OF THAT with the management and have nobody show up. i would much rather have a worthwhile turnout to setup for and so would the management- because it’s how they will make money off of this and therefore ok it in the first place. A large tournament will take up most of the floor and therefore will have to make up for the loss in card/game sales for the number of hours it happens.
if we set up for a big time deal, will you show up?
it is next saturday and every saturday. we need a SIGNIFICANT turnout. plan accordingly and let me and byrd know about this, and we’ll let dean know and get stuff together.
also more turnout= more games. i personally am vouching for some older sf like 3s and st and some fun stuff that everyone can do like windjammers. you will of course have to bring money for the pots for these games and well have to organize them out. right now we’re sticking with m3.
Lol everyone sucked there except you. I was drunk like half the time I was playing. You should have been there sooner so we could have played 4 against each other. I was buzzed playing that too, I had noooooooo reaction times to shit. We coud’ve split the lame ass action figures lolz. JON WHY DID YOU LOSE TO THAT BLANKA PLAYER SHEEEEIIIIITTTTT
In all honesty what you care about doesn’t matter. It’s what the community cares about that does. Lag is the difference between hitting all your links and doing the most damage with your openings and not doing shit at all. When we started throwing EZ together we had small turnouts despite the fact that we were getting the equipment. All it took was 1 or 2 “big names” from the community to say we were legit and since then most Fridays are pretty bumpin. If you don’t take the risk of going out of your way to give people what they want then no one is gonna bother. I know I won’t drive 2 hours to play on a laggy TV against a few guys when I could do that in the comfort of my own town. Gas ain’t free you know.
EZ management saw how passionate we were about playing and decided to give us a shot. They are definitely making some nice scrill off the fighting game community with the venue fee, soda, and snack sales. It might be worth while to mention all that to that shop. But really if you have Roski’s help nothing should be too much of a problem.
I don’t know if CS2 would actually do much better than AH3. Maybe at first, but people that would enter a tournament for that in Fayetteville…would be…Blake, Austin and a few people I don’t know I guess?
There were a couple of Lucky’s tournaments that had good turnout due to a bunch of cats from Charlotte showing up, but that fell off.
What I find happens with BB is one of two things:
The established players don’t want to give the game a chance, for some reason.
The newer players who are attracted to the game get discouraged when they get spanked and quit.
I know it doesn’t help when established players, myself definitely included, trash the game all the time. But if people are legitimately interested in giving the game a shot, I’m up for it. Information is available and I’ve got books chock full of data (in moonspeak), so the potential is there.
I don’t know what he looks like.
And I am doing this (almost) a week in advance.
Possibly putting the page up too since it typically takes dean till THE DAY BEFORE to put it up.
Austin and I played BB in to the dust the other night, I play it with 7th whenever he can tolerate it. I’ll definitely show up this friday for some BB and I’ll be at the tournament. If people want to play the game, just speak up. Smokin Jo and Joss seem interested, I know Blake is, zerogamer or whatever has a hakumen, all the arcana players to a person will play a game with platinum in it, Robocurse just posted about it, there is no reason for this to die again. If we can’t get a good session or tournament out of this game, it’s 100% because people just say shit they don’t mean.
Just a thought–maybe you should try to get involved with the NC community by getting to know people, and going to gatherings and tournaments BEFORE trying to set-up a huge tournament on your own.
I understand you are trying to get involved with your local scene, which is admirable, but keep in mind that there already is an established scene in NC and the best way to get started is to get introduced to the established scene, not try to prop out your own out of the blue and expect people to bend your way.
Well since this is my last week of school i will have alot more time on my hands lol besides work but i was thinking of holding sessions everynow then at gamefrog on a combination of like Thurs or saturday or something like that
