North Carolina Thread LVII

People that don’t understand how important lag-free monitors are should not be running sessions/tournaments.

No, I definitely understand. Again, I’m not able to host. I had a plan with someone that got bailed on, and I had to make a snap decision while there was still time before the date, or cancel it. While monitor lag is lame, I don’t think it warrants canceling a casual session. I’d definitely understand if we were being more serious or having tournaments. The TV may not even lag, we’ll find out when we play. If this doesn’t sound appealing to you, then don’t come. I’ll let you know when we have a place where you can bring your monitor. The point of this is to bring the Triad together, I’m not telling people they have to drive hours out of their way to come to Greensboro to play on a laggy TV if that’s not what they want to do.

Moving the Sessions to Lucky in the future isn’t a bad idea- especially if it remains weekday.

I don’t think Lucky gets a ton of business on Thursdays, so it would help him out even if only 10 people came I believe. (unsure on this).

I’d quite like that. I don’t frequent Lucky’s, I just hear about how busy weekends are there. Having discussions like this is why I’m starting this up. We’ll definitely talk about this today.

The #1 thing i hate is going to somebody’s spot to play on a laggy setup, casual session or not, offline lag is 100% unacceptable. And also gas is too gotdamn high to drive for some bullshit.

I’ve only been to Lucky’s on weekends, but his card game tournies seem to all be on weekends, and I don’t think Thursdays are big release days. It’s busy on weekends, especially if people are hype for a new game of some sort.

So empty shop he’d probably welcome $40 or $50 in venue fee.

Lucky’s is most busy on Fridays regularly because of FNM. Sometimes he has Magic events on Saturdays, his YGO tournaments are on Sundays.

So who’s gonna be up at animazement this weekend? You guys ready for an expensive door fee gathering?

is there anyone playing MK at EZ tonite?

We play on Fridays not Thursdays, and yes we do have MK players at EZ.

Was this with UNCC’s Gamer’s Alliance?

Will lets aim for either the 9th or the 16th, plus lets make sure it doesn’t overlap with any other tournaments, since it’ll be slightly before EVO might be nice to see if close out of states would want to attend

http://i.imgur.com/HOrj4.png Just gonna leave this here. Maybe it’ll make someone’s day like it did mine.

Well not sure on even going to uncg now, was planning to but with this TV business and a friend wanting to see a movie it looks like i probably won’t be going.
Hope you guys can get a better place worked out then.

No. I hosted at uncc for fighting games while I was there. I never got involved with gamer’s alliance.

i just want to throw it out here to the community that myself and a few friends are trying to start up a community in Jacksonville north Carolina if anyone is in the area please message me or something right now were still in the works of finding a venue and getting some capture equipment but hopefully we should be starting soon right now i think the consensus is or our stuff to have meetups on Wednesday for casual meet and greet stuff and Saturdays for tournaments if your interested in what were doing like i said just please hit us up and thanks for your time ps we also got a face book if you would like to throw ideas to us or just chat with the people you might be in the ring with the main focus of games right now is ssf4(ae when it comes out) mvc3 and mk9 we also got cvs2 andall the classics if theres enough interest to play them

How far is Jacksonville from RDU?

Y’all are in a tough spot since the only areas with a scene close enough to y’all are the Fayetteville, Greenville and Wilmington areas. Although there is an EZ in Jacksonville that just opened up and we host sessions/tournaments at the EZ in Fayetteville. So you can try working with them but please come professional with your plan well thought out.

That made my day.

Julian, get your ass back to NC.
