North Carolina Thread LVII

I used to play at naha alot, I’ve only been to Sega like twice haha.
I will be in town all of June, I’m contemplating staying for the rest of the year and returning to Yokohama for school in january but i’m not sure.
I’ll make sure to show to EZ though, seems like its the place there. Seanxfayt has actually played with me quite a bit I play Viper in sf4 and I play Tron/Hulk/Viper or Tron/Storm/Viper in MvC3 so yea… lol

Hey I was at UNCC before for weekend practice, but now is move to UNCG?
man is almost 1hr 30m drive :stuck_out_tongue:

No one have connection for anything in Charlotte??
BTW I have xbox 360 setup, most of my time is at work and anyone know any practice for weekend?

or only option I have is back to online… :stuck_out_tongue:

i will definitely try to make this. also, do you need us to bring any monitors?

There’s a flat panel TV in the room, I don’t know the specs on it. I do know that it’s locked to the wall so the only inputs that are accessible are the RCA ports on the side, unless someone has a VGA converter. It’s up to you if you want to bring additional monitors, there are outlets for them.

GGs at my place last night… I definitely need to settle on a team I want to use and just stick with that. I really sucked last night, everyone beat my ass. 5-6 hours of sleep for a week probably isn’t good for the brain.

Don’t know how many other comp sci majors are in here, but i think everyone can appreciate this:

Amazing.

  1. Are there any sessions or tournaments that I should add or remove on the first post? I want to keep it as up to date as possible.

  2. We’re probably going to skip the EZ tournament in June and go straight to July because all of the Saturdays in June seem occupied.

June 4 - Too soon
June 11 - CEO
June 18 - Lucky’s
June 25 - ECT3

So what Saturday would y’all like for July?

July 2
July 9
July 16
July 23
July 30 - Evo

Also what minor games do y’all want and what systems do y’all want to play on? We’ll leave this open to a vote.

Yeaah, I’m like 30 minutes from fayetteville haha

New SRK. Interesting.

Good shit to everyone at EZ last weekend. Twas a good time.

We’re playing at my place tonight. There may be multiple setups. Hit me up if you’re interested and not already coming.

This is going to be a problem. This tv is more than likely going to lag and thus I won’t wanna play on it. Plus this being a public facility on a college campus, the rules and regulations for us to bring tvs to that room might be a problem. You’re gonna need to ask if we can bring setups and you also need to check out if are enough outlets. If this room doesn’t work out you may need to find another venue on campus. Just saying. I really want this to turn into something relatively big compared to what we’ve been having.

On another note, my avatar is soooo anrgy. I’m thinking of possibly making an obnoxious signature banner.

Who is going to EZ Friday and carpooling? Can’t remember who said they were doing it, but there just has to be someone in the state of NC playing this week. I’m having fun now with training mode in MvC3 since there are so many characters I like and the different combinations make me think about certain things. After I’ve gotten the separate combos it’ll be practicing specific team stuff, but I’d rather start getting in some human opponent time and applying it to a non-standing character who isn’t the CPU.

I like how the new thread display puts more emphasis on post content, but everything else got really ugly. vBulletin 4 sucks so I can’t blame them for trying something new.

If the possibility of TV lag is going to deter you from playing with us, then at this stage of the game, this isn’t for you. I’m not able to host at my place. Friends of mine that could potentially host, don’t feel like it. I picked a spot that was convenient for me that as far as I know, does not have a publicized community outside of the Lucky’s tournaments. The location is definitely not ideal, and I’d rather think of this first session as an icebreaker.

tv lag shouldint be much of a problem if we bring our monitors, we just need to know if its cool if your library is cool with us bringing setups and such.

Probably not… I didn’t really think that situation through. I haven’t really informed the library of what is actually happening in the room, just that I have it reserved. The first session is planned for the library, but it definitely doesn’t have the stay there. If someone close by wants to host, be my guest.

How long did you reserve the room for?

How many outlets are in the room?

The maximum amount of time one student can reserve a room per day is two hours, so it is technically reserved from 4-6. However, given that it is Summer and there are something like nine floors of group study rooms like ours, I don’t think there will be any problems with us holding onto our room indefinitely. If you don’t feel comfortable with this and you are a UNCG student, what I believe you can do is go to the Libraries section of the website and piggyback on my reservation.

As far as outlets are concerned, I don’t remember the exact number, but there were far more than I was expecting when I visited. I’d say four panels of two, but that may be inaccurate.

I have work in the morning and I need to be getting to sleep. I can answer more questions in the morning, I’ll be up and at a computer bright and early.

To sum things up, I am holding an interest meeting for a fighting games group at UNCG. This is more of a Greensboro thing than it is a UNCG thing and it does not need to stay on campus in future incarnations. I’d like it to be weekly or every other week. Tomorrow’s meeting will be held in the second floor of the Jackson Library, room 274a. The time is 4pm until the library is closed or a significant amount of people leave. There is a large, flat panel monitor of unknown quality with accessible hookups for RCA and VGA. There are outlets for game consoles, etc. The room is meant for 12 people but it is large enough to accommodate more. There are also lots of tables. I am thinking for this meeting, it is a bad idea to bring other monitors into the library. There’s another identical room next to ours which can be used for a separate setup, 274b. For parking, my personal recommendation is near the Gatewood art building on Highland. As far as what we’ll be playing, I can only provide what I have: a PS3, a TE stick, SSF4, MVC3, BBCS, assorted PSN games, and a scattershot of games for other consoles incase anyone brings one. I hope to see you there!

Here’s a suggestion to the Triad scene, why not try hosting sessions at Lucky’s like how we do at EZ in Fayetteville? You already have a venue that’s cool with the fighting game community, just ask Lucky if there’s an available date that y’all can use weekly and offer him a $5 venue fee so he gets something out of it.
