What exactly happened with T6?
Apparently someone launched a controller then juggled a wristwatch across the room…
im preparing a statement on the Tekken 6 situation. lets keep the speculation and such down for now please.
The TVs were fine. Sure, I dropped combos, but I couldn’t even remotely fault the TV for anything.
My thoughts and suggestions for more efficient tournament:
Run 2 majors at once, preferably 1 larger and 1 smaller one (SF4+MK, then MvC3+Tekken)
Instead of having 4 TVs dedicated to one game, have at least 6 setups and use 3 per game, because as the tournament gets closer to finishing, you always have unused TVs.
Dedicate a single TV to the side tournaments, as they don’t take all that long to finish.
Overall I think the problems were more related to “too many people, not enough space and setups” rather than poor organization. I still say you need a bigger venue.
Good shit to Will on third in Marvel! We got one NC guy that got paid in it at least.
Great minds think alike (see my suggestion in the results thread).
GG results are whoa. Good stuff overall.
Yeah, I think Will did a good job running the tournament with what we have. Though I think the space issue could have been solved easier if EZ would dedicate more of the venue to the FG scene.
Maybe someone should talk with the manager about closing off about 3/4 of the venue specifically for the tournament. Like there are a bunch of unused HDTV’s at the tournament that could be removed and replaced with CRT’s for the day of the tournament. Right now, we probably have about 1/3 of the venue dedicated for the fighting game scene, yet (for tournaments) 80% of the people at Elite Zone are from our scene.
Were there any videos taken?
Really mad I missed this one…but what can you do sometimes things are just out of your control.
Can’t wait to read demo’s statement on what happened with T6, sounds crazy.
I’d just like to remind everyone that I did not run this tournament by myself (only a madman who enjoys frustration would want to run a large tournament on their own). Here’s just a small list of people who helped me:
Tom
Kevin
David
Raf
Sal
Dustin
Demo
Kris
Everyone who brought equipment, ran a bracket, cleaned up at the end, etc.
True, I guess I wasn’t giving credit to everyone who helped at EZ … I’ll help out with Arcana brackets next time though if the help is needed again. Was just really tired (sleep-wise) this time, and didn’t want to screw anything up since I never used the bracket program before.
EZ was fun and things were very smooth, there was alot of space but not alot of space we could actually use which shouldint be a problem next time since tables are gonna be set up outside.
only main complaint(and i have never complained about a tv at a tournament until now) was i really disliked the tvs, Austin told me on the way back that CRTS usually dont lag and i guess that might be the main reason why i didnt like them since i use a EVO tv at home. wish you guys had more monitor/EVO setups (there was none) for the tournament since alot of people do use them over CRTS.
One thing I like to point out was how tight knit the groups from Xanadu and Final Round were. I know Rugal B was like giving advice to his friends on what to do during casuals.
Those TV’s do not lag. The one I’ve heard complaints about is actually my CRT and it was the grand finals TV for every Lucky’s tournament in SF4 history. Nobody ever complained then and this is because… well… it doesn’t lag.
Damn…really wish I could have made it to the tournament. Would’ve been nice to play some new competition. Looking at the top people I think I could’ve faired relatively well.
Random thought: people need to stop bitching about every got damn thing and just man up for your own mistakes or make the best out of whatever situations are handed to you. Tired of seeing that shit and it’s irritating as hell. Maybe it’s just cuz I’m on the end of an 11 hour ride ATM… From the sounds of it someone needed to be punched in the face.
Good ish to Raf in AE btw.
Tournament was great, CRTs are fine. Even if you were in some other dimension where everyone played on their perfect Tv, people would still be complaining about how the random laser light just happened to go in their eye for that 1 critical frame they needed to block that mixup that woulda won them the match.
I mostly agree with this…
Although I am gonna bitch about how I hit a rose player meaty with cr.H as Fei as he did wake up ultra 2 as rose, saw the orbs, hit him clear in the cunt and then the orbs just stayed out and hit me… DAMNIT CAPCOM QA…
Ok thats all haha
Don’t blame CRTs for Capcom’s shitty programming in SF4 and MvC3.
Wasn’t meant to be man.
That’s… generally the impression I got yesterday from all the bullshit that happened in various games throughout the day.
