So today I found out Zangief has cooties.
Elizabreasts and Mai might be close to confirmed for console KOFXII.
Seems like they’re using the same strategy as SF4…save all the tits and ass for the console so the slobbering Japanese fanboys have an extra incentive to walk out of the game centers and pick up the home version.
I’m sure in the end SF4’s balance will be just as bad as any other big game. Maybe the pool of playable characters will be larger this time than usual though. I dunno. Most of the characters seem pretty similar to me in this game. The gameplay TO ME is pretty boring and homogenous for like most of the cast. I know not everyone plays EXACTLY the same but damn, crouching jab fighter 4 indeed. It’s a good game but it’s not really my definition of fun.
I’ma still play it though. Just mad all the fun to play characters die like bitches when they get hit.
Also, this game is so damn pretty, can’t wait till it comes out: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41152.html
Edit: wow Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma for PS3 has Co-op, shit looks fun:
And ALSO, apparently there is a jeet kune do school in durham I didn’t know about. I’ma hit that place up whenever I get some more free time. Been looking for one for FOREVER.
Soda Pop for the win!!!
What’s everybody doing today? This fucking rain is driving me nuts!
Getting cable installed in my dorm and most likely gonna play SF4/RE5 all day so I’ll be up for some games later on today.
Fucking rain…
no no no…Sandman ftw. allday.:wgrin:
Got a card tournament to go to for me, then probably gonna get some sleep because my dumb ass neighbor thinks it’s a good idea to cut random logs with a chainsaw at 9 oclock in the fucking morning.
Maybe I’ll be up for something later today though.
This japanese drama I’m watching right now has a pretty ballin soundtrack, shows pretty good too if you wanna check the shit out, it’s like a psychological detective suspense type thing:
I think Kof 12 will be a great game based on what i have seen so far. Probably will be our next big tournament game. Its on the qualifiers list of games for next years’ Final Round!
Oh yeah and i know we got luckys comin up which will def. be exciting but is anyone from NC going to the East Coast Throwdown in New Jersey?
Vega bottom tier?
Bitch plzzzzzzzzz…
I still don’t think the tier list is close to being accurate. C. Viper shoots from the very bottom to being up there with Fagat in a matter of a few short weeks?
Besides, i’m never going to bump into some god-like Evo level player that I have to worry pulling Claw against.
I believe in hard match-ups more so than defined tiers. Skill still makes about 90% of the game. I’ll take my low tier characters any day of the week. Thanks.
You do realize that tier lists are practically defined by match-ups.
Well of course. But tiers are not concrete. Never will be. Do I expect someone to win Evo2K9 with El Fuerte? Of course not. But do they really expect me to believe that El Fuerte is higher tier than Guile or Claw? Now that’s just absurd.
I know most of the obvious match-ups but some of the tier lists i’ve seen just make me chuckle. I guess I should feel good about myself then since I main the worst character in the game and still do so well with him.
All tier lists considered though…the tiers are never that far apart so the game still retains a fair amount of balance no matter who you play. I wonder though that if I spent all the time I play Claw and invest it into a character who is considered to actually be “good”…I wonder how much more ass I could kick… Ehhh…no thanks. Middle/low tier all day baby!
Fuerte is amazing if you have really good execution and his wakeup game is sick.
Of course tiers move around a bit but we still have a general idea where everyone lies at THIS point in time. Sure you can outskill someone but would it be easier to do it with Claw or with Sagat?
Tier lists to me are kinda like effort vs reward charts a lot of the time. USUALLY, the more easy / consistent a character is at high level play, the higher they will be on the list. This doesn’t always apply, especially with characters like viper, but ease of use is definitely a huge factor IMO. Less chance to fuck up and needing less setup is good.
But ease of use doesn’t apply at all to tier lists/matchup charts because it’s assuming the character is being played at utmost potential, so the player is never even taken into consideration…or at least, they shouldn’t be. I think the matches on that Japanese wiki thing are way exaggerated by scrubs/butthurt players. I think it’s right on some things, Gen/Dan tied for last is kinda nuts though and there are way too many 8/2s.
How bout that Fei being the best console character?
And this is why some tier lists are bullshit.
I do agree though that ease of use seems to be a factor in determining tiers.
Guess that means i’m putting in a ton of work being good with the lowest tier character. Meh…bullshit.
How about people play their mains and understand the match-ups and if needed have an alt for especially hard match-ups? I play Claw 99% of the time but if i’m facing a good boxer, i’ll pop out gief. Nuff said. Tiers…pfffft.
I guess i’m just burned that Claw is at the bottom. I feel like i’m the only SF4 claw player that sees so much potential with him. :bluu:
Yo’ C3 is total ass right now…if you didn’t go then be happy…:arazz:
3s > SFIV
Say what you want, but I will support Ed’s claims on this matter. The fucking gameplay and the engine are more shallow, as opposed to deep. Now, I’d still rather play IV than 3s because it’s fresh and new, but I can at least acknowledge and appreciate a programmer’s efforts to make a game deeper (3s). I think the main thing wrong with SFIV is the absence of a universal defensive technique - ie, parry. They didn’t have to bring back parry necessarily, but they could have done something to prevent the series from going backwards with people dieing to block damage and shit. Focus attack has no high-level practicality.
But hey what do I know, I’m just rambling. I play cult classics like Tekken and HnK.
Word, might have to check it out.
Pete recommended Paprika and The Sky Crawlers to me and I thought both of those were fucking excellent. Especially Paprika. I’m currently torrentin’ over 100 gigs of shows now, all simultaneously. Hard drives are almost full. Time to cop that 1TB Caviar Black.
Parrying is the main reason I don’t like 3s. Heh…
Not a huge fan of the feel of the game. never was. I love all the new characters and the overall presentation but it just felt…weird…to me. I don’t think of 3s when I think of street fighter. I think of SF2 and all of its revisions and HDR. SF4 to me is a sequel to SF2. SF3 was…well…it just has a mind of its own. I’ll play 3s and have fun with it but…I don’t like it enough to take it seriously.
Now i’m no SF4 fanboy but I do think it’s an incredible game and a worthy sequel to the SF franchise. Certainly turned out better than I was anticipating.
To each his own I guess.
Josh/YeahDood, I understand you don’t like having to chase someone, but it’s really disrespectful to just stop playing in the middle of a match and just taunt repeatedly. That’s why I quit on you the last time we played. It’s bad enough that there’s lag when we play, I don’t need to deal with players who are trying to prove a point to me by deliberately playing low-tier characters. You say Vega’s not low tier? Part of the reason I was keeping my distance from you is that Vega sucks on offense and can’t deal with a character that has a life advantage on him and keeps their distance. If you don’t like it, my suggestion would be to pick a better character. No offense, but it’s not fun for me to sit there and watch you spam cr.MP -> Rolling Crystal Flash either.
