North Carolina Players XXIV: What's in your SF4 syllabus?

Fair enough. I know that’s what you meant in the first place, so sorry for dragging out a debate. Especially for SF, when good 6-button pads are very rare.

Yes, and I agree.
I also shared a bit of disdain for the animation, back in the early videos, but as I said after Impact Clash, seeing it in real-time motion in front of your eyes makes a HUGE difference.
After that, I understood why the animations were made as exaggerated as they were: in order to emulate the visual speed and feel of the classic of SF 2-D gameplay with smooth animation.

Wait a minute…you’re saying RC macros are allowed in GG tournaments?!
checks FR rule thread:confused::confused::confused:

GODDAMN IT.
All this time wondering why you GG players kept saying Robo-Ky’s FRC are so easy, and it’s because you can use a RC BUTTON.
How about I lend you guys my pad, and see how you like doing FRCs with no RC button and having to press 3 buttons. Maybe then you’ll finally understand where I was coming from trying to learn that shit.

Guess why I play Slayer other than the fact he’s awesome?

YOU DON’T NEED FRCs. But yeah I feel your pain on that one, I’ve tried it before.

Also Kris what double post? I don’t see it. SRK has been weird tonight.

John and Brent are the only pad players who play GG and the rest of us STILL say that the FRC is easy. We don’t map buttons on our sticks either. I don’t know how hard it is press all 3 buttons on a pad but, hey that’s life. Its not like you should be mad. If you play GG with pad, go ahead and map the FRC. No ones gonna be mad at you for it.

Awright then. When I come to Lucky’s I’ll gladly lend you MY pad for your tournament matches and let you see how easy it is, okay?

With a RC button, now maybe I can train really hard in GG. By myself. Again.
There’s no other game out right now (that still matters) I’m interested in training in besides HD Remix (which we know almost nobody here is really going to play) and SF4, which I won’t have access to since I’m too damn poor to afford one of them new-fangled GameStations.

What should I be looking to do after Robo-Ky’s FRC :hs:?

Matt Frank had a really good answer the last time I asked, but it’s buried under walls of text somewhere in our old threads now.

I would GUESS 2S 5H frc into air combo, but I don’t know robo ky. That’s just what I’d think to do afterwards.

Btw anyone played the new Tenchu game for the Wii? I love Tenchu games so I’m hoping this one is actually pretty good this time around. Bitches better not slack on the brutality.

edit: wow some of the shit gen can do looks crazy:

Anti air air to air normal into ultra looks crazy.

Definitely gonna be worth the effort to get good at him i think.

Less than 6 days.

HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE!

Hay Naii, in honor of SF4, could you possibly make me an avatar with fei long, but give him a curly mustache? That’d be awesome if you could.

Yeah, I’ll get it to it later today. For now I’m going to bed man. I’ll PM You.

Oh yeah. Below.

You sir, are awesome. And make pimp ass avatars, so I’m glad you accepted, lol.

Also I laughed everytime they said fuck in that video, especially the old man. Onion is too strong.

:wonder: Here’s some more of Seagal’s antics… dood!:

Too good young man, mad funny.

Re: Shiki and pads and FRCs, I’ve played GG on pad for years and I’ve never used an RC button. The only person that maps it is Jon and he doesn’t even use it. It’s not hard if you practice it, not even on a standard PS2 controller, but the problem with that in my experience was accidnetally getting IK mode sometimes (hitting all four buttons). Ky has a lot of useful FRCs and I generally have no problem with them.

I also play Hilde on pad in SC4. Yeah, you can map RC, but it’s not necessary to play the game on pad…at least not to me anyway.

Just incase anyone wanted to know…SF4 music is up on shadowhaxor

First off, the FRC is easy because it’s a 6 frame window, which is 3 times as long as most of the other FRCs in the game.

2nd, you generally want to use 5H FRC after an unprorated launcher, like CH j.S, L3 Horsie, Robo Dash, or something of that nature (which basically means nothing beginning with 2K; the damage u get there isn’t worth the meter, u should just combo to 2S>2D and apply oki while on the mat). Then you can aircombo, into j.K>j.S dj. j.S j.H, or something involving his j.D, altho that generally isn’t as good of an option as it used to be. If all conditions are right (they’re cornered, your meter is around 6-7 blocks when you start the combo) u can hit a L2 missile loop, which consists of simply a j.S into as many L2 missiles as you can fire before your meter runs out. This combo does hella damage and hella dizzy, and will often times win you the match by itself; plus, it looks fucking awesome.

Thanks a lot for the response.

I have a hard time understanding the damage scaling (proration) system in the game, but I suppose it’s not some research won’t fix.

Yeah, shadowhaxor is usually pretty damn quick.

sc4 on xbl this afternoon anybody???

The quick answer is that any combo starting with Robo 2P, 2K, or 5K prorates 85%, so any combo after one of these attacks will do 85% of the damage it would normally do.

One thing you need to learn with Robo is how to time his 5P on the opponent’s wakeup. That fucking move only has 3 frames of recovery, so it’s safe to every DP in the game (except Robo’s) provided it’s timed properly. That, and it’s +7 on block, and it jacks the guard bar way higher than it should. Whore that shit.

Framez for u.

No no no, framez for me! bookmarks

FRAMES. Generally, light attacks prorate heavily, especially if they’re lows. Same for throws.

You’ll go for combos off of lights anyway because you hit more often with them, but the combos will generally be gatling > knockdown > something that puts you in an advantageous situation to continue offense/okizeme…of course this can vary character and situations, you can’t really generalize in GG much since everybody’s different.

^^^All of this. Specifically, in Robo’s case, most of your combos will end in 2S>2D, allowing you to stand on the mat gaining tension while you do wakeup stuff to your opponent.

DP, by “u” I meant everybody. All can enjoy TEH FRAMEZZZZZZZ.

EDIT: Brent with the OG av. Good shit.
