So I was gonna look at stuff in the SFIV forums and I noticed…
Um what? You have to beat the game with EVERYONE to get Seth. You can unlock all the other characters and still have to play through Arcade mode 16 times just to get Seth.
Really don’t see any reason why he should be banned, though.

Yeah, all you gotta do is unlock all the console characters, then you can unlock Akuma. After that, beat the game with him, then play through again and get to Gouken to unlock him.
Smurv - yeah pretty much man. You don’t know how many times I got my ass handed to me when I first picked up 3S seriously almost 3 years ago, and I got it even worse when I switched to Guilty Gear. A big “hump” people have to overcome when they first start trying to play at a high level is fighting pessimism. Cuz knowing your combo’s and being able to execute them 100% is fine and all but there’s a lot of mental endurance you have to build up for this kinda thing. Ex: you could be a beast ass player but if you lose all momentum or focus the first time you fuck up, then you’re done.

Love his short Dankyaku(gale kick). :tup: It’s like Alpha1 all over again with the short gale kick block stun tactics. His EX gale kick is great too. I’m glad his Koryuken is actually a solid anti air again, a’la Alpha1. Standing far MK seems to be a really great poke.

Dan is helping me enjoy the game. lol I think I’ll be messing with Dan and El fuerte. Game is starting to grow on me, but I don’t think it will be big enough for me to take it seriously and get back into the competitive fighting scene. I mean, I even stopped playing 3S almost 3 years ago, and if you knew me, then you know I loved that game. If I dropped that, I don’t think this will get me back into the scene.
Not griping or anything… but does the game, or did the game feel a little sluggish to any of you?

Yeah it does feel sluggish. I like the game but it just feels kinda choppy, but I guess that’s because of the 3D sprites. Its mainly the cr LP spam block strings that feel really weird.
Also wtf was capcom thinking on C.Vipers trial mode? hard trial level 3 is fucking ridiculous, they just pick needlessly hard combos that you’ll never do in a real match. I can high jump cancel her fierce into ultra fine but wtf…cr.LP? There’s not even enough time in the hitstop to do a 2xqcf motion.
I dont know if its curiosity or stupidity or a mixture of both but im compelled to go play in the pads ONLY, default characters REQUIRED GameStop tournament today. Headband FTW!!!

Smurv: Ive been EXACTLY where you are right now. In fact in lots of ways im still there. I totally wipe the floor with my other friends/local comp but the strats I use there dont hold up very well against higher level players like Matt Frank/Q/James/majority of NC SRKers. Playing with everyone in a variety of the games has made me strive harder for better competition and made me REALLY think about what I can/cant do in a match, how to properly punish & what to punish with. Just the other day I ate 10 straight losses from Matt but in the process I learned what works with Cammy. Just stick with it man. And dont EVER be afraid to ask a question…yeah it may be BEATEN into you but you will get an answer.

I did them, but I wasn’t happy about it. They were incessantly hard, yes. You aren’t even at the worst one lol. I did that one by starting at down+jab(which must be linked from the short before it, not chained), then doing a full 360 and keeping it going until you get to forward, then hitting 3P, but I’m using a stick; I couldn’t imagine doing that one on a pad.
Got a bunch of time in last night, and figured out a few things.
-Honda doesn’t suck. At all. Play him sorta like a grappler, Ochio is amazing in this game. Also, they took the floating neutral jump fierce kinda overboard; you can kinda jiggle him when he’s airborne once you press the button.
-Seth is pretty much perfect in terms of balance and design. He takes full retard damage (worse than Akuma), and deals shitty damage, but his specials and normals are awesome in terms of utility. He’s also really slow on the ground, but can be played effectively regardless.
-Antiair Ultra Demon is the shit.
Once people learn what they’re doing this game is gonna get really, really fun.
EDIT: Demo, you know damn well you’re welcome here. Hell, it’s a special occasion whenever you leave the sanctity of your house, almost like seeing a rare white elk.
Demo - well, need you forget how many times we’ve wanted you to come throwdown in tekken with us. When Tekken 6 drops you better be showin your ass up!! but yeah, Monday night. I’ll take that bet, cuz you know the germans always make good stuff? right?!

just got back from the gamestop tourny here. . .messed up 360 pads,1 hour wait to get 4 people, and i lost to some dude that everytime he wanted to talk he wrote it down on a note pad and gave it to you. . .and squeaked while he played. . .
I won the gamestop tourney at the winston mall. Now I gotta find a way to quickly win the next round and make it to lucky’s on time.
Honda blows in a few matchups still. Not as bad as the bad matchups were in ST.
As for Seth- I’m convinced he’ll either end up trash or god tier, depending on whether his tard damage or insane crap wins out- that’s the way it tends to go with chars like that.
