I’m planning on going for all three days, which probably means I will be heading down there on Thursday and coming back Monday. I plan to reserve one hotel room for this. Larry’s got a special with the hotel for 70 bucks a night.

A lot of people have American retail copies, and I can’t figure out how. I had a couple potential early release chances lined up, but I think none of those will happen.
I’ve check online for days, called every 7-eleven within 3 hours, and tried to patiently wait. Is there any way to get hands on an early copy? And I don’t mean like personal contacts, but like 7-eleven type deals. Surely as many copies as there are out there, it’s coming from some store that sells games early that no one would think to check. It can’t be illegal if everyone is talking about it, can it? I’m in the Greenville, NC area if that helps/hurts in reference to how to get one.
Figured I’d post and ask, cause I hadn’t seen anyone else do it. But the wait is killing me, cause I finished all the other stuff I wanted to do before SF4. And it didn’t take as long as I had hoped it would.

I will never stop playing 3rd Strike and after talking to several of the better 3S players on the east coast, neither will they. I’m gonna play SF4 like crazy (granted I almost don’t care for it) but I’ll still be on 3rd strike really hard.
I’m definitely going to FR again this year, but I’ll probably drive back on Sunday, as it is only like, a 4 and a half hour drive for me.

No matter who you play in HDRemix, there’s at least one character you can own and at least one character who owns you. Except for Ryu, who is good against anyone and Akuma who is TOO good against anyone.
That in itself is a balance.
High damage + very effective throws + random dizzys= Anybody on their best day can make a comeback and win.
KOF 2k2UM is gonna be brokeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I’d much rather want a balanced KOF 2000 with a more sensible striker system.
KOF XII…I really don’t believe is going to be good.
I know it’s their first attempt with a new engine, and hopefully KOF XIII will be special but I don’t know if KOF XIII is even going to happen if XII bombs.
They REALLY need to make Garou 2 with KOF XII quality graphics (but not with Nona’s awful designs).
And then NGBC2!!!

There are two chars that counter Ryu quite nicely. Unfortunately, I really dislike one of them.
Again, that’s why I say that in ST, there’s a reason to play the low tier chars. In 3S, there’s less reason to play non top-tier characters, as they have fewer good matchups against the top tier. I’m not saying it’s impossible for them to win, but I am saying that they generally don’t beat the top tier consistently.
Does Dudley for example, go 6-4 or better against any Yun or Chun?
I’d rather have a Real Bout 3 with KOFXII graphics then a Garou 2.

I’m not sure I understand what you mean.
If Dudley can get in your face, knock you down, and/or get you in the corner he’s easily one of the best characters in the game. At that point he’s the better character than whoever it is he’s fighting. If Dudley had tools where he could safely get in your face, he’d be broken and then everyone would complain about Captain Pringles.
What makes Yun and Chun high tier:
Chun doesn’t have to try hard to safely do damage. It’s hard to zone in on her without putting yourself at risk, whereas she isn’t at as much risk in the same zone.
Yun doesn’t have to fight for zone because he has Genie Jin.
But most people overlook the weakness of the characters though, and just label the game unbalanced or call it RPS. Chun and Yun are good, but far from broken.
But…
if you’re playing the characters in fighting games just to win match-ups then you’re really missing out on the big picture. :wonder: I dunno, I guess what I’m trying to say is in 3rd strike any character can beat the other, given both players are knowledgable and skilled. I admit some matchups are stupid (Oro vs Chun, Hugo vs Necro), but those don’t yield auto-lose situations. To me it seemed like Gief had absolutely no answer to a Turtle Claw. If that’s truly the case then that’s just stupid, I think. It’s like playing tic tac toe with somebody who gets two turns first. You will not win so long as they know the rules of tic tac toe.
