EDIT:
Finally Capcom did something right and released patch notes, now all they need to do is announce release dates and they’ll be caught up to the standard that was set by PC games about a decade ago when it comes to patches. After reviewing the patch notes all they really did was remove some infinites and fixed some bugs which is entirely understandable and personally what I was hoping they would do with patches from the beginning. Now I know some will view removing Captain America’s infinite as a balance nerf but I can see that from a developer standpoint how it would be undesirable.
So how about that rumor of there being a Hyper MvC3? Sounds like bullpocky and if it actually happens then I won’t be buying Capcom games foreeverrrrr.
i wouldn’t be surprised considering the amount of shit that is missing from online mode. also the i won’t buy capcom games if capcom does this thing, yeah that’s what they all say.
OK, so I promised myself that I would try to make my 1st non-Final Round major this year, and seeing as EVO is going to suck multiple bags of dicks, my choices are:
So what I am looking for are people who KNOW they want to go, who KNOW they are able to go, and who KNOW they can pay for themselves the whole weekend.
Sorry my Charlotte crew, you guys are my little brothers, but Final Round is Christmas for Santa Shiki, and Christmas only comes once per year.
So if you want to go to these you need to know 100% that you’re GOING and BE ABLE TO PAY AHEAD OF TIME.
As for me, CEO is definitely affordable for me which is why I can make it, but I’m leaning more towards not-MWC because that has more shit I’m interested in but on the downside it’s more expensive so I can only afford one.
Since my parents own a time-share with Wyndham, which is the hotel CEO is hosted at…what this means is that I MAY or MAY NOT be able to get a FREE room for CEO. I will find out by the end of the weekend if I can. IF I get a free room I am down to having 2-3 people sharing my room for free but you STILL need to be able to pay your way the rest of the weekend.
Since I can only afford ONE, which one I go to is based on who I can get to split a room with, so if you’re undecided on which one to go to:
Midwest has a HELL of a lot more anime game players, if you’re into anime games
-Plane tickets are twice as expensive in most cases
-For you people who have an irrational hatred of Keits, well it’s his tournament
-Not as many top players confirmed
-You have to email Keits for shuttle info because O’Hare airport doesn’t normally run a shuttle to the hotel
-SF4 is not AE, if unlike me, you actually give a shit
+/- Memorial Day weekend. For some people that may mean it’s easier to get off. For others it’s harder. Either way, travel will be more of a bitch.
+/- Smaller venue than CEO, but more space dedicated to side events
+/- SSF4 and MvC3 are PS3 only
+/- SSF4 and MvC3 pools begin on FRIDAY
ORLANDO–CEO)
+Place is within walking distance of Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure in case you wanted a side field trip. In fact, I may just head to Islands of Adventure on Thurs or Sun if I don’t find anything better to do on those days
+Venue is semi-far from Airport (10 miles) but they have guaranteed shuttles all the time and they’re fairly cheap
+Venue located by more stuff to do in general in and around hotel
+More top players confirmed including Tokido and Gamerbee for you Asian nutriders
+Venue is HUGE
+Plane tickets to Orlando from NC are pretty much dirt cheap as you can get, as long you book BEFORE June
+I might be able to get a free room
+High Roller tourneys for 3S, CvS2, and HD Remix
+If you pay for 2 nights under your name, your badge for the weekend is comped
+SF4 is going to be AE
-Rooms per night are more ($79/night)
-Likely less overall players
-Don’t expect big turnouts for anything besides Capcom games, Tekken, and MK
-They’re running SMASH (eww)
-Payouts only up to Top 8
+/- SF4 and MvC3 are 360 ONLY
+/- SF4 and MvC3 begin on SATURDAY
I would have wanted to go to MWC myself, but I can’t take the time off due to co-worker wanting to hit Animazement and I didn’t want to hose him.
BTW that mystery game- I’d expect it to be World Heroes Perfect for at least one of those rounds, and plenty of SNK, so you could be in good shape.
CEO is interesting, but I’d probably spend more time with a friend then at the tourney itself , and if I go, I can’t take any vacation until Feb. Wouldn’t know if I could even get time off until the end of the month.
And yeah, Smash is pretty big in ORL, I got to talk to a few of their folks- Tekken and Smash seem to be big down there.
Honestly, I’d say given what you like Shiki go with not-MWC. If it wasn’t Memorial Day Weekend I would be going myself.
With Marvel, Capcom isn’t interested in balancing the game, they just don’t want infinites. We don’t have a Cap player here that did the infinite, but there were plenty of them around the country, and it made the game pretty stupid to watch. Cap drops a tier on my list because of this, but he’s a MVC3 character, so he’s still good. Shit, Justin won a tournament a week ago with Thor.
I’m going to assume a Phoenix nerf won’t be coming for a while. My issue is, how do you nerf her and still keep her playable?
I think the best way to do that would be to adjust how her feathers work while Dark Phoenix. Either reducing the range or the amount that come out during her moves. Possibly even removing them altogether.
Some people who showed up last week didn’t show up this week and some people who didn’t show up last week showed up this week. So we pretty much ended up with the same amount of players. That’s nice but I’d like to see a steady growth but I guess stability is better than a decline. Still though I want to see players from the other major areas to come down and approve the venue before we start hosting tournaments. We have about 7-8 CRT setups at this point with enough systems and games to go around. As an inquiry who would rather have the sessions hosted on Saturday as opposed to Friday since I know some people have work/school up until midday Friday and may not want to make the drive because of that. Also which weekend in May would be the best for y’all to attend a tournament down here.
I’m actually going to this one by train. It’s not too bad of a price if you don’t mind getting their Thursday. Only 100 dollars round trip. I’m going to be rooming with Brandino though but if you go i’ll see you there.
On May 6th it’s gonna be me, brandino, and two others i’m driving up. Actually since we’re all Arcana players in the car and with the psn release he’s going to be bringing his setup + the game so that’s just one more thing to help out with setups/systems/extra people.
As far as the tournament goes, i’ll definitely support it. It’s not far away and i’m kind of like wtf at why NC has no tournaments lately around this area. Any weekend is good as long as I have two weeks in advance notice (to take off work) otherwise nothing is good.
For phoenix, I’d say just make it so when she gets hit, she loses homing orb, and add a little more recovery on her teleports. That’s really a big part of the easy mode gayness with her.
Justin winning with Thor doesn’t reaaallly matter though. It’s Justin. Justin won tournaments with SSF4 Makoto and shit. I know she’s not complete ass, and neither is thor, but at the same time how many other people are winning important tournaments with said characters.
