Any games today?
My problem with MvC3 isnt the insurmountable levels of bullshit, or the random nature of the fights, or any of that. Its that I simply cant play the characters I want to play, bottom line…point blank.
I dont like having to build a team around a character or certain assist types. I want to pick the characters I like and have them be somewhat viable, which isnt the case. Hence why I dont play the game.
And this is a good reason not to play it lol. Actually for normal MVC3 this was my problem too. I have a hard time playing characters just because they are really good or something I have to have some actual love for them whether it’s the character itself or the way they play.
This is why games that have developed far like Tekken are so interesting because they have a very diverse cast of characters and styles. I’d say SF but my problem is most of the interesting characters seemed to be in 3S and transitioning those ones into the 4 system might not even work very well because of how they were designed.

As long as picking one character based on their strengths exists (as it always will) it makes absolutely no sense to even assume you can make a team with 3 characters you like. The dynamic of the game is still based around having the better tools, and common sense says some characters are going to work much better with specific characters.
Preaching aside 1- its marvel and 2-its no more bullshit than any other game, in fact, Marvel 3 has one of the largest playable rosters in tourney play I have ever seen.
Oh, and theres a tourney in Winston on the 12th. So none of yall show up, I need some weed money.

This is how it works, the game you like everyone doesn’t like. So they will talk trash about it because they don’t like it. Everyone has something they don’t like and how it works in the majority now is they will openly talk down about it whether it be entirely justified or have no base other than they heard someone else say it or they immitate it. Online will not hinder you, believe it or not online helps it’s just a matter of how you make. Get a good circle of players play with them consistently look at what you did wrong and learn. Don’t stop playing because the local competition isn’t there when you have online available. If that was the case pretty much every game would be dead most everywhere in the US. If you want to get better make the effort and by my the effort i mean whatever you put it in you will get it in return.
Learning other games that 2.3 seconds to figure it out is all it takes. Lose to that 2.3 seconds. Take the fundamentals you might know from another game and apply it and figure out that solution. I have been seriously learning Marvel and 3s as much as I wouldn’t want to play either and that’s what it comes down to. Stop looking at what others aren’t doing and instead look at what you yourself are doing wrong and actually think long and hard about it. Everyone will not spoon feed you and that’s where I fall short because I don’t spoon feed anyone anything on improving because I never get spoon fed anything.

As far as anything else new as far as fighting games. I have been playing in more events while I am traveling. I have made it to japan however after I got situated i left and came to texas to see my family for thanksgiving. But I have been sponsored by a couple companies and am currently in the works for obtaining several other sponsorships. I also got a big job offer from one of my sponsors and will start that as soon as I turn 18.

I mean cap is playable now, hell I almost think he was before, just not many people put in the work. I fought one that Evo that was seriously hard to fight. Chris… there’s that one guy in cali that does really well with him, and Taskmaster is already good. Maybe it’s an unorthodox team but I feel like you could make it work if you put in the time. Problem is it takes too much work to make a team like that viable if you don’t have a passion for the game.
Seriously though, almost every MVC3 character is playable. Some have their niche and others might take a little work to get going good but it’s doable. Just hit training mode and find some setups with what you got, they’re there with almost any character combination.
What the hell? you’re not even 18? And where did you find the sponsors? I’ve always been curious how people get into that.

Everyone in Marvel has “bullshit”, and besides, if you think vanilla MVC3 is too much to handle, UMVC3 is gonna be no different. I’m not sure why people think it’s somehow gonna be better… if you don’t like unseeable mixups, UMVC3 is gonna be even worse. Maybe Phoenix is a little more manageable but some other asshole will take the title of easy mode BS and make people whine again. Instead of her it’ll just be Strange and Vergil or whatever.

I’m pretty sure I’m the only person besides maybe two or three others who play GG in NC and about the only one besides a few other cool kids who play MB. But I agree with you.
I’ll play you in it after it hits stores or I’m able to grab a copy from some hopeless unexpecting kid. Got some stuff I wanna test out.
lol, definitely shows you haven’t been in NC too long… that game used to be pretty big here. Kinda fell off after SF4 came out though.
Play Soul Calibur 5… it’s a good game (probably).
I bought Soul Calibur 4 today just so I could get ready for SC5. January is literally 2 months away its SUPER weird how the game was just announced a few months ago.
With that said it sucks to hear people shit on a game you play but IIRC everyone knows Street Fighter 4 is some bullshit, but people play it because its new.
And Marvel, people play that because it gives us a hope that Capcom would actually right the wrongs of the game to make it a really good game? None the less people are still gonna play that.
The 2d community is more or less unwilling to give Tekken, Calibur and VF a chance. Even though…I could ARGUABLY say Tekken is the most consistent fighting game franchise, probably the BEST fighting game franchise in terms of LISTENING to the PLAYERS and catering to the TOURNAMENT scene. Tekken is great for noobs to mash buttons, but theres depth to the system like NO OTHER, and you can be a rockstar without learning one frame links and EWGFx3
SNK fighters just dont appeal to the west, i was never a fan of their generic characters even though Mark Of The Wolves and SSTenka are solid games. I thought about getting KoF13, but theres no scene for it.
Blazblue is the redhead stepchild of Guilty Gear, but even so Blazblue still makes SF4 look pretty weak in comparison. I loved how there was literally no incentive to play Guilty Gear if you werent into fighting games hardcore.
Then you have your obscure and lesser known series that I refuse to mod a 150 dollar fightstick for, just to play Jojos Bizzare Adventure and Powerstone 1.
I guess I’m not really trying to make a point other than maybe the NC scene should just suck it up and really learn Marvel and SF4 regardless of its shortcomings because those are going to be two of the games that will remain relevant into 2012 most definitely. Hopefully Calibur 5 and Tekken Tag 2 make it a sold 4. I have no faith in BlazblueCS2.1 or Street Fighter x Tekken
EDIT: What other game has a diverse top 8 like Marvel 3? Marvel 3 has the LARGEST tournament equipped roster. Theres at least 15 characters who can hold their own, not even counting assist characters like Haggar and Tron.

How exactly can you speak for everyone? IMO sf4 is not some “bullshit” and there are a lot of others who share this same opinion. Also without any hostility, how can you say “it sucks to hear people shit on a game you play” but then continue to “shit on the game” right after your statement.
Because I didnt shit on SF4 I’m just keeping it real. Arcade Edition is some bullshit. Thats why Ono basically apologized and we’re getting a revamp in Dec. They made Yun and Yang overpowered on purpose.If you want to go allll the way back to vanilla SF4, Sagat, Ryu and the reward off of revenge meter is disgusting. Nerfs where there didnt need to be any galore. Things should have stayed where they were at Super, thats just my opinion. Making games “easier for newcomers” only make it easier for competitive players to exploit comeback mechanics and thats why we are in the mess we have now with Marvel and SSF4.

And Jaxel as well as Kayane already said SC5 feels like the medium between 3 and 4? And theres like hours of beta footage I dunno how you could say such a thing. SC5 looks like a faster SC4, which is a great thing.
