North Carolina Players LXII

It was a weird game first few days I hated it because of how strong random unblockable supers were, we found out how to deal with them so they were a terrible idea though. Then the game eventually died not only because everyone had infinites and stupid good combos but how fucking easy it was to confirm them with Kotomine and Lancer I mean jesus, most of the time if you were in the air it was kind of a bitch to infinite someone with those 2 NOPE. Lancer just spin that staff a few times activate then do your ground BnB, Kotomine well I could try for a 100% or I could just DP>throw key>super before key hits herp derp 1/2 life for no effort. I probably would of a liked it a bit better if the game wasn’t so stale on neutral and so silly once you hit someone.

Did you talk to the rec owner too because I’m wondering how would you know that considering he said it would’ve happened if he didn’t have to go into surgery.
I’m going to have to keep the Nov. 12 date as my only other option is the first Saturday of December and that’s relatively close to Christmas, and finals so I wouldn’t expect much turn outs then. I have to let you know that I will have to charge a $10 venue fee since I will have to be paying a considerable larger amount of money to host the room on a Saturday.

Official UMvC3 Changes are up for the Capcom side. What do you guys think?

Joe sounds awesome. But they didn’t mention that he is able to DHC out of his slow super. Apparently you could do this in the loke tests…

I’m going to be real. Fridays wouldn’t have worked because nobody is going to travel or take off work on a friday just for a tournament that looks to be hosted like 6pm or something like that. Second, having it on the 12th is fine but competing with ReSe is a pretty bad idea considering it’s just as big entrants wise as EZ and the majority are going there because out of state is known to show up. I feel like if you do have to pay this much money you will be taking a huge loss. You have to start out small and build up and travel out to stuff gaining interest for your event before you expect tons of people to show up. Especially if you are going to charge a 10 dollar venue what makes it more worth it to go to your event over ReSe (which again is highly likely to have out of state comp which a good ass kicking or matches with those types of player is what people need).

Yea I got that one, i’ll bring my game package. Burned that Jojo’s for you as well. I plan to stay till about 2:30 am and arrive around 6-6:30 so tomorrow should be good stuff. I’ll bring my camcorder too just incase somethings going on.

Dante changes are kinda bleh. He literally got one buff related to execution and then a slew of nerfs. Won’t be able to tell the full effects until I get my hands on the game, though. Might still be able to work something out with Acid Rain loops, especially now that style change specials are easier to do. They didn’t really change much that affects his overall playstyle, they just made it so he would have to work a lot harder to kill someone in one combo.

Zero changes are meh… despite what they gave him I get the feeling he’ll be a weaker character in the end for it, since he’ll do much less damage, but have a slightly better neutral game. Sounds like his combos took a big hit. Also why nerf the air buster shots? lol

Wesker getting buffs after buff at the cost of 100k health was dumb, not sure what they were thinking. Tron and Haggar are mostly unplayable now, especially with the Iron Fist assist apparently doing the same god damn thing. Hsien Ko got nothing she needed to be competitive, so now she’s probably worse than arthur if she wasn’t already.

Mostly I’m excited for Dormammu, considering I was already running things with him right now and some of these buffs being ridiculously good (dark matter cross up teleport… if they block it I get high low off of tri dash? I get a double mixup from neutral, that’s retarded… Imagine this)

  1. Dark Matter into either left teleport or right teleport.
  2. If you block that then high low tri dash (or empty try dash throw… I can combo off that now too)
  3. Start a block string off that, end in flame carpet > jam session, get my patented 5 way mixup off that.
  4. Holy shit you’re still blocking? do the same thing with my other assist, if you survive you’re FINALLY out of pressure, all for just letting me do dark matter from full screen.
  5. 1 second later… let’s do it again!

Dante’s Hammer in some ways got better, but it’ll be different. Looks to me like it might be really good for avoiding entry mixups now since its easier to do and goes invincible sooner. The rest like blake said is kinda TBD until we get our hands on him and really see. I think they were aiming to nerf the characters with super extended combos, I guess people didn’t like that.

Vergil looks awesome from the new maximillian videos, and iron fist chicken wing assist is amazing, although he’s probably ass on point so he needs it. Hawk eye looks great too, long combos ending in a super that lets you extend your combo a bit more. Vergil swords don’t look as good as I originally thought, they seem to go away if he gets hit and the hitstun / hitbox on them looks weakish. Still good for crossups I imagine.

I’m very glad two of my characters got buffed (dorm and wesker) and I really want to see how much invincibility wesker has with rhino charge. I was hoping they would buff arthurs movement quite a bit, but no go. right now it’s looking like I’m going to run dorm > ? > wesker. I need to play around with all of the new assists to see what my 2nd slot is going to be but I def want to go with a zoning oriented team.

Wesker getting stronger and faster after getting hurt, if he takes damage as an assist and then pops x factor lvl 3 things could get pretty crazy. Or even taking damage and then going x factor lvl 2 , might be a psuedo x factor lvl 3.

Rhino charge is his counter super right? I don’t get how they could put more invincibility on an already completely invincible from startup move lol

Def a possibility, although another zone char would be ideal. Oh I was thinking they added invincibility to jaguar kick, yea idk how that will help the counter super either.

You could probably use the running slashes with Vergil like a beam assist, since it gives a lot of horizontal coverage it looks like. Wright’s dog assist would be godlike for dormammu too, you could call it with darkmatter, teleport, and get an unblockable from full screen, plus he’s a zoner. I’m sure the raccoon will have some pretty beast zoning assists too. Maybe doctor strange too, his beam assist is interesting but it hits really high so that might be annoying. Would be keeping with the Dorm / Strange theme though lol. Maybe the homing disks too, they could fill in the holes where dorm doesn’t hit and could be used for teleport cross ups from pretty much anywhere. If you ran strange I’d put him last though, he looks pretty self sufficient and I’m pretty much 100% sure he’s going to be retarded in level 3 x factor, plus his assists would add more for wesker than wesker would add for him.

Well I was promoting the tournament more locally than statewide. Before I had set the date up I asked 50 people in my city what days would be good for them and 100% of them said either a Friday or Saturday. Is the 6pm a problem? I just want to know the reason behind that. With this being my first I never expected tons of people to show up in the first place. Right now I’m just trying to build a community and want enough to come to cover the rental fee. If I did lower the price how many of you would show up? Just wondering because if I can lower the price and get more people to come so that I’ll still be able to cover the rental fees I’d be willing to do that.

Jon, Hammer didn’t get any buff outside of the benefit of easier execution. It goes invincible later and the total invincibility got decreased too.

Looks like Tira no longer randomly changes stances, watching the SCV developer stream. If JG doesn’t jack up this game it’s looking really promising.

That doesn’t sound good. Not that big into SC, but any character with random stance change doesn’t sound too good. I’m assuming you can manually change stances now?

On the subject of UMvC3 I’m gonna practice with Dante and perhaps Zero in the demo to see how well everything translates over. May just wait until Ultimate comes out with Zero before X’s DLC. Starting to like Hawkeye more and more, but from what I hear about Dr. Strange I may have to look into him more. Wanna test a few things out in Ultimate, but first I’m gonna see what I can do in the demo and wait for more info until release.

With Skyrim and KOF coming out November is looking like an expensive early Christmas.

I think they changed it to a manual stance change due to an interview with Kayane a couple weeks back. So that’s good news that the SC team is working so closely with community on this.
