i’m all for the gems. this isn’t any different than DLC characters and they are tournament legal.

marvel super heroes had gems. they weren’t like this, but it was a similar concept. i think it’s going to add a HUGE metagame that will keep the game fresh, and with new gem packs coming out, the metagame will evolve as they go, much like magic the gathering which seth compared it to.

people seem to think that people with more money will have more/better gems and thus have an edge. yes, that’s true just like it is in magic. however in high level tournament magic, certain cards are banned and the pros have the funds to have access to all the best cards anyway, so it’s an even playing field. i’m sure all tournies will have all the gem packs, otherwise they’d be a gimped tourny.

the “edge” someone has with better gems will probably be the same as someone playing with a higher tier character than you. they are still very beatable and if you know the gems and how they activate you can shut them down. this won’t be as big a deal as people are making it out to be. if any game-breaking gems come out, they’ll get banned.

The thing is it’s much easier to make a gem then a new character so I’d imagine there will be a lot more DLC gems then characters. I can see the possibility of there being a lot of fragmentation and gems to pay for. That’s speculation, but what’s already confirmed to be pretty messed up is pre-order exclusive and limited edition exclusive gems. So there will be some gems some people will just never have access to, which is ridiculous.

It is the “shitty asian version”… to my knowledge capcom stopped servicing CPS3 boards? So if it is the asian version it can be resurrected… or resurrected to the asian version again?

I pretty much agree with that. Ammy in particular comes to mind as a character that was hit a little TOO hard by that nerf. It’s not like we don’t have a 1 frame air grab that leads to combos, why was it necessary? Like you said, “zoning” characters are just gonna get shat on by teleport characters. Or other zoning characters that can teleport. There’s a reason I play Dormammu, and it’s not just because his heads on fire and I like his evil voice.

Yep I watch SMAPxSMAP, after Mori left my favorite one became Kusanagi Tsuyoshi. I liked him in Ninkyo Helper.

I main Eileen in VF5 and until the K’ team was introduced in KOF, I liked the Yagami…or anyone team as long as I could play Iori.

Ninkyo Helper was a really cool show. Tsuyoshi’s acting has gotten a lot better over time, just like Nakai kun’s singing,lol

Well I’m only hosting two more before I leave for basic training, and I’ve posted it multiple times already. Every time someone asked me when the December one was I said it was the 17th. I’ve even been telling people this in person when asked. It doesn’t really matter, I don’t expect you to change your date since you already booked your hotel, I just assumed you were sticking to the 3rd since you’ve had that date for over a month now. I’m just annoyed with the constantly clashing dates, we’ve been having this problem since the summer (even when I kept future dates inside the thread).

GS, but I was hoping y’all would take it, still GS though.

Can you move yours to the 10th by any chance? I figured it would be a little easier since you seem to have a lot more leeway than I do with your venue. Let me know asap so I can figure out what I need to do. I am waiting on the hotel to get back to me about the 10th but it was booked already.

Dorm is going to get SOOOOOO much better because of the air-dash nerf. It’s an example of how a character will get stupidly by proxy because of a system change rather than a personal change, which something the new “Capcom” fails to take into consideration when balancing their games now.

It’s like, they nerfed Flame Carpet (goes away when Dorm is hit now) to help lower-tier characters like Morrigan who basically could not touch Dorm when it was out. But then they take away being able to block during her shitty airdashes which actually makes the match-up 10x WORSE for her now.
It doesn’t help anyone. Lower tier characters are still going to be shat on in Dorm’s case. The people who are really bad match-ups for Dorm (Dante is probably his worst) aren’t going to be affected by it either. So who’s really benefiting?

**Alright guys. There was a conflict with the date for Decembers tournament. Corner-Trap and I worked it out so…

DECEMBER 10th is the date for ReSe now!!

I appoligize for all the date moves and venue changes. I don’t have the luxury of having my own place and I can’t afford $1000 for the venue so I am left at the whim of others.

This hotel will be our venue for now on. Because I am getting discounted rates I have second choice on dates. July will be the hardest month to schedule cause of the busy month.

I don’t think Dante is that bad for him really. Maybe a little more annoying but right now you can just plop a flame carpet down and wait for him to teleport. He’s going to do it, and when he does you can have a nice little cr.M ready to set him on fire. Plus really, when you have a safe combo breaking move that you can combo off of that persists even if you get hit and sets up a 4 way mixup when used with your assist… you don’t really have bad matchups lol

IMO dorm is top 5 or atleast close to it right now. With some of his other buffs, system changes in his favor, and a lot of stuff that was better than him getting nerfed… well, he’s definitely gonna be a contender for top tier in ultimate. Just need air chaotic flame and angled chaotic flame and he’s golden.

Dorm is going to be better in Ultimate MvC3, but flame carpet goes away on hit and cr. M is getting nerfed with a smaller hitbox for whatever reason so that’s not going to specifically work against Dante anymore.

And yeah, Dorm 1-on-1, with no assists has some bad match-ups unless you can use XF3 to nuke people. He’s a massive target and there are some characters he can’t pressure at all if they get on him. You have to rely on getting lucky with pushblocking, a throw, or connecting a jab.
Dante doesn’t have to teleport, he can work his way to mid-range and from there if he can launch into air combo, flame carpet doesn’t do any good.

Hey guys I’m doing a test of my new video capture/streaming equipment. I figure you all would be better at telling how good frame rate is so if you get a chance could you check out my two videos in the 720p format and let me know if you see anything wrong? Vids are like a minute long or so. I’d like to test it out even more at the event at NC State if we have time prior to the start of the tournament.

If we could get it going that would own. I plan on being down in the Den no later than 11am myself to start setting up, though I may try to get there earlier (if only the dining halls opened at 9:30 on the weekends >:() I have never seen how streams are set up or how they are operated so we may have to think about the power usage, which shouldn’t matter since we are just replacing all the systems with our own basically, and about how to hook it all up. It probably won’t be a hassle so bring it on.

If we do get the stream up one of us will post the link here and on the tournament page.

Well i’ll see everyone at EZ Fridays, next Friday (the 28th) and going to bring a TV and console and my recording equipment stuff so can get more videos up. Not going to be able to make an EZ or ReSe for November because of money problems since i’m saving for a major but plan to make the EZ on the 17th of December.
