I wish SRK forums had a feature where I could block someones (shikis) posts so I just never see them, a forum I frequented years ago had this option and I didn’t realize how great it was until I started reading some (shikis) posts on here.
Gems forced to be on sounds pretty stupid, and unless everyone has access to all gems off the bat I won’t be getting the game. It looks like the most realistic thing people looking to play this game competitively can hope for is that there will be default gems that everyone will have and only those are allowed during tournament play.
Wanted to give you all that are not on Facebook an update on what’s going on at the Bar Fights here in Charlotte. ATL_Raccoon came out with ATL_David. They are going to come out every week now to try and win the FR prize. Raccoon just racked up 20 points in one night so he is on his way to catching up.
First place has 58 I think so he is not very far away. I think Jon and Demo may be coming down next week to try and stop them so if you were interested in checking out Charlotte’s Bar Fights now’s the time to ask about a carpool.

i’m all for the gems. this isn’t any different than DLC characters and they are tournament legal.
marvel super heroes had gems. they weren’t like this, but it was a similar concept. i think it’s going to add a HUGE metagame that will keep the game fresh, and with new gem packs coming out, the metagame will evolve as they go, much like magic the gathering which seth compared it to.
people seem to think that people with more money will have more/better gems and thus have an edge. yes, that’s true just like it is in magic. however in high level tournament magic, certain cards are banned and the pros have the funds to have access to all the best cards anyway, so it’s an even playing field. i’m sure all tournies will have all the gem packs, otherwise they’d be a gimped tourny.
the “edge” someone has with better gems will probably be the same as someone playing with a higher tier character than you. they are still very beatable and if you know the gems and how they activate you can shut them down. this won’t be as big a deal as people are making it out to be. if any game-breaking gems come out, they’ll get banned.
Picking gems before battle sounds like a pain anyone who played SWR or SWRS knows what I’m talking about picking [S]cards[/S] I mean gems is really cool in single player and just playing online but at a gathering or a tournament it is a pain, especially if you ever want to play your secondary woops well I use a different gem set entirely with them, ohh don’t forget trying to switch out profiles to load in their own gems, on SWR/SWRS this was managable once everyone put there stuff in and each player was allowed 4 decks per character(normally you only wanted 2 for more standard play and a 3rd for specific matchup(s), and a 4th for trolling). The switching time between profiles was like 2 seconds on a 360 or PS3 ughhh you guys know how long it can take, and sometimes the game will make you back out all the way and ughhh.
I felt like I was missing something watching his Athena so maybe that was it. I like Kula as well but I think what really sold me was seeing Vice’s combos. I’m going to try it (Kula combos) your way tonight.
I know there is a new generation of fight games coming out but I do hope that KOF/Virtual Fighter will be experienced by many. Oh yes I am a big fan of SMAP, even though I am new to learning about them, I like them more when they had Mori in the group.

I regret to inform you all that the tournament tomorrow has been canceled. The manager of the rec center supposed to be going in surgery tomorrow and he’s not allowed to let someone else fill in, due to some city policy. Again, I would like to apologize to everyone.

Well I’m only hosting two more before I leave for basic training, and I’ve posted it multiple times already. Every time someone asked me when the December one was I said it was the 17th. I’ve even been telling people this in person when asked. It doesn’t really matter, I don’t expect you to change your date since you already booked your hotel, I just assumed you were sticking to the 3rd since you’ve had that date for over a month now. I’m just annoyed with the constantly clashing dates, we’ve been having this problem since the summer (even when I kept future dates inside the thread).

Yeah I’m looking forward to VF5FS and KOF 13, I played both in the Japanese arcades and loved them!! In VF I main Sarah Bryant. That game is dope, its fast and fluid with lots of new animations and moves. Visually stunning and balanced. Everything SFT4 isn’t.lol WOW, SMAP with Mori, that’s old school(^o^)/. Yeah they were at their best back in the days for sure. Do you ever watch SAMPXSMAP on TV? It’s one of my Fav Japanese TV shows that and Shomuni.
Yep I watch SMAPxSMAP, after Mori left my favorite one became Kusanagi Tsuyoshi. I liked him in Ninkyo Helper.
I main Eileen in VF5 and until the K’ team was introduced in KOF, I liked the Yagami…or anyone team as long as I could play Iori.
