BTW Red Arremer (SvC Chaos) is the same guy er… demon from Demon Crest/Gargoyle’s Quest right? He was named Firebrandt there.
Another thing from that game is that the world, artwork & presentation looks a lot like Darkstalkers. (I recall the Eye-bat thingy and a boss that was a kind of Talbain clone…) I think Arremer would fit nicely in the Darkstalkers universe (Demon Crest also featured a Human & Demon world).
CFJ/E is about 2D Fighters vs. 2D Fighters. No way will characters from other games show up unless Capcom changes the formula. And since CFJ is being very well recieved in Japan, don’t bet on it.(Unless it falls off quick.) What you guys want is a true All Star Game, but that’s not what CFJ is.
I don’t think Jill Valentine worked out well in the MVC Games at all. She’s just a big joke. Try imagining Jill Fighting in a Fan Fic or something. “I’m Fighting Cyclops, uh oh! A Zombie’s gonna eat me. Let me get out of the way so it can attack Cyclops. But how this Zombie appeared on an Iceberg in the middle of the Arctic I have no idea…” Capcom tossed all these All Stars into the MVC Games because in their own worlds they didn’t take the game seriously, hence Amingo and Norimaro. People running around wearing tights saving the world is still a silly concept in Japan, but movies like Spider-Man and X-Men being released over there kind of softened that. Just look at Anime and Manga. They don’t have Super Heroes at all. And the tights wearing Super Hero Skullomania from Arika is a HUGE joke. But they have Shadow Giest at least…
But most of the time non fighter characters don’t show up in fighters because either the creators of the game don’t want it or the creators of the characters don’t want them in a 2D Game. Hell, Megaman’s creator Inafune Executive Produced CFJ. If he wanted Megaman in the Game he’d be in there plain and simple. Hell he even had an existing 2D Sprite.
BTW, MVC2 that has all of these guest stars proved unpopular in Japan.
So yeah, wish for an All Star Capcom Fighter (but not CFAS…) if you want to see Resident Evil, Dante or Viewtiful Joe in a Fighting game but don’t expect them in CFJ 2 if that ever comes out.

Mummy-B once said it’s because the Japanese don’t like the fact that Marvel dominates the game. But Kyoji says that it’s also because the Japanese version of MvC2 had a much slower character access rate, causing lots of people to play with an incomplete roster and getting bored with it.
Now the game’s been out for what, five years? I think MvC2’s actually rising in popularity there somewhat. The Japanese have willingly volunteered for MvC2 tournies in several events like B5 and Evo, in spite of them losing horribly at it. And, as you say, movies like Spiderman and X-Men have softened thier perception of the whole thing being silly. Lol.
I would think the Japanese would like an all-star game if the battle engine was more down to earth. In MvC2 and it’s forerunners the Marvel characters have huge attacks with beams and giant blast spheres and the like. Because of that the Capcom characters were steroided to near-DBZ levels to compete but still failed to do so and in the process made things look goofy. But if a 2D all star game was made more on the CvS2/CFE level then I think they would receive it well.

Yeah, I couldn’t agree more. Different Strokes, Different Folks. I like Godzilla and Marvel myself anyways.
