I mean you’re talking to someone who could really care less since it’s all completely cosmetic. I wasn’t really up in arms about the DOA costume pricing either since it’s just…a costume. It doesn’t make your character stronger or create heavy issues for tournament. Some of the bundles for DOA I know were going for like 99 dollars for a season, but I guess that makes sense since there’s just THAT MANY costumes.
Capcom has said some of the money they’re charging for the 10 dollar stage goes to CPT funding so they’ll get people to buy it just on that. In the end it’s all cosmetic so they can charge whatever they know people will pay for. I’m only gonna pay for what I want which is most of Chun’s costumes and maybe some of Ibuki’s and some random ones I think are funny or cool.
Its total bullshit. That’s why I’m waiting as long as it takes for them to release a discounted bundle. I want to buy the DLC and support them but this is just too much.
I’m simply informing you of your ignorance.
I’m not taking you to task over anything else.
And DOA uses some of that money for tournaments, characters and stages without really needing to say that a particular pack is going to a certain tourney’s pot…
And that still doesn’t justify the 10$ price tag or the increased cost of the costumes, no matter what the reason is. It’s still highway robbery, plain and simple.
That’s fine, but there’s nothing to win with me. You’re talking to someone that doesn’t care since it doesn’t affect the gameplay any ways. Just like I never really went WTF over the DOA costumes or any other costumes that don’t affect gameplay. I can always just say “hey this is expensive so I’ll just get these few costumes and be done”. Game is still the same otherwise.
The only thing I didn’t really like was the SFxT gem stuff since that actually affected gameplay.
I am contemplating the CPT bundle to support the CPT, but I am waiting on the Premium Costumes until there’s a discounted bundle, because 4 dollars a pop is preposterous.
CPT is a promotional event to help sell the game though. Why are we looking at it like something we should support? I paid about 40 for the game itself.
They’ll probably release year end “editions” (what you’d often call “definitive” or “game of the year” editions) with the past seasons content down the line.
Because the CPT itself costs alot to run despite the fact that Capcom doesn’t earn anything directly from the events themselves. And before anyone else brings up the DOA 5 Battle Royal, take note that what they pay out in those events barely equals what Capcom puts out for one event - Team NINJA is spending $15,000 in total for the Battle Royal, $1,000 per event plus $6,000 for the final at NEX XVII which is equal the the $15,000 pot bonus that Capcom adds to each Premier Event (not including the $50,000 for Evo and $250,000 for Capcom Cup).
There is no way that the retail sales of the game alone can cover that. Not for a game that’s supposed to last for at least 5 or so years in the competitive circuit. What we have here instead is something that’s supposed to be a symbiotic relationship between the CPT and the DLC where the CPT is supposed to help promote the game and sell DLC, while the DLC is supposed to help fund the CPT.
Yeah I remember back when I was sort of new to 4 I would do random select in endless lobbies with my friends. After about an hour I’d have like 50 notifications of colors and titles being unlocked.
That is just one more reason not to support it since I think this push for esports is a mistake to begin with. It is draining resources that could go for actual development and improve the game with more content and polishing. As of a matter of fact, this misguided approach was the very reason why SFV was rushed into the market and failed to reach its sales expectations. SFIV expanded the competitive scene just fine without this bullshit. Smash, well, let’s not even get into it.
I usually don’t buy premium costumes as I really don’t give enough of a fuck about them. Yes, the prices are high, but if memory serves me right we knew what they were going to be from the start. Not saying it excuses it, but we really shouldn’t be surprised.
I will still pay if I really want a character’s costume. I play two characters in this game. That’s $8. At worst, that’s three happy hour beers. I can live with that.
The only reason i bought the season pass was because i got sfv on sale for $32. I expected the season pass to include all future characters and stages on vanilla. Was pissed that only guiles stage came free as i still had earn fight points for kanzuki beach and casino.
But why do I care about a pot bonus for a SFV tournament? Just about the same people are going to go and play their heart out anyways which is what I care to see. I could care less if they get paid a lot in the end.
I’m not trying to be mean, I’m really not understanding this.
Yeah I was really salty about this. Admittedly, I didn’t read or at least memorize what the pass came with. When I learned it didn’t include stages I was really disappointed.
