to each his own i guess…it just never worked for me( well sorta i do some ghetto 22C loop like 6Cx2,22C) i’ve never gotten by doing it fast as possible… if you can get it to work that way more props to you… but i know first hand since the game came out in our arcade that it didn’t work based on how fast you can do it…
About this, it seems most of Noel’s damage requires you to launch the opponent or put them in a state of knockdown, the above 4 methods, for example. A problem with this is that some, like 3C are unsafe without RC, and they are in general comparatively difficult to land on a competent person compared to say, Ragna who can hit confirm his 5B or 5C into his bnb.
Messing around in training mode for a bit I think I’ve found a way to initiate a combo off the easier to land 6C, it goes something like
6C(1) > j9.C > j.D > 28D, and you can tag them with a quick 66C into whatever as they come down.
The j9.C needs to come out asap so you don’t whiff it over their heads, and I may be wrong about this but it may not be possible on small characters like Carl. You could simply launch off a 6A, but 6C comes out quicker, has more active frames and can be cancelled into relatively safe 2C on block.
It’s a proper bright red combo, no slow ass 6B or 3C needed, so I’d like to get you guys’ opinions on this, is there something I’m missing?
well you have to keep in mind… Noel is high risk/high reward… she has so much damage potential but in order to pull them off you have to do some risks in order to get in… 5a rushes can only get you so far…not saying you can’t be safe…it’s just in order to the big damage you want… you got put some risk in there… and good reactions… this ain’t nu or arakune…
DP…
GL TO ALL MY NOELS AT SBO (whether american or Japanese)
This is one of my first online matches I had been in, I think I did reasonably well considering the guy was a level 46 (?).
Two Noels got knocked out 1st round (HeartNana…) and the last one got knocked out 2nd round.
Fumo’s Arakune took 1st place.
BB @ SBO made me  and didn’t hype me nearly as much as SFIV or GGXXAC did. Ah well.
@Token686: You really need to land those 6C > BC loops and drive juggles. That Rachel gave you so many openings (you hit her with 3C and 6A a few times). Also, I’d suggest using [5A x n > dash > 5A x n] or [6C > 2C > 66C > 2C] more for pressure strings against Rachel.
Yeah I noticed that too. If you can’t do those 6C->BC Loops yet, a 6C->Air Combo Followup teaches you the Dash Timing after 22C (after you hit 3C)
And 5A is really what lacks your Game
You have more options out of 5A to improve your Pressure on Rachel :3
I HOPE she’s not 46… or else the competition just made me facepalm.
That Rachel was not… very good. She played way too defensively and let you have way too much breathing room. I would not suggest basing your attack strats against Rachel on that one at all. However, I WOULD suggest learning how to transfer those slide hits into bnb combos. You had a lot of hits like that and capitalizing would have won you that match.
Good luck, sir! May we meet on the field of battle!
Dude, watch the dvd and learn the combos.
I have been away and have not played this game in over a month. I picked it up last night for a quick run, and couldn’t do anything with Noel. I got perfected twice by a online Tager. Twice!! I couldn’t believe it myself. I need to get back into training, but honestly, I do not have as much time as I would like to invest in gaming right now but I will be back though. Have fun everyone.
Yes, you are comparing a mid hitting 6C to 3C and 6B; a couple of Noel’s mixup options.
yeah, 6C isn’t such a good move for a starter. (which why it isn’t…)
noel get most of her dmg from random hits, and she does that by pressuring her opponent.
her pressure (once she gets in) is awesome, your opponent will panic, afraid of guard break, and let you fish some random hits, which most of them is high damage. (hell, 5A goes for the 3000).
Id have to agree with the above assessment of that video. I’m unsure how that Rachel could be that high of a level there are several low attacks that she could have taken that were easy shots and instead just stood there.
Not sure about xbox but on PS3 i have found that level doesn’t really seem to mean much other than they play a lot. I have had some of my roughest competition from low level players and just smeared higher level players.
very very true. im a lvl 50 and i am pretty bad >.>
edit:
ill be honest, that rachel in that video was horrible. ive played some that put so much pressure on me that i couldnt even poke.
im having a hard time against litchi specifically, any advice? mostly get beaten in air-to-air situations…
- Don’t do an aerial approach if she’s got her staff.
- If you insist, or she doesn’t have her staff, i’ve found a good approach is to IAD into barrier. Sometimes you can also get lucky with a j.6C crossover.
- Watch out for 6C or 5B blockstrings… if they tend to block low you’ll get raped for trying.
Mixups? If you’re using 3C outside of a combo, you deserve it when your opponent combos you. Same if you use 6B outside of a pressure string (with the exception of using it to bait certain moves). Both are predictable because they’re high reward and incredibly slow, and 3C has a hell of a cooldown.
Finding a combo off of 6C is totally legitimate, and somewhat useful, since 66C 2C can be a good pressure string when the opponent isn’t expecting it. Having something to combo into in the unlikely case that the 6C hits is kind of nice.
EDIT: I was doing some experiments with 5C, hoping that I could use this technique to get a better no heat combo from 2A or 2B. Unfortunately, this only works with 66C, because if you don’t have the momentum from the dash, you’ll fall short with the J.D.
any tips on the matchup against nu-13? i played a good one today and had alot of trouble getting in on her.
Fighting v-13 is always a slow, careful battle for me. I find what works best is doing oddly timed double jumps, and blocking any time I’m not entering a directional command. Any time she throws out a knife that misses, I dash in and punish, and, if I get a knockdown, I follow and apply wake up pressure. If she manages to hit me with something that knocks me back, I start the whole process all over again.
You can also dash in and punish on an instant blocked knife, but most Nu players will throw out a lot of them, so it’s a lot easier to punish a whiffed one.
Ah thanks. That’s what I was trying to imply, but I didn’t really feel like following up. I think you explained it better that I would have anyway
