No vids of US SF's 'Golden Era' & best_ever player!?

what is this shit???
wtf is with this insane game commentary?
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
gdlk FGD trolling, lol.

If anyone has supercade and can watch replays, check out my replay vs drewpc777 AKA Rocky Rose. You’ll see how scrubby of a player he is.

I’m just an average player yet I beat him without much effort, so that says a lot about his skill level.

for the replay, search for wadeoc314 vs drewpc777.

lol rocky rose is still making vids? amazing.

if only he played mvc2 :frowning:

Haha! Making a Supercade account is probably the worst thing Rocky could have done to showcase his alleged greatness. No more only recording his wins & conveniently leaving out his losses. Now people can just check the full replays themselves & see what really happened. He’s already uploaded a match where he supposedly played Jeff Schaefer when it blatantly isn’t. The game was against BLADE_ whose a player from New Zealand & a personal friend of mine. When we both pointed out the inaccuracies on the video he deleted our comments & blocked us… LOL! Here’s the video FYI -

Its so sad its hilarious. I watch his videos when i am feeling down to know that when compared to his life, life ain’t so bad.

Ok guys, I just got sent this today:

Secondly, Elton Chong (that is actually the name of one of the real Cali Oldschool players) is clearly another of Rocky Rose’s (the guy in the video above) smurfs along with the 50 or so he has on youtube:

Duno how many more of sudden spate of oldschool doubters / haters in this thread are also him, but maybe an admin could do an ip check?
The cornfield stuff was funny for 5 minuites, but after seeing that video above acting like that, I am genuinely concerned for his parents (whom he still lives with) safety…

EDIT - Cribs Rocky Rose:

dude

what is your problem with jeff?
why are you obsessing over the poor guy?

you’re acting like he raped your baby.

lol, great troll vid though.
i clicked the like option. just for kicks.

what if jeff does suck nowadays. who cares. why do you want him to still be great at sf when hes playing for kicks and not competively/seriosly nowadays?

@Waedoc314
you did claim to play against that miserable redneck piece of shit on Supercade and unfortunately, YOU are now INFECTED so Crayfish blocked you off on Youtube. sorry…

P.S.
please don’t block ME on Youtube Cray!!!

8P

What is this, Resident Evil? Don’t give me that “infected” BS. lol

I just wanted Crayfish to expose Rocky Rose by uploading his losses.

@Waedoc314
hey, be careful. that hybrid hillbilly virus can infect you via electronic transmission while playing SF2 HF on Supercade/GGPO!!! that Elton Chong guy is just one of numerous minions and a top ranking one it seems, hell-bent on wreaking havoc ON SRK!!! where did you think they got the idea to set Resident Evil in a modern American metropolis named Raccoon City?!?

Elton Chong/Rocky Rose vs Bojack: clash of top players! :rofl:

Nobody has ever demolished me in HF as thoroughly as Rocky Rose. He’s one of the few players whose ability exceeds his shit talking. I know he’s not popular around here, but I think his videos are funny as hell and I enjoy playing against him.

If Rocky Rose / Elton Chong ever set foot in Southern California,I’ll personally challenge them a first to 10 for 200 bucks at Super Arcade in Walnut ( sit down head to head Japanese cab or stand up HF switched to the ST cab ). I havent touched HF competitively in years, but I am pretty sure I could mollywop these two suckas up with a strand of ballsack curl from my left nut.

HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER!

I love how people try to discredit the US players for the USA vs Japan event in 2000, but always seem to leave out that it was one of the first times and tournaments where they used Japanese sticks. That is pretty important thing to leave out when discussing their first time over there. A problem Watson especially had while over there after playing on American sticks for 9 years.

Also I love when these guys like Tosaki call the game unevolved during SFs most played era. Not realizing that the game pretty much died completely after 95 leaving some room to evolve in the future, but pretty much putting the focus on ST. So for those years after, who was there to evolve the game. Pretty sure the OG players evolved the game into what it is today. Of course there have been advancements in the game and strats have been developed, but were not talking about 3S here or even ST where there are still tournaments and drive. We are talking about CPS1 SF i.e. hyper fighting. Great game and a true test of people`s reactions, spacing, footsies, zoning and all the things that make a great SF game. While it may be primitive in its development, it is more of a test of true skill and patience. Which makes the argument more sound for the OGs as they were the ones to master SF fundamentals from the beginning.

Just look at Watson today. SF OG who kept playing throughout the years. Was a top player all the way to 3S and even for a while SF4. Look at Choi, winning two evo tournaments back in 08 at an older age. Also one of the few players that gives BAS a run for his money in CVS2. Schaeffer beat Daigo in Anniversary during Daigos American heyday as well as when SBO was using Hyper SF2 Anniversary. You can't deny how good the OGs are because just look at them today. They are still really good, but some fools bring up some videos from players like Schaeffer who quit a long time ago getting beat down and expect that to be the same play and reaction skills they had 20 years ago...get real people. And that Daigo event even happened 6 years ago, people can't stay good forever. No one should treat the OGs like untouchable gods nor should they treat them as yesterdays trash. Give them respect for what they have done, they clearly are and were phenomenal players for their time and even now.

As for the Japanese, during the golden era, you had two countries both playing the game at its inception. Both had very large player bases and Tomo was deemed Americas definitive champion by a long margin. You had Kuni discuss how there were maybe 1-5 players that might be a Tomos level. The guy won 100 tournaments at the most popular game of its day. On top of that, both countries had been playing at the same developmental stages of the games lifespan with both having fierce competition. What happened? Arcades started dying in the US, Americans stopped playing fighting games which drove the comp down, the Japanese kept playing with strong competition, new games came out which brought in new players in the US and many old players just stopped playing. You can argue all you want on how much the game has developed since then, but truth is that after 95, people weren’t play Hyper Fighting, it was all about ST if you had to play SF2 and didn’t move onto the Alphas. So make every development argument you want, but that game was most developed during the early to mid 90s at the peak of SF and the time honoured champion of that specific era was still Tomo. And no Rocky Rose or Elton Chong or any of these left over Hyper Fighting players(myself included) can dethrone his legacy. Who knows how good Tomo was, but for that era we new he was the best. There is more than enough evidence to prove that.

Tomo, Jeff, Mike Watson on Arcade Releif stream:

Well said Turbo2Tone. It’s pretty hilarious that some kids think most players just mashed buttons back then mindlessly without any concept of strategy. That the best players back then were chumps that would get owned if they played today. Ignorance is bliss to some I guess.

Oh yeah to the kids suggesting why don’t they dominate in modern games if they were so good. Well these players of the old SF2 era are well into their 40s, married, kids, careers. Yeah so devoting many hours to a video game isn’t high on their priority list, obviously.

There’s this thing you’ll notice as you age, you really do start to slow down, even by your '30s.

Edit: Also, reasons don’t matter. If folks aren’t winning now, there’s zero reason to believe they’re good now.

Isn’t Daigo 30 or something? He’s doing pretty well. Quite a few of those ‘legendary’ players that are 30 or over still play. The thing is they put in the time still, even if they have much less spare time than teens and young 20 somethings.

I don’t think anyone is saying they are good now, they probably haven’t played in a long time. Just saying if you transported those old timer players in their prime to the modern era, it is ignorant to say they couldn’t succeed. People before Diago won that first SFIV tournament were saying he’s too old, he’s done, he was good back then but players are much better now, etc. Obviously they were wrong. Daigo put in the time and won.
