Peter Rosenthal head film critic at the Onion weighs in
Wow you pretty much encapsulated everything I had to say, right down to the movie rankings and the shoes without socks thing. Lol
The Bond song felt so out of place with the theme as well. Still it was an entertaining film all around. I really wish they Christoph Waltz had more material to work with as his character never felt as threatening as he could’ve been. He did his part but his presence felt underwhelming halfway through the film.
The whole Spectre organization felt far more intimidating in the prior films; its influence felt weak once the group was revealed. You’d think with their operatives and extensive network Bond would have to be looking over his shoulder constantly and ducking sniper shots. Bourne movies for example, create that tension that there’s counter-intelligence and assassins on the protagonists’ tails every 5 seconds.
Hans Landa was a perfect example of a cultured sociopath who could instill real fear, even with his placid demeanor:
A true villain. Which is what I had hoped to see in Spectre.
I need to watch that movie again (Inglorious Basterds)
movie was ok, not bad not great. the plot has more holes in it than the normal bond film which takes away a lot. i echo the bautista underused sentiment. solid 7/10. worth watching once.
Waltz was classic Blofeld. Sure, he may not have been Telly Savalas, but IMO he’s up there with the some of the other actors who’ve played the role.
I’d put this as second behind Casino Royale and above Skyfall. At the very least, compared to the latter, this has a plot that felt like it was moving towards something and not serving as filler to set up the remaining 3rd of the movie (which was the problem with Skyfall).
i just watched it. needed more bautista. he was a great…dudes really getting this stunt stuff. respect. the plot was predictable as hell though…i was a bit mad. i kept telling myself i was hoping i was wrong. i really didnt like i figured the plot in the first 20-30 minutes of the movie. i like a bit more mystery to my bonds. Daniel craig must have set some sort of record…every one of his movies involves him or his opponent going through a wall lol. who are building these shitty walls?
christoph needed more epic monologues. his interaction with bond came off too petty imo. that hes just salty about not getting daddys attention?
i enjoyed the movie overall. it didnt feel long at all. i think you guys may suffer from a.d.d…and this is coming from a a.d.h.d guy.
God damn, Bautista was the fucking Nemesis! Great solid movie over all, i still find myself enjoying skyfall more though.
I’ll say it again, Bautista should have been the main villain in this film. He would have been such an original bond villain, the homage to blofeld was pointless. Just imagine Bautista as the main villain with more screen time and the train fight being the last scene in the film.
Radiohead were asked to write the Spectre theme before Sam Smith, and this is how it turned out.
Instrumental wise it sounds more like a James bond theme than Sam Smith’s song but I can barely hear what he’s saying. He manages to fit the word Spectre into the lyrics so that probably counts for something.
Too be honest I felt the Sam Smith song worked with intro sequence well. Radiohead’s song would have put me to sleep lol
“License to kill” by Gladys Knight may forever be my favourite bond song. I’ll probably rank my top 5 bond songs later.
The Sam Smith song was fine, I think his voice fits well for a bond theme. If people liked the Adele song I don’t know why they didn’t like Sam smith’s song which was a lot better in my opinion. I also preferred it over the main intro song in Casino Royal. In fact the Spectre song was the most commercially successful Bond song ever.
me and rock did
Finally got round to seeing this flick, god damn, had to snort coffee to make it through to the end. Wtf happened lol? Thank god Craig is done.
Has Waltz done anything good since Basterds cuz he sucked in this.
Names of those movies plz.
Is this forreal?
Don’t be playing with my emotions cuz i’m bout ready for something new
Yeh he said he is sick of playing Bond even before the movie was released
This is the first shit role I’ve seen him in.
Its the 3rd role ive seen him in, a 33% fail rate aint too good for em. Man the am actually bitter over this, I knew they wouldnt risk it but Batista as Blofeld would have been awesome in this movie, especially all the fight scenes they coulda deleted the entire Waltz character, the family background and just Have Craig and Batista go at it as too equals from different walks.
Shit he even looks like him from the first book.
google it the fuck up. nvm, blue is the warmest color for seydoux comes to mind, zip for belucci though. XD
well put. lmao those Bond name puns
That’s that…time to find a new Bond.
