Because of his inherent bias of hating Moore. Personally I am indifferent about Moore’s portrayal of Bond, but he has the most Bond adventures under his belt as it were.

I don’t hate Moore. He’s far from my favorite but hate is a strong word.

Michael Keaton who only 5′ 9″ stood on a Box when filming Batman
And LOTR and the Hobbits have both 7 foot fall and midget stand ins to create the illusion that some characters are shorter or taller than others.

Studios do shit to make people taller.

Eh I did say hate but it’s a strong word he’s one of my least favorite bonds but I don’t really hate him. I wouldn’t call it a bias either, I have reasons and I have watched his stuff, it’s not like I dislike his movies for no reason. I dislike some of Connery’s Bond work for similar reasons.

And I don’t see what platform shoes have fuck all to do with anything in movies.

Tom Hardy wore platform shoes to whip Batman’s ass. It’s the land of make believe. That’s a small issue.

The differences in stature of races and fantastical creatures in the Lord of the Rings require smoke and mirrors.

Movie adaptations of comic books are bottom of the barrel just slightly higher on the food chain than movie adaptations of video games. There are no expectations of anything worthwhile from them, so what does it matter what they use. They could use machine learning AI actors and nobody would give a fuck.

Speak for yourself douchebag.

Craig is my favorite bond.

Eh… If they planned to do a black female Double-0 agent 10-15 years ago I probably wouldn’t have cared, but now that these changes are guaranteed to be tinged with ancillary 3rd wave feminist and other lame identity politics BS, it’s bound to take me out of the film. Added to the fact that they will be forced to make her more masculine and snarky to cement her as a “genuine” 007 successor.

I’m sure much of the screenplay will have shoehorned “I’m a black woman overcoming discrimination” narrative to death and have hamfisted fight scenes of her trading blows with 200+lb bodyguards and hitmen who conveniently pause mid-fight to take her attacks before tossing themselves 10 feet to make it “convincing”.

Also, why did she need the 007 designation, couldn’t they have devoted an entirely different side-project that could run in tandem with Bond? It could add some more world building to the series and also a nice contrast. Similar to how Leon and Ada complemented each other in the Resident Evil games without being other’s surrogates.

Because 007 sells. None of the others would draw the same attention. You know it and I know it.

I mean look you just wrote 3 paragraphs of assumptions based on nothing but her being female, black, and 007.

Already garnering more talk then calling her 005 ever would.

Hold up, they’re making a female 007?

Didn’t know 007 was gender specific…

Nick Fury was created in the mid 1960s and was a white man until the mid 2000s
No one really gave a damn about Heimdall being black
Optimus Prime didn’t have flames till 2007

It’ll be fine unless you just don’t want it to be, and in that case, don’t give them your money.

I get all that, but for some reason Bond just feels a little different. Maybe a much wider audience and recognition as the suave, womanizing, male spy who likes it shaken not stirred? He’s more of a cultural icon than anyone you listed. Dunno. Just feels a little forced to me.

It’s definitely the gender that makes it feel off, too. I was really pulling for Idris to take over.

The issue I worry is they’ll make headlines about how men or whites will complain or some kind of BS. No one will care if you don’t bring it up. On the other hand controversy makes money. It’s (green) still the only color that matters
