cant believe theres no online play for this. Anyone else pissed? :xeye:
I’d rather have it come out on console a crapload earlier than have them implement online play (look at the difference in release dates for SF:AC for PS2 and XB). Online play is fun when there’s no competition where you live, but there’s gonna be plenty for T5 especially around console release.
Plus online play was never expected for T5 in the first place, that was just a wet dream.
hm. good point. long live an earlier release. gimme mah tekken
Why am I reminded of those ketchup commercials: “The best things come to those who wait.” :pleased:
BTW, is there no online for console T5 or just no online for arcade like what Japan is getting?
No online for console.
It would’ve been nice, but I’ll have plenty of comp so it’s all good. Sucks for those who don’t, though.
So when is the console release?

Im sorry but in this day and age on-line play in a fighter is a must anymore. It really gives it more life if you can just go out and beat down some random scrub on the net. And it has been proven it can work with DOA:U, MK:D, SF:AC, GG2X#R, CVS2. So I really cant think of a valid excuse not to include it in a game anymore.
i kinda wish it was implemented in soul calibur 2…i also kinda wish tekken 5 would be released on xbox heh
It looks like Namco don’t care about online play. Which doesn’t bother me since I don’t/can’t play my consoles online.
never say never…look how DOAU sold! Bill might make online to grab PS2players!
that blows. online play is the only way for me to get competition around the silver city. ill just wait for Tekken 5 to drop down to $20 before i pick it up then
Nah, not really.
Maybe they’ll later release an anniversary package featuring another Tekken, but with all the characters from all the games, single and tag play and an olnine feature.
If that were to happen, I wouldn’t be playing with the tag feature anyway. Tagging after everything sucks. ;x
I guess thats too much, they prolly sayin’ “Hey, were doin’ enough with T5 with all the testiin’!!” I swear they’re on like their 10th test of this game and where in November now!!
Namco definitely cares about online play. SC3 is expected to be console-only and have a major emphasis on online play like DOAU and MKD. But I think they decided they just didn’t have the time to make T5 online worthwhile.
Lazy, shitty companies like Capcom US and SNK US are the reason for the delays, not the online feature itself. If they had anything in their brains, they would have started working in it earlier.
Its called “planning ahead”.
Actually as long as it doesn’t end up like CvS2 and GGXX#R online that’s a good reason not to include online play, but considering that DOAU and MKD run smooth online, both 3d fighters, it would be nice, for Tekken players, to get online play for the consoles.
To the thread starter:
Im a bit dissapointed about no online myself but look on the bright side: The Arcade Cabinet for the game is gonna be really cool and feature some pretty advanced and funky shit. For starters you will be able to purchase your own memory card thingy witch contains your personal game profile as well as your custom characters(The single player game earns you the ability to purchase a variety of costumes which you can set up any way you like for the characters you purchase them for), and this single player thing isnt just a gimmick either, Im getting the impression that its a pretty lengthy affair and will build on the famous conquest mode from SCII, and their will be a variety of players on the same teams, so if you ask me its gonna be pretty nuts. Let’s not forget that Tekken 4 is probably going to be featured at most arcades worth anything since at the very least 3d fighting games are still pretty hot as opposed to 2d fighting games at least here in America, so it shouldnt be hard to find comp. My local arcade is getting it so Ill be havin lots of fun…
On a Side note, I think its worth mentioning that at evo this year, Namco took notes from the best players in the world and fixed some of the bigger complaints, such as Jin’s low recovery times amongst other stuff so Im confident the end result will be a game very much on par with SCII in terms of balance, and that’s a good thing since SCII is probably one of the most well balanced games of all time IMO.
Kazuya 4 life fools!
I’ll give you a hint to one. Online play isn’t added with the flip of a switch.
And in any one of those above games, can you play it exactly the same way you play against a flesh and blood opponent occupying the 2P slot on your system? In three of them, no, you CAN’T. Not 100% of the time. The other two, OTOH, don’t matter as their gameplay isn’t precise enough for you to care really how net play treats the match. You can guess how I’m grouping those games on your own.
The game is only 40% complete so you never know…
