No More Heroes 2 Thread

HAHA. I loved that trailer! Thanks for sharing it with me.

So I’ll put up some concept art of Kimmy Howell and Nathan since you’ve already seen them… one second…

Thanks a lot bro. If I tell anybody, I won’t out who you are or the source link

Damn I want to ask question’s, but I’m almost star-struck.

To start how was it working with the VA’s? Was it tiring for them. Were they laughing at the whole irony, and ridiculousness of everything that goes on in the game? Who was your favorite VA?

Were there any preliminary weapons or vehicles for Travis that didn’t make the cut?

I guess thats what I can think of for now

None of the VAs actually started laughing out loud at the ridiculousness of this game and the their lines, but many of them did chuckle/giggle. There were a few on-spot changes to the script because the VA would screw up their lines, but it sounded so natural we would keep both the “screw-up” recording and the strict-script recording. The voice actress who did the main cheerleader actually was laughing hysterically at her lines which made us laugh. Except for the super main characters with lots of lines, most voice actors came for a 30 minute or 60 minute session. Just walk inside the studio, do introductions, then they drink some water and do their thing, then after everybody is satisfied with the recorded material we let the VA go. Remember, the VA are all part of a guild or union, so they are getting paid $200 an hour or something. We were on a strict budget, so we don’t cannot afford to screw around and have the VA do overtime.

*I also learned that eating a green apple stops that lip smacking sound and mouth noise. I was like “why does she want apple slices of all things?”

I had a few favorite VAs (can’t pick just one). ONE was Kimberly Brooks (voice for Shinobu). She’s so cute. After her 90 minute session, I was shocked to find out that she already has two children. I was in the back trying to plan my mack attack when I heard the news. TWO was Khary Payton who did the voice for Nathan (the black Irish gangster) and the voices for two other characters. He was such a chill guy and how the hell would you react if you were told that “you’re an Irish black gangster.” Yet he pulled off the voice perfectly. THREE was Matt Mercer who voiced Bishop, Skelter, and a fat henchman. His fat henchman was phenomenal. Nobody else seemed to appreciate the awesomeness of it, but that’s okay.

Robin Atkin Downs (Travis) was a given for phenomenal VA. As is Paula Tiso (Sylvia). Btw, she is mad hot. The VA for Sylvia is just as hot as Sylvia herself, what a wonderful coincidence.

We had one big f*ck up though. We had our outsource voice recording studio choose the VAs (of course, we had input, and all VAs from the first game returned again, if they were still alive). The studio picked a Chinese American man to do the voice of one of the more “ethnic” bosses. But the thing is, he also had to do the voice of two native English speaking American characters with no foreign accent which our agent didn’t know. So we tried really hard to get him to suppress his Chinese accent, but yeah.

Mind-blowing experience. I was star-struck myself. The feeling of having professional voice actors say lines that you wrote is indescribable. I consider NMH 2 my magnum opus with bragging rights for life. And that’s pretty sweet. I could die tomorrow, but that’ll be okay because someone liked it when Travis says “This isn’t a battle anymore, it’s a motherfuckin’ war!”.

Were there any preliminary weapons or vehicles for Travis that didn’t make the cut?

None.

But I just looked over my character art folders and have realized that not one, but TWO boss characters did not make it into the game. Interesting.

That’s pretty funny with the Chinese-American.

Are you allowed to disclose any of the info about the two boss characters that didn’t make it into the game? I know there are some people that have review copies of the game already. One guy on Gamefaqs in particular

Are you allowed to disclose any of the info about the two boss characters that didn’t make it into the game?

I’ll say it again. I am not allowed to disclose anything that you couldn’t find out on your own. I.E. everything I am telling you is classified and I am breaking rules because I know the feeling when you love a game and then you get some unreleased info from somewhere, and you’re like, “what?!” and then you just crave for more. It’s no excuse for me breaking the rules of a contract…but I’m doing it in a way so as not to spoil Suda’s game. Only to add to it. I finished my work on NMH 2 last year in April. And the script and voice acting was finished before that in December of 2008. So I’ve been keeping my mouth shut for a long time because I’d be disrespectul to DAT Suda to start giving out tid-bits way before Jan.26. That’s my belief anyway.

Review copies about now makes sense. I wish I got a review copy of Chrono Trigger when I was 10 years old, lol.

When I say two bosses didn’t make it into the game, I mean they were never even programmed. Only drawn, but didn’t win the lottery.

I’ll put up the art for the two scrapped bosses after the release date. But their filenames are: “Bizarre Jelly” and “Lame American”.

Really appreciate you putting your neck out to show us these things. Your experiences are really interesting reads as well.

Spitting game at Shinobu. Lol

Are you still planning on sharing the 2nd script? or are you waiting until after the release date for that?

Anymore catchy songs? Masafumi Takada is a beast.

Also I was surprised when I heard that song in the Clothing store of the first game is actually by a real, and pretty catchy Japanese pop band might I add. The Genki Rockets

Not sure about the soundtrack. When I played a very early test version in March last year, the only music was during the fight with Skelter, Travis’s apartment, and the battle with Nathan. Yeah… the battle theme versus Nathan was hot. It made me less angry since I initially repeatedly got my ass kicked by attacks I had no idea how to dodge. But yeah, the BGM is something I was not at all involved in, and I quit my company before I could test later prototypes of the game.

A week or two after the game’s released, I’ll share the original script. Or sooner.

I never played the original for the Wii, but plan to import the Japanese 360 version next month.

Just watched the @Insta interviews on the Japanese XBL and liked what I saw/heard.

I didn’t even know NMH1 existed until I was told that I would be responsible for translating the script for NMH2.

I then watched someone play through NHM1 on youtube and I was like, “Oh hellz yeah. This is going to be the most enjoyable and cool project since joining this company.”

NemoDC thanks a bunch for all the goodness. Man these next few days are gonna be killer, cant wait to get my hands on NMH2. Thanks again

ONE MORE DAY

I wonder if you’ll be able to use your save from the first NMH for the sequel.

Funny boy.

Please tell me Poison Prisoner is in the game

thanks for all the pics and awesome stories Nemo. Cant wait for tomorrow.

Damn I checked the photobucket link again and theres more art but kinda spolierish =( Good thing I didnt click on the thumbnails. I’m gonna have to beat the game tomorrow in one sitting so I can enjoy the art

Yeah dude, Genki Rockets is sick. Lumi (the lead singer) is a synthesized combo of two singers (for the English and Japanese voices), they had her perform via hologram at Live Earth.
