I got a question for Nemo. I’m loving the game so far, but one tiny little thing is getting to me. The style of this series is amazing, and some of that also came down to the way the characters were named. I’m about 5 fights in, and i’m not liking the way the ranked assasins are named. In the original, we had weird, off beat names like Death Metal, Speed Buster, Letz Shake, Destroyman, etc. All awesome and fitting the design of the characters well. However in 2, though the designs are bad ass…the assasins (thus far for me) have simple, i wouldn’t say generic, but normal names. Kimmy, Matt Helms, Charlie MacDonald…why the decision to go about naming the characters this way? Not that i’m complaining, but i don’t see “No More Heroes” when i hear the name Matt Helms over Speed Buster.
…but something i really miss is the way the announced the Ranked Assassins in the first one. The one voice whispering the assassins name while a guitar played and a silhouette of the assassin was shown. That was genius =) Baaaaad Giiiiiiiirl.
I agree , I dislike that the boss names are plain generic and have nothing unique about them .
it sucks that the bosses aren’t as memorable. I believe this is partly due to the absence of the voice that introduced the bosses in the first NMH . You never get to know the name of the bosses until after you kill them and it turns out to be a lame ass name , which really sucks .
the fights are still awesome though
how the fuck do you dodge that teleport punch nonesense? cant figure it out for the life of me, and then boss gets free hits. i can deal with the boss fine, but once he starts doing that teleport stuff i just die. the regular telepunches are difficult to dodge and if you get hit by one you get hit by all of them. the tornado punches are practically a one hit kill if your near a window… This form is more difficult than his 3rd form. Eventhough the camera is working against you in the 3 fight lol.
at least i beat it now. really makes you work for you win.
So what’s the deal on the big red sword? Naomi says it contracts and expands based upon your “ki”, but I’m pretty sure that doesn’t really specify anything. The only thing I could really figure is it reacts to combos or something… but even if that were the case, what in particular it’s reacting to still isn’t very apparent to me.
Also, I’m playing through bitter mode, and I’ve been going back to the first two swords just to mix it up a bit. Is there any difference at all between those two? Hell, what about the dual swords? It seems like the dual swords are slightly more powerful, albeit slightly slower… But just as well, sometimes it seems like the exact opposite. So confusing. :bluu:
Roll FORWARD when you hear the ding to counter the teleport punches. Every other roll recovers too slow, so you end up getting pounded by the next one. I’ve no clue about the tornado punches, though.
Beat the final boss though i probably would’ve benefited to do the last two gym sessions to beef up my muscle and stamina to make the fights go by quicker.
Oh well, i’ll do it on my second playthrough, probably try to get my friend to record the Boss fights I do so i can post them on youtube.
Enjoying the game alot so far. You guys really did a great job on the script nemo. I’m loving alot of the dialogue.
I’m at Rank 3 so I’ll more than likely beat the game tomorrow. I already have maxed out stamina and strength too so all I have to do is save up for swords I guess and play through.
I’ll post more then, as well as permitting myself to look in the photobucket and inquire about the other script, lol.
Beat it a few hours ago and loved it. As chooperman said you guys did a great job on the dialogue, there were plenty of LOL moments. Im now anticipating the concept art more than ever cause it doesnt look like you can unlock any in the game
Also does Naomi not sell an infinite battery pack like in the first game?
had a question on the bug out mini game. on stage 4, for some reason i cant seem to suck up the giant scorpion in the top right corner. I dont know why, he just wont move when i suck him up.
The game doesn’t tell you this, but you need to face left or right with the control stick as well. You can’t turn unless you stop hitting B and Z first.
I glad someone else agrees with me…This right here at the beginning of the video is what i miss most about No More Heroes.
The bosses would up there bad ass factor by alot if there names were less generic, and that voice/intro of the assassin remained. Speed Buster’s was amazing though. * “Speeeeeeeeeeed Busterrrr…Fuck you, you little prick”* It gave the characters a bit more personality.
The new assassins are fine. I think people are just too attached to the old and familiar to give them a chance.
The difference is that everyone played the first game with no expectations, and then played this one with unrealistic ones.
The old game has just been valorized to the point that nothing could compare in the eyes of some people.
My one complaint is that some of the new assassins weren’t really characterized as well as the ones in the first. but otherwise I think the designs have been as varied as the original and the fights somewhat more enjoyable.(Difficulty from bosses doesn’t come from “They have fucking invincibility on everything” anymore)
I loved the Margaret fight… but the forever long fight in the parking lot was unnecessary. I like having good length in games, but I swear I was fighting guys for nearly 30 minutes cause they just kept coming. The path to Alice was kinda long too.
but seriously though… what a horrible last boss. I really expected something more than that little bastard. The ending was very meh as well I think. Nothing really felt resolved at all.
